Any good non-chain restaurants in the general Randolph/Dover/Rockaway area?

Or, anyone know of any good/cool restaurants in NYC? Like, maybe American, or Vegetarian, or French or Italian? (not into seafood too much)

lol i'll go to a vegetarian place because i like some food that happens to have no meat in it! like, you know, a good lasagna, or pizza, or french fries... mmmmm gimme some unhealthy veget...

I'm so challenged. I just realized you said in your area... If you're willing to venture down 46 to Parsippany Veggie Heaven has a Veggie "Whopper" w/ fries (sweetpotato crinkly) It's the BEST junk food you've ever had =)
