Sales tax on the internet, what the!?

magnum by magnum · Feb 7, 2003 · News · 82 views

Yes its true "Several large retailers this week began collecting sales tax on Internet purchases. The move arose from an agreement among about 38 states and the District of Columbia that went into effect this week. The deal was struck last fall after states complained that they've been losing billions of dollars in tax revenue as online sales rise." Story here.

For so long no sales tax has been charged when u ordered online unless the bussiness was from the state u live in. But now they are tryin to mnake it so you pay for sales tax on any thing bought. Which then add on shipping could make it pointless to shop online at some places now. GRRRrr... Discuss!

Well, even if you buy something out of state and have it shipped to you, you're still supposed to pay sales tax to your state.
