There's a particular kind of energy that comes from a teenage girl in Hopatcong, New Jersey who eats cat food by accident, gets hit by a wiffle ball bat in gym class, and wears flip flops to school despite being told they're a "SAFETY HAZARD" -- and that energy was Amanda Prior in a nutshell. An OG member since November 2000, legs brought a warm, scatterbrained enthusiasm to eZabel that made her one of the most naturally likable presences on the site. She wasn't the most prolific poster -- 559 comments across four active years -- but every one of them felt like she was grabbing you by the arm to tell you something she just couldn't keep to herself.
Her journal entries were miniature comedies of everyday chaos. There was the time she and her sister crazygirl bought fireworks in Pennsylvania, launched one in Jersey, and it turned into a "huge fire ball" that sailed over the neighbor's fence -- ending that relationship permanently. There was the Jetta packed with twelve people including her uncle's girlfriend's six children and her grandma, the fortune cookie that delivered the maddening non-answer "What's inside an empty box?", and the babysitting gig where two little girls gave her a makeover so thorough she came home with red nail polish all over her hands and cheap glitter smeared across her face. She once discovered mid-snack that the granola she'd been munching on was actually from the cat's bowl on the counter -- a revelation she narrated in real time to Heather, who was presumably no help whatsoever. Her storytelling had this breathless, parenthetical quality, always circling back to assure you that yes, this really happened, and no, she couldn't explain it either.
Amanda ran deep in the New Jersey crew. She was part of the Stanhope/Hackettstown congregation circle alongside malibu, thatdarngirl, delliott101, web-toedchloe, and flomojopoanode. Her top interaction partner was g.f.s.rocks, who wrote to her in Italian and whose legendary all-caps laugh responses to her posts could fill a page. She had a long-running message thread with tpham that spiraled from Brady Bunch critiques into an elaborate running joke about a clothing-wearing llama that enjoyed poly cotton blends -- the kind of absurdist bit that only makes sense at 1 AM between two people who've completely lost the plot. She signed her messages as "~Amanda~" or, in Thai's case, "~llamanda~." magnum and thefunkyfresh were constants in her orbit, and she showed up for seemingly every eZabel event on the calendar -- 24 in total -- from the original eZabel Party to manhunt games to chocolate sleepovers to a corn maze adventure.
What made legs distinctive wasn't depth of analysis or hot takes -- it was the genuine warmth she radiated. She told people to be themselves and meant it. She wrote about how life would be better without money, not as an economic argument but because people sacrificed time with family and friends for it. She said she wouldn't change much about her past because "you learn from your mistakes and they make you a better person" -- though she'd do something about the Holocaust if she could, even if she didn't know what exactly. When asked about the Matrix's red pill versus blue pill, she leaned toward blissful ignorance: "I think itd be nice to just not know." She adored The Wizard of Oz so much she played a Winkee and an Ozian in the seventh grade production, loved Jack Black with an intensity that required dedicated movie marathons, and remembered specific Family Matters episodes with an enthusiasm that made thefunkyfresh admit he did too. thatdarngirl once told her she wished she could be "as blonde as you on the outside" while remaining so on the inside -- a compliment that doubled as a perfect description of Amanda's vibe: sunny, unfiltered, and completely herself.
eZabel Personality Type: ESFP -- "The Entertainer." She faded from the site after 2003, with her final comment in August 2004 -- apologizing that she couldn't make an event because of malibu's sister's wedding. It was a fitting exit: Amanda Prior, unable to be in two places at once, choosing the people she loved and feeling genuinely bad about the ones she was missing.
