I think it means a guy that's nice and kind and has a good heart, but is not gonna be "too nice" to stand up for the girl like let's say if someone's being mean to her, he's not just gonna sit there and take it, he'll say something, like "your tone, it's all wrong, do it again and i'll stab you in the eye with a soldering iron"

"homo" means "same" ... it came from the term "homo-sexual" as in preference of the "same" sex.
