be careful... speculation isnt good. and that site about jesus....dude why are you lookin at it?

ok4now ok4nowOG 2002

a. i didn't see this as speculation...i was just stimulating comments about the upcoming war. iraq doesn't seem to fit in with dan 11:44, 45. anyway, i don't think there's anything wrong with discussing the possibilities of prophecy.

ekulu ekuluOG 2002

yea there's something wrong with it. it's seculation.

web-toedchloe web-toedchloeOG 2001

It is speculation. Who are you to "Stimulate discussion"? I think what you're doing could more appropriately be referred to as fomenting some kind of heated debate. Did Jesus discuss the wars of his contemporaries? Your article has no positive point of view. It's not "discussing the possibilities of prophecy", it's tring to pinpoint the names and entities involved in that prophecy. THAT is not the objective of the prophecy itself. As I said, we know this is the last days, and the possible war may be a sign or not, but really, what good does discussing it in a forum like this serve? What if someone new in the truth passed through and saw this article? Or what if someone's unbelieving parent or mate saw it? It is really a good witness? Where is it recommended that we should tell OUR viewpoints to those we meet out in service? This is the same idea.

skaorsk8 skaorsk8OG 2002

hmm. in fact, jesus did discuss current events that happened in his day (such as the tower that fell on some people in Galilee and killed them). And he told his disciples to keep a close eye on current events- like when the Roman armies surrouded Jerusalem. Should the Christians ignored the armies like the Jews did? Jesus said "When you hear of wars and REPORTS of wars". This, my friend, is a report. Opinion- that's a separate subject. But true Christians keep a sharp eye on world events (as Jesus and his disciples did) and look for fulfillment of prophecy.

skaorsk8 skaorsk8OG 2002

for instance, The Nazi Regime was predicted in the book of Daniel. Should the Witnesses then ignored that?

forrestina forrestinaOG 2002

yes Jesus discussed current events, and we can do the same, but we shouldn't speculate on the meaning or significance of things happening around us. everything we see going on is proof that we are living in the last days. the governing body keeps us informed and to date with everything we need to know. for example, for those of us in the tristate area, remember how quickly we received a letter that was read at the hall about September 11th. if recent world events have special prophetic significance we will find out when it's necessary.

ilikebirds ilikebirdsOG 2002

lets all go back to talking about poland and vietnam... that was more fun. geez. i speculate that dave is a moron. and ryan likes cats.

legiapol legiapolOG 2002

im with thai on this one. ryan likes cats a little too much

hunkpapap hunkpapapOG 2003

I speculate that you don't like all of this speculative talk? Do you concur?

ok4now ok4nowOG 2002

u trying 2b cool?

ilikebirds ilikebirdsOG 2002 ok4now

problem is , he's already too cool.

ok4now ok4nowOG 2002 ilikebirds

i don't see that as a problem...

web-toedchloe web-toedchloeOG 2001

I agree. Jesus gave his disciples specific events to watch for, but we have only "Wars and reports of Wars", not "War with Iraq." That's the difference.

web-toedchloe web-toedchloeOG 2001

But when Hitler took power, should anyone not in the governing body have said, "This is the fulfillment of the prophecy in Daniel"? My point is it's not ours to decide what's a fulfillment and what's not.

ok4now ok4nowOG 2002

gen 40:8...i never said that 'this equals that'...i'm not 'deciding' what is a fulfillment and what is not. i don't see anything wrong with using our mental faculties to reason on current events.

web-toedchloe web-toedchloeOG 2001

You're right, I wasn't thinking about it the right way.

ok4now ok4nowOG 2002

thanks dan...good references

mandie mandieOG 2001

I'm agreeing with webby on this. Like my co said, we could drive ourselves totally insane trying to figure out what's going to happen, and who the king of the north is/will be. I'm not saying that I never think about it, but the most important thing is to look at what's happening and that should motivate us more to go and tell more people about the truth and try to save as many people as we can.

skaorsk8 skaorsk8OG 2002

i'm agreeing that you're wrong ;)
