how do you make sales then? wait for people to call. I'm a commercial insurance agent. most of the time i have plenty of work to do, but i don't feel like it. it's much more interesting around here.

classic1 Feb 19, 2004

What I am saying is that the door is open for you to make as much as you want to make. If you want to make 30k a year, go for it. If you want to make 300k a year, suit yourself. If the sun is shini...

socalgal Feb 19, 2004

magnum magnumOG 2001

seriously, if we didnt have these pesky rules about tattoos i wanted to get earth wind water and fire ones. both ankles and both wrists, each one of the elements on them

reaf reafOG 2002

What Rules? There are no Rules.

magnum magnumOG 2001

guidelines whatever u wanna call them, ill just say it comes off with water :) yeah that will work!

socalgal socalgalOG 2003

WOW, i'm going to pass that message onto Johnny (prez of element)

Try the henna tats

*so you CAN'T get a tat? OOPPS, should i get mine removed?? (totally kidding)

magnum magnumOG 2001

i dunno i think we cant right? can i say its a conscious matter? I wanted to get them and send a pic in one day or somethin, i have seen a few other people get tats of their fav skate companys

thatdarngirl thatdarngirlOG 2002

From what I understood (this matter was approached in a recent awake) it's a conscience matter

socalgal socalgalOG 2003

yes lynz is right!!!

magnum magnumOG 2001 socalgal

score, works for me

magnum magnumOG 2001

do you remember which awake it was?

thatdarngirl thatdarngirlOG 2002 magnum

Pretty sure it's the one with two swams on the front of it? When you read it tell me what you think.

magnum magnumOG 2001 thatdarngirl

swams? lol

thatdarngirl thatdarngirlOG 2002 magnum

Swans..those pretty white birds. Hmm..maybe the one with the Farmer then? I'm almost postive it's in an Awake. Actually..maybe not too recent. It could be anywhere back to september actually..

magnum magnumOG 2001 thatdarngirl

oh wow, now i really gotta go searchin no fun :/

socalgal socalgalOG 2003 magnum

there was an article i remember a few years back, you might want to check the index

hmm im not finding it

D
dgiaimoOG 2003 magnum

There's an article on tattoos in the 8/8/2000 awake. My understanding is that getting a tattoo is certainly a matter of conscience, *however* brothers who do so may be held back from serving as elders/ministerial servants/pioneers in the congregation and sisters may be held back from pioneering.

thatdarngirl thatdarngirlOG 2002 dgiaimo

There is a new-er article on it from 2003 though.

D
dgiaimoOG 2003 thatdarngirl

Found it. It's in the 9/22/2003 Awake!. The import of the articles seems to be the same, though, so I don't think anything has changed.

wow, i didn't know that. i would never get a tatoo though. i think they just look so ghey

juicymango juicymangoOG 2003 dgiaimo

It said "think before you ink" in that one. It tickled me.

reaf reafOG 2002 juicymango

ha, I member that

and i thought and did, and thought again and did again, and am thinking and want to do again,, AAAHHHHHHHH

im guessing it states the same thing though, ah well time to get the ankles done

socalgal socalgalOG 2003

just use henna, it comes off after a few weeks and you're sparing your conscience.

We have a wall of pics like that, we call it our wall of fame. one guy had the element "tree" tattooed on his back that's on the wall and it's cute cause little groms send in their little drawings.

if you're ever out this way i can give you a tour and hopefully we'll have our ramp done in our warehouse

thatdarngirl thatdarngirlOG 2002

I really enjoy henna! Its so fun.

magnum magnumOG 2001 thatdarngirl

isnt that the indian junk where its all red?

thatdarngirl thatdarngirlOG 2002 magnum

It's kind of brown (the black one is bad for you!). You could always just use magic markers.

hmm ill pass on that then, i like full color :)

yodasucka yodasuckaOG 2003

the deal is it is a conscience matter however, if u have one VISABLE, you can't have privledges in the congragation... if its not visable- its a conscience matter.. thats how my dad explained it to me anyways haha

thatdarngirl thatdarngirlOG 2002

Yeah..that's how I thought it went.

magnum magnumOG 2001

if you are wearing a suit the only way it could be visible is on your face or somethin :p

D
dgiaimoOG 2003

It's a conscience matter in either case. Having privileges is just that, a privilege. In order to have them you must be "exemplary", as in, above and beyond what is required. You can be a perfectly fine witness in good standing in the congregation with absolutely no privileges whatsoever.

Oh, and as far as visible/non-visible tattoos go, unless they've gotten specific direction from the Society, that sort of thing is up to the local body of elders to decide on. So while the body in your congregation has decided to do it that way, the body in another congregation might decide on something completely different.

My dad is an elder in my hall, and he has a tattoo right on his arm (he DID get it when he wasn't in the truth) of a skull with a knife through the eye that says "death before dishonor"... and he's been an elder for like 15 years

tinser tinserOG 2002 jay79

well, i think being in the truth or not when you get it makes a big difference. You can change, and still be considered exemplorary

perrin perrinOG 2004 tinser

Oh yeah defenitly. If you didn't know something was wrong and did it it's much different then if you know it is and still do it.

D
dgiaimoOG 2003 jay79

Like tinser said, having gotten it when he wasn't in the truth makes a big difference. My uncle also has a couple of tattoos on his arm that he did when he wasn't in the truth and he's been an elder for as long as I remember.

magnum magnumOG 2001

here is the shirt with prolly my favorite of them that i wanted, prolly change it a little bit but start with wind starting on my left ankle then water left arm then follow arround

socalgal socalgalOG 2003

then you'd be on our wall of fame!

magnum magnumOG 2001

you guys have any different designs of the 4 of them?

socalgal socalgalOG 2003 magnum

oh yeah, I'll see if i can get a catalog from sales and send you one...shoot me your email address
