Red Sox Nation at that point thought that was it. 3 outs a way from the most embaressing followup performance, being swepped at home by none other than the Yankees. But all hope was not lost. The Red Sox fought back to bring it to a tie game and giving Mariano another blown save in the playoffs. With a stolen base by Roberts and eventually his run tieing the game, the New York Yankees didnt realize their pennant just went down the drains.
Boston was relentless, not giving up, showing true heart. A team not driven by dollar signs, but driven by the love of the game. As the saying goes, money cant buy love and how true that is. You can pay the Yankee players as much money as you want, but if they dont love the game like the Red Sox players, there is no point. How great it was to watch the Red Sox celebrate on Yankee Stadium!
Games 5-7 brought on just as much excitement. If I had more time I would go into each game and how the Red Sox proved to have the better team in all the situations. Each game brought on their own news stories and for now I just focused on the most significant, the Yankees being taught how to win 4 games in a row and well what can you say the Yankees did make history again.
They are the only team in Major League Baseball to ever allow a 3-0 lead to be swept away. And by none other than the Boston Red Sox. In fact out of the 234 Major League Professional Sprts in America only 2 other teams have been able to come out of a 0-3 deficit to win the series, the 1975 New York Islanders and the 1942 Toronto Maple Leafs. But The Yankees are the first ever baseball team to be the ultimate choker!

This was a huge disappointment.
Game 2 was so promising: Yanks had 19 runs in that game! I've never heard of a score that high before!
But they choked. They're pitching couldn't match the Red Sox batting. And the Yanks couldn't seem to get people batted in...they'd be there...in scoring position, but they just couldn't do it. Oh the agony of it all!

I think that was the best series i've seen in a LONG time..at least since Cleveland was in the playoffs..of course. But i can't believe Johnny Damon's grand slam! wasn't that awesome? I am kind of suprised that they didn't put wakefield in though. But maybe they were scared that yankees was getting used to his knuckle balls...hmmm. who knows, doesn't matter, boston rules!
I hate the Red Sox... but even though I'm a Yankees fan (been one for longer than you little upstarts have been alive), they played sloppy. The team is getting old and needs to be revamped!
