I have been trained to deal with such situations after having various yelling bouts with my sister, who's friends seem not to understand the use of phone manners. Neither does my little sister. My little sister and her friend's conversation goes something like:
RIIIIIINNNNNNNNNGGGGGGGGGG
Sister: "hello"
Friend: "Hi"
pause
Friend: "Want to hang out"
Sister: "Ok"
Friend: "Ok"
Sister: "bye"
Hang Up
Of course if I answer the phone it's something more along the lines of:
RINNNNNG
Me: "hello"
Friend: "hi"
Long pause
Friend: "Can I talk to Sammy"
Frustrated groan on my part
Me: "And may I ask who's calling please..."
Friend: "Lizzy"
Me yelling to my sister: "Samantha one of your stupid friends who can't talk on the phone correctly is on the phone"
YO THAT BOTHERS ME SO MUCH!! one thing i CANNOT STAND is bad phone manners. i hate it when people call and the first thing out of their mouth is "hi is alex (or anybody in my family) there?" its like, okay, do i not exist. whenever i call somebody, whoever it is, i always make a point to say who i am to the person who answers the phone, and ask how they are. its not necesary, but its polite, and manners my friends, are the crux of humanity. its so funny you say that, i always want to just hang up on them, especially when its one of my brother or sisters friends. stupid kids with no people skills. i may have killed a seagull, but at least i have phone manners! i would rather speak to a murderer with phone manners than a model citizen without them. its just something i hate.
hahahahahhaa "i may have killed a seagull but at least i have phone manners" lol! YEA RIGHT!!!!! DO YOU THINK CALLING MY MOM A JERK HAVING PHONE MANNERS??!?!?!?!?!?!??!?!?!?!?!?! hahahahahahhahahahahahahahahaha
haha point noted!
Hey Matt! ts Manda! I gotta get a new line...
matt, I agree, but it seems like the Journal owner, this so called "softhands" personage does not. He/she said that they don't like it when someone says who they are as if he/she is supposed to know them. I agree with you matt, and not with softhands, that if someone calls, they should tell me who they are...if I know them or not, I at least can tell whoever the call is for, who is calling. It's very polite, and not at all a nuisance
i think he is frustrated with people who call you and say "who's this?" after you say hello, without first saying who they are
thank you matt... some people are just not tuned in
