Brooklyn Waterfront
so i was reading about the selling of the furman street warehouse and i thought about all my memories of the building.
- i used to work for a company that sold them the conveyor system. what was it, like 10,000FT?
- we used to sell them the material that wrapped the wt & a cassettes. it was neat to see it on the tour. 'hey...we sell you big rolls of that stuff!'
- i remember visiting once a month to pick up literature. it was a thrill to be able to drive right into the bldg to pick up the boxes. what a clean driveway!
- before the wt library cd, they used to have all the pubs available online at the desk. i knew the brother and he used to let me check out the terminal program they had. *geek alert*
- there was something on the tour about the roof/window angles that allowed light in. i don't know why, but i always thought that was neat.
so...what are your memories?
you can read the article here about the sale. u think real estate prices have gone up since 1983?

with that type of downsizing, its easy to see that the new system is right around the corner
how so?
its not really downsizing... how many MILLIONS are they spending on the new buildings and presses at patterson?
I'm pretty sure we are going to get to go up and work on the new buildings-the workers will be from the NJ, NY, CT, & PA RBCs. woo hoo! i'm excited. i can't wait.
hahah...this is a very good news story. one time i went, and they taught us the CORRECT way to open the packaging for videotapes, books, etc. using that flap in the back that is almost hidden (because it's wrapped so well). hmm. i'm going to think of other good memories that don't involve lunch at bethel.
i don't get it...what flap?
i've done the tour every other year or so for the duration of my life! it was such an amazing organized operation i never got tired of it. i always found myself veering outside the lines though, it always depressed me. i'd think--oh, no, is this how i am?! do i not stay inside the lines! GAHHH! but i'm good now. i loved getting a good, funny comical brother for a guide. a couple times there was some real boring brothers who spoke like Agent Smith. and eating at a bethel is an experience. i love watching them speed set the tables. cool stuff. and the naked tear away calender style daily texts were neat!
do you guys remember that day at courtney tinser's house that a bethelite told us the system they use in the kitchen for the serving carts when a tour full of hot girls is coming through?? HYSTERICAL! Jahanna i know you were there.
i remember how everything fit in the boxes perfectly. it's like they made their own boxes or something...no need for styrafoam(sp) peanuts.
i always remember the enormous rolls of paper. And the whole bible written on this little microchip-i couldn't fathom how they got the writing THAT small.
i wonder how much they are getting for that building.. thats milllions.. waterfront property like that.. whew.. i want it.
hey, let's take up a pool and buy 360. it's like, the cleanest building ever. and also, it's green inside. hey do you guys remember when the society was voted 3rd cleanest kitchen in New York?? That was pretty coool. Hey ian, how about a link???
I thought they got rated #1 rated kitchen...

she's married now. relax. go buy a harley.
I remember being close to 360 when 9/11 hit. Everyone in the world was flipping out.... And the only response those inside gave was,... hey guys the worlds pretty nasty today.... so lets close the windows. And so they did. In the next few day the windows were back open, back to work as usual.
