the question is: is #2 really just looking for friendship in #1 or has #2 just not realized he/she likes the other more than just a friend and #1 is picking up on that?
Not at all, #2 is the kind of person that will cry for their friends happniess (any of the friends they have).
For #2 if their friends are miserable, #2 cannot be happy knowing they're miserable. Just the kind of person #2 is very lending, no alterior motive.
