I put retirement because that's a nice thing to look forward to. That and adopting kids.

juicymango #1.1 juicymangoOG 2003

I put retirement. since I'm currently paying for a house, not saving for it anymore

deanh77 #6.1 deanh77Founder

but I do have to save for my mortgage payments... hmmm...

englandkid #7 englandkidOG 2003

im saving for a car first, and then for a house, but thats a long way away, which is good cause my car is a long way away too....

theremin #8 thereminOG 2002

I'm saving for various things actually. But, pretty much hafta start from scratch after this one move. But, marriage.. wishful that maybe sometime it'll happen.. ..a house [where I have a recording studio inside].. and I'm always saving for another musical instrument. Can never have enough in my collection which is an in-use collection, not just and look, don't touch collection. None of them are that special, but I just love music is all. Well, my theremin, that's really special actually. As are all of them really.. ..to me they are. And, altho, I'm not as big on cars, as I'm am on music, maybe someday I'll be able to get a 1980-something DMC just for kicks, but like drive it around in Service anyway. Use as a daily driver, not just a show car.

deanh77 #8.1 deanh77Founder

hmm. how would you classify your theremin then? its both "in-use" AND "don't touch". haha. did you see the episode of quintuplets where the weird kid plays one? it was great.

theremin #8.1.1 thereminOG 2002

Good eye. haha

No, didn't see that. Never heard of the show. New show in America?

juicymango #9 juicymangoOG 2003

I'm saving to get out of debt, and then for a house. I guess. Not really necessary, it just kinda stinks living in an apartment after a while. You have no control over who's gonna live directly below, above or next to you. And not just the house next door, ya know, cos you never have control over that oviously... but.. you SHARE A WALL. With some jerks. That like to punch holes in the wall in the hallway for NO REASON. Or that like to beat up their wife in the middle of the night. Or that like to call the cops on you every time you have more than one person over and more than one person is WALKING. Ugh.

deanh77 #9.1 deanh77Founder

so true.

originalsnob #10 originalsnobOG 2004

I'm saving for a few software titles (job related) I'll need down the line. My car I bought back in June so that's a big weight off my shoulders.
A few other things here and there (also job related). In spring a trip to New Orleans. Long term...there are a fwe in mind I won't say just yet...'til the deal is sealed.

fivezero #10.1 fivezeroOG 2003

I can't imagine what you'd be like if you were drinking.

originalsnob #10.1.1 originalsnobOG 2004

DANGEROUS... so as long as I have total control of my faculties = total control of the inner darkness, LOL*

*Or not

web-toedchloe #11 web-toedchloeOG 2001

There's a good number of people saving for rings... Who's about to propose?

T
#11.1 toxicgirlOG 2003

maybe they don't want to say cuz it's a suprise

flomojopoanode #12 flomojopoanodeFounder

first I'm saving for "what if". Like, "what if" my car catches a blaze on my way home today, and I need another one. "What if" I find the love of my life and we want to get married. "What if" I pay my bills off, and move to where the need is great. "What if" I decide to go to bethel, and I'm excepted.

I save for the "what if", because change is the only true constant.

specialk #12.1 specialkOG 2003

Oh my goodness Todd.....the way you worded the last part sounds so cool. :)

fivezero #12.1.1 fivezeroOG 2003

It's a known saying. And one that is mighty true.

specialk #12.1.1.1 specialkOG 2003

Hmmm....I've never heard it before this. At least I don't think I have....but I like it. :)

socalgal #12.1.2 socalgalOG 2003

Todd seriously has a way with words! :)

socalgal #12.2 socalgalOG 2003

this is totally smart!!

originalsnob #12.2.1 originalsnobOG 2004

Wow Gina you're like SUPER DUPER IMPRESSED, lol I will ez message you...

originalsnob #12.3 originalsnobOG 2004

Sorry this is a bit delayed but...I'd ('course this is JUST my take) not be so concerned with the car, even if it caught a blaze. There'd be a bigger deal with the fact that you were now X'tra crispy odd w/ a side of well done :-(

flomojopoanode #12.3.1 flomojopoanodeFounder

Whoa, weirdo! I didn't say that I'd be in the car till it's gone! I'd have to be okay, if I need to buy a new one. (...and you thought I was the morbid one. :)

thatdarngirl #13 thatdarngirlOG 2002

Who else is saving for retirment with me?

T
#13.1 toxicgirlOG 2003

wow, you get cracken early

thatdarngirl #13.1.1 thatdarngirlOG 2002

I'm actually saving in general. For Greece, my Ford Bronco I want so badly, getting married, rent that I don't have to pay yet, adoption, and eventually retirement.

tesoro #13.1.1.1 tesoroOG 2001

do you really want to adopt a child?

thatdarngirl thatdarngirlOG 2002

Yes (this is gonna be a reply to number 35 as well). I've always wanted to adopt a children not only because I love children and have like crazy maternal instincts but I just can't stand the idea that kids dont have mommies. If I could adopt all the kids in the world I'd seriously would, and I don't mean that to sound cliche. I even talked it over seriously with my boyfriend so he knew I wasn't just being crazy.

I've been looking into it a bit just to get an idea. I always wanted asian babies. That can get a bit complicated. I don't need a baby, I wouldn't mind an older child (like up to 6ish) but the problem adopting out of country with a kid that old is the culture (you have to really know the culture and probably visit the country) and the language (what if they don't speak english?) Also, there are plenty of children in the US that need to be adopted, so I'd really have to talk with an angency before I decided.

And I will let you know how it goes though it's gonna be a long while before it happens.

juicymango juicymangoOG 2003

yeah i would also not mind an asian baby but that is living in an american orphanage kinda thing. Kind of like Thai. I just really love asian people.

The fact that babies are just "thrown away" and wind up dying and never feel love from anyone... just makes me so terribly sad. Every child deserves happiness. I want to save them.

thatdarngirl thatdarngirlOG 2002

Let's save them together!! I want to go to China (and people laugh..but if this wasn't crazy I'd do it) and collect all the little baby girls they throw away on the sides of the road and save them. I can have a legion of little chinese baby girls. If I could have a huge mansion with just like..hundreds of orphans I would. Maybe not hundreds cause then thats just an orphanage! but..like..20.

juicymango juicymangoOG 2003

yes let's do it! let's get really rich and then move to China where we'll be REALLY rich. And save the babies. No seriously I can prolly talk Chris into it. Heh

thatdarngirl thatdarngirlOG 2002

Okay let's go. If I ask really nicely I'm sure Ben will go.

juicymango juicymangoOG 2003 thatdarngirl

yah sounds good. I think Japan would be cooler than China and I guess safer.. but they don't really throw girls away there they dress them up like anime and let them roam the streets.

thatdarngirl thatdarngirlOG 2002 juicymango

Yeah, I'd go to Japan over China anyday just because its cooler. Hmm..many we can kidnap some crazy Japanese girls and make them our friends?

I really want to see the great wall of China. I just can't understand how that thing is so big. Why aren't any other countries building these? We should make one around NJ for fun.

juicymango juicymangoOG 2003 thatdarngirl

they had to make it extra big so that those crazy mongolians dont get thru

hahaha

south park "the chitty wall"

originalsnob originalsnobOG 2004 thatdarngirl

Today I talked to this chick @ my job, her sister is adopting a baby from Gautemala.

deanh77 deanh77Founder

hmm.... have you read "The Diamond Age"? theres an army of little asian girls in it.

thatdarngirl thatdarngirlOG 2002

No but now I must.

hunkpapap hunkpapapOG 2003

WAIT! I know why you are doing this! It's because jolie did it isn't it?

juicymango juicymangoOG 2003

not really ... i've thought about that for years and years. I never really liked the idea of giving birth ... but never dismissed the idea of having children AT ALL i just don't want to carry one in my belly.

thatdarngirl thatdarngirlOG 2002

Not at all. I've wanted to adopt forever.

beachbum beachbumOG 2002

little asian babies are so adorable. i told andrew i wanted one-and some little african ones too. i love their little fros.

hunkpapap hunkpapapOG 2003

I think the reason you ladies want to adopt a small asian is that you secretly want tai in your beds..

beachbum beachbumOG 2002

and you don't?

juicymango #14 juicymangoOG 2003

I've often heard the expression "pay yourself first"

you're really SUPPOSED TO save and THEN pay your bills with whatever's left. Bills will always be there... but in case of SOMETHING... you need to have savings.

I like to capitalize important words

tesoro #15 tesoroOG 2001

i'm saving for/paying off wedding debt...and saving to pay our upcoming mortgage payments! eeekk

rocksupastar #16 rocksupastarFounder
