um, hello, the soviet bloc of nations was former king of the north. I hope you studied your Daniel's prophecy book. But that soviet bloc of nations has hence disbanded and no longer represents the king of the north just as Antiochus the second is no longer king of the north.

how was russia the "fake" king of the north???? The Soviet Union was the king of the north at one time, the "real" king of the north at that time. The new king of the north has yet to arise and be odentified. How is the Soviet Union a "fake" king of the north??? The king of the north has changed identities many times.

well it is impotant to know who the old king of the north is to see that the prophesy is fulfilled and all. All i was saying was that those countries that were part of the fprmer soviet union, which includes afghanistan, have been having major problems trying to have peace. Thus we see the wful scar left by the soviet union, one of the worst govt's to date, beisdes maybe fascist spain and Nazi germany. But even hitler's gvernment didt leave scars this far reaching
It's actually very important to know about the past, especially biblical past. Why else would the bible be so big? Jehovah could have had just a few pages explaining what we should and shouldn't do but he knows the important of history and of examples.

if you're like me, you may have thought that the kings of the north and south were just two kings; and that our understanding of who each of them are have changed throughout the years. what i learned from the daniel's prophecy book (and what i think adam is trying to say) is that we now understand there to be different countries/kings/rulers who were the kings of the north and south at different times throughout the ages. that's why there are charts in the daniel's prophecy book that identify who each king was, which verse describes them, and when the transitions took place. and, of course, it is important to know about these things.
