Okay so this isn't right. If my sister is using her computer with the internet and I try to use the main one on the internet it goes slower than the slowest dial up..
close all programs that are using the internet, and visit this site from whichever computer is directly hardwired to the router: www.speedtest.net choose new york and post your results!
Without the router hooked up: Download- 7504 kb/s Upload- 1256 kb/s Latency- 134 ms Distance- 50 mi
With the router (and it's going faster than it was last night): Download- 7703 kb/s Upload- 1193 kb/s Latency- 149 ms But my sister isn't using her computer with the internet right now.
It's like..off and on. It'll work really fast for a second and then stop working completely.
it's the time it takes for data to be sent back and forth from your computer to a server on the net.
i guess what you could try now is to hook up the router again, and while the one computer is downloading something (like an mp3, or a video, or some large file), run the speed test from the other one again and see how it looks.
Download- 11518 kb/s
Upload- 1497 kb/s
Latency- 146 ms
It seems like it's not any slower now..I didn't do anything different to it though.
Okay, well websites work all right but AIM keeps acting funny with the router.
D- 12135
U- 1655
Latency- 91
overall, it looks like you have a very solid connection with or without the router in place. what is AIM doing that is funky?
It keeps signing me off and on when the router is in place, almost like I lose the connection for a few seconds?
