Jesse. u are right on the money. using scriptures can be a big help. they are Jahs thoughts. do we think when the elders use scriptures to councel us they are being they are being preachy? was Jesus preachy when he used scriptures to help his disciples descern things? if a sis or bro use a scripture to try and help us see things more as Jah sees them is that a hurtful thing?
youre very right, using scriptures IS a big help... which is why the Bible is provided for us... what i do-not agree with is using the Bible online...time and time again we are asked by the F.F.&D.S. not to do that...
if you want to know why i think this, please ezmessage me....
....without profanity.
somebody really used profanity to you???
there is a difference between profanity and swear words.
someone got that mixed up.
wait a minute... what's the difference?
swear words ( to me at least) are words u can use in everyday speech, ie. Jesus went to the bible *hell* or he was *damned* to a life in prison.
Profanity is words u wouldn't say under any condition, even if a desert spider was crawling up you leg.
ok, to swear means:
To use profane oaths; curse.
Or
To use abusive, violent, or blasphemous language against; curse.
profanity means:
Abusive, vulgar, or irreverent language.
The thesaurus notes as synonyms of "profanity":
Synonyms: abuse, blasphemy, curse, cursing, cuss, cuss word, cussing, dirty language, dirty name, dirty word, execration, four-letter word, French, impiety, imprecation, irreverence, malediction, no-no, obscenity, profaneness, sacrilege, swearing, swearword
So, anyway, regardless of what you call it, saying words like those can be offensive to others when said with any sort of "tone" behind them.
NOTE: I'm not saying you said anything with malintent! I'm just making a point.
and a very good point it is indeed!
*see you are a genius ;)
<--------- would like socalgal to call him a genius, and learn to become a master tickler
even words in replace of other words you piece of cookie :\
That is what we call a euphemism. lol
what the heck is a euphamism?
A euphaNism is when you use a word to replace a swear word, like saying darn.
You're both wrong. It's Euphemism!
I guess nobody caught the bonus joke in Matt's comment: He used one in his question---heck---funny stuff Matt.
i just got it....
was that really supposed to be a joke?
all i'm seeing is my last name, thats it... something else?
hahahaha euPHAMism.
haha... yes!! are you all slow or something?? geez, i'll try to make my jokes a little less cerebral and just stick to potty humor!! lol :)
i still dont get it
YAY! i love the potty humor...pppbbbttt
MY EYES! MY EYES!!!! hahaha... but FYI you wont find "h-e-double hockey sticks"(unless its being indexed to hades or sheol) or "damned" in the New World Translation.
