the king of the north is prolly not iraq be causethat king comes against the encampment of God's people and we know from Rwevelation that that willl be all the kings of the earth that make that attack. So chances are this one king is not the king of the north. We will only know clearly when he arrives. as you said, Time will tell.
OK dude, can you stop with the posting of other websites articles. it's not really a news story. you should write your own interpretation of it. add in a few pictures. not the whole sticking article and website none the less.
yea it's kinda cheating...
yeah a simple link in musings to this story would have worked, we dont need a news story basically cut and pasted to here... Whose approving this junk? I hope theres not gonna be 5 storys approved a day
take it up with ian...cuz he said to submit this kinda stuff as a news artcile. it don't matter to me.
i dont care what he says! i own him!
i didn't approve it. that's all i know.
Nor did I... I assume Ian did before he left...
be careful... speculation isnt good. and that site about jesus....dude why are you lookin at it?
That's what I was going to say. There's no reason for us to make any assumptions about who the King of the North is. Why should we think that if the Faithful and Discreet Slave doesn't know about it, we somehow could figure it out? We know that these are the last days, obviously, but trying to guess how prophecies will be fulfilled is paramount to trying to guess the "day and hour" of the end. No one can do that.
I concur. That is exactly what i was thinking. I've thought about this king of the north stuff too but i never wanted to mention it out loud b/c then people run w/ it and rumors start.
i also concur. because it just seems cool to concur. you ain't coooool unless you concur.
very true my friend, and that is why i did it. If concurring is cool then i'm (insert name)
i like saddam. actually i think my dad looks exactly like him, when he had his mustache. i can post up a pic of my dad in his moustache. saddam, you go girl
Darn, i should have just concurred....
such a good movie!!!!!
I'm glad someone got that.....
oh no help me.. what movie was that ... ahh.. it's on tthe tip of my toungue... ahh
catch me if you can
nope didn't see it. it's from another movie too than
a. i didn't see this as speculation...i was just stimulating comments about the upcoming war. iraq doesn't seem to fit in with dan 11:44, 45. anyway, i don't think there's anything wrong with discussing the possibilities of prophecy.
yea there's something wrong with it. it's seculation.
It is speculation. Who are you to "Stimulate discussion"? I think what you're doing could more appropriately be referred to as fomenting some kind of heated debate. Did Jesus discuss the wars of his contemporaries? Your article has no positive point of view. It's not "discussing the possibilities of prophecy", it's tring to pinpoint the names and entities involved in that prophecy. THAT is not the objective of the prophecy itself. As I said, we know this is the last days, and the possible war may be a sign or not, but really, what good does discussing it in a forum like this serve? What if someone new in the truth passed through and saw this article? Or what if someone's unbelieving parent or mate saw it? It is really a good witness? Where is it recommended that we should tell OUR viewpoints to those we meet out in service? This is the same idea.
hmm. in fact, jesus did discuss current events that happened in his day (such as the tower that fell on some people in Galilee and killed them). And he told his disciples to keep a close eye on current events- like when the Roman armies surrouded Jerusalem. Should the Christians ignored the armies like the Jews did? Jesus said "When you hear of wars and REPORTS of wars". This, my friend, is a report. Opinion- that's a separate subject. But true Christians keep a sharp eye on world events (as Jesus and his disciples did) and look for fulfillment of prophecy.
for instance, The Nazi Regime was predicted in the book of Daniel. Should the Witnesses then ignored that?
yes Jesus discussed current events, and we can do the same, but we shouldn't speculate on the meaning or significance of things happening around us. everything we see going on is proof that we are living in the last days. the governing body keeps us informed and to date with everything we need to know. for example, for those of us in the tristate area, remember how quickly we received a letter that was read at the hall about September 11th. if recent world events have special prophetic significance we will find out when it's necessary.
lets all go back to talking about poland and vietnam... that was more fun. geez. i speculate that dave is a moron. and ryan likes cats.
im with thai on this one. ryan likes cats a little too much
I speculate that you don't like all of this speculative talk? Do you concur?
problem is , he's already too cool.
i don't see that as a problem...
I agree. Jesus gave his disciples specific events to watch for, but we have only "Wars and reports of Wars", not "War with Iraq." That's the difference.
But when Hitler took power, should anyone not in the governing body have said, "This is the fulfillment of the prophecy in Daniel"? My point is it's not ours to decide what's a fulfillment and what's not.
gen 40:8...i never said that 'this equals that'...i'm not 'deciding' what is a fulfillment and what is not. i don't see anything wrong with using our mental faculties to reason on current events.
You're right, I wasn't thinking about it the right way.
thanks dan...good references
I'm agreeing with webby on this. Like my co said, we could drive ourselves totally insane trying to figure out what's going to happen, and who the king of the north is/will be. I'm not saying that I never think about it, but the most important thing is to look at what's happening and that should motivate us more to go and tell more people about the truth and try to save as many people as we can.
b. as i said about the site, "strange how this came up as a banner ad on this article..." do u know what a banner ad is?
dude i dont like you all that much, matter of fact i'd like the ground before i ever like you. but if anyone wants to mess with you about this story send them to me. i'll kill them.
Hey guys, this seems to be getting heated up and I have had a couple of complaints in my inbox about this story... just so you all know, I didn't approve it and Dan posted that he didn't either... AFAIK, only Ian, Matt, Dan and I have admin rights to approve stories... Matt is away and hasn't been on since last week and this was approved after Ian left, so I'm not sure what's going on...
I guess if no one likes this story, ignore it... I'm sure Brian didn't mean to start any controversy...
thanks dave...i think alot of people probably assumed that you approved it...
No offense, but I would never have approved this in it's original or current form... it's too controversial...
how is it controversial?
Quoting from the top of the article...
"* Is Iraq the new King of the North?
* Or will the new KOTN be someone who reacts to this war? "
Sound kind of speculative, but I know you asked just to kind of get people thinking. It's kind of like asking "Do you think the events of 9-11-01 marked the start of the Great Tribulation?" Seeing how some of the folks reacted on here, plus the messages I got in my inbox, stirred up some controversy.
ohhh, what happened to "time will tell"? i hope no one thinks i'm running around insisting that i know who the kotn is...
No.. not that.. I see where you're coming from, but foresaw how it could have been misconstrued.
what? do you think you're some kind of prophet with powers of foresight?
YES I DO, your going to get beat by a salami some time in the future!
Ha ha... no, just my friendly neighborhood Spider-Sense was tingling...
are you kiddding me.. peoepl ereallt got heated up about this stuff.
thats ridiculous . i'm sorry whoever you are. talk to me. geez. brian didn't even say anything. come on . he was just saying..i dont know. talk to me. geeez.
well it's like that and that's the way it is HUH!
that brings up a new suggestion...something that logs who approved a news story (unless ian already has something like that that only HE sees)
a loud pop- up keeps coming up on that site brian
i'll take away the framing...
thaaaanks brian! ow no more annoying dsitrctioin when i'm playin britnry spears on the computer!
ANYBODY see saddam's scary little speech on cnn today? geez, looks like war for real. i think u can see it again 1 pm eastern time
