What ever happened to the good old days?

thefunkyfresh by thefunkyfresh · Jul 16, 2003 · Article · 253 views · ·

I'm sorry if I'm waxing nostalgic here, but sometimes I step back and reflect on life and think about how times have changed. Don't get me wrong, I'm not living in the past, I'm all for change in the interest of progress. But what ever happened to the good old days when you could beat somebody senseless without having charges filed against you?

I remember back in the old days when men were men. They knew how to take a beating without whimpering and whining, and you wouldn't have to worry about being subpoenaed the following week. Nowadays? Forget about it. You so much as break a few of a gas station attendant's ribs for filling you up with regular instead of super, and next thing you know you're in court. Ridiculous.

I don't know, I guess they're just different times now, maybe people have changed. It's all about being "politically correct" and "not bludgeoning people with a wrench after a getting into a minor traffic accident" now. Words like "tough" or "mean" used to describe somebody who would destroy an entire rest stop with his bare hands, but now people think they're so enlightened, they label them "rageaholics."

Society just isn't what it was thirty years ago, and we can't go back. As time marches on we must strive to adapt, but we can always think back wistfully to the good old days when you didn't have to worry about some dry cleaner owner suing you after you beat him to a bloody pulp with your left shoe because of an argument over a stain.

mmmmm, bloody pulp. i happen to agree slightly. i know practicing violence is not good, but in school [younger years] i'll honestly say that i was involved in a few school fights. won some, lost some. thems the breaks. anyway "how much can you know 'bout yourself if you've never been in a fight?"

hey, matt--funny stuff! When I think of the good old days when I could flip out over someone merely dropping a spoon 100 feet away..well, those were the good old days. If anyone so much as had swooshie pants within a 1 mile radius, I'd begin to rampage and wreak havoc on everyone I could get my bullets on. It's too bad things have changed so so much.
