aim high! 100-150! BLING BLING!
25 to 50 dude that's pathetic i give that to high school graduates
per plate though... if you invite a family of four, you would expect to get $400?
hmmm i guess people don't usally invite all of us so i never really thought about that
yea why wouldn't you ?... thats why you dont invite kids.. but if it's 4 grown adults... why not.
yea, i agree, kids can be less..its messed up when people chince on weddings, unless its because they really cant afford it..but if you can and you're just cheap...not cool.
yup! No kids unless they immediate family and then its ok to lose some money on them :)
hmmm, i didnt even think of that, i guess im just wondering about the food...
yeah, i didn't really think about it much per plate-i was just hoping we got lots total.
mikayla and i just hoped we got enough to cover the cost of each plate. that was about $28 per plate i think.
100$ is the usual, you got married out of tri state area didnt u :/
yeah, we got married in western PA
where at in western PA? i used to live in clarion.
mercer, actually. about 45 or 50 minutes west of clarion.
Where is the going rate $100 per plate for just food? That's a little ridiculous. Is the chicken made with gold dust?
Up here in NY where we have the real deal weddings, not some goosehunt in someones backyard
no offense ian!
Wow, someone's riding the snotty pants train.
give me a choo choo, give me a umm hrm somethin
well if it's not fried chicken that's not a totally unreasonable price - especially in this area. When you consider the $100 includes the appetizers at the cocktail hour, alcohol, sodas and juices, a sit-down dinner, the wedding cake, desserts and coffee, and use of the facility, linens and glasses, it's not a completely outrageous price.
lay the smack down! yay katie
True.. when I got married back in '92, I checked places pretty thoroughly.. the Adam Todd was like $75.00 per plate at the time... outrageous! I'm sure it's more than that now...
Actually I checked into that for Katie's shower (BTW, congrats Katie!) and it was only about $35/plate.
thanks Di! it was incredible
i guess a lot goes into weddings that I never think about. seriously. i think people who provide non-stop alcohol are paying too much to see people act stupid. people should act stupid for free, because, hey, i'm the person getting married, and i need to be entertained.
you're getting hitched??
of course not. don't be ridiculous. i'm just saying. i decided over the weekend that if i ever get married, i'm going to make everyone at my wedding skank to "the impression that i get", because it's a cool song. even the old sisters in my congregation. they will learn.
haha okay you just restored my reality
YOUR reality? like, no one else's life is real now, except for yours? Listen, Neo- get over yourself.
hahaha you is funny
what are these plates made of they seem expensive
per plate? is this something new? wat's that mean?
its called each person who goes to your wedding give you 100$ for the meal so u dont end up oweing out like 25 grand on your wedding 2 years later
really? never heard of that. how much does it cost to fix one plate int the first place?
you are helping to pay for the wedding, it doesnt matter how much the plate costs or the food on it.
ohh ok. samrt move. never heard of anybody doin that though
shut up that isn't true yo getting married in the kingdom hall is free! you mean, paying for the reception hall. and limos. and tuxes. and sheep. and flowers.
the kh ain't free
are you saying you had to pay to get married in the kh?
had to...no. made a $300 voluntary donation...yes. u think electricity for the a/c, sound system, lights, etc. are free?
i got married in my own hall so i could just continue donating on a reg basis instead of one big one. that is a generous donation, but I doubt it cost that much for the time you were there.
youre making your guests sound more like financial investments - lol
bling bling!
i was so naive, i didn't even think about getting money on my wedding day. everyone started handing me cards while i was walking around and i filled up my jacket pockets to bursting! friends are so cool.
di, youre making this inquiry?
Yeah, one of my co-workers asked me if I thought $100 per couple was enough at my boss's wedding, because she overheard someone say "$300/couple". I think that's kind of crazy, so I wanted a little feedback from everyone else.
um, if you want to start a rumor that the going rate is $300 per person, that's cool with me :) just make sure it gets spread around before August. haha.
for that greedy comment you're getting a pat on the back !
you're like an expensive woman, thai. you need constant exposure to money and new toys. blech!
u should give from the heart, not whatever it cost per plate. that is totally SELFISH to expect any more or less!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
actually, if your REALLY cheap at heart.. that is a big deal, cause it shows that you arent really considerate of all the work that is involved at the wedding... you dont go expecting a certain amount and get mad if you dont get it, but guests cant be cheap about it either...
A guy I work with just got back from India, he went there for his sister's wedding. They had over 1,400 people come to the reception, and the bride's family has to pay for all of the catering. He said that the gifts they get from the guests only account for about 1/5th of the cost of the reception. NUTS
that's insane...
Just heard the other day that the average gift in the US is $75 for weddings.
Yeah, it would make sense... who would put less than $75??
