Coolest character in the Bible--Jael.

flomojopoanode Dec 6, 2006

I like how you said "character" as if Jael was just a fairytale. I point this out, because I said the same thing about King David the other day...

dude, they could be called "characters", but they're not, you're right i think we say this because we started reading about them in the bible stories book, so long ago. are kings like Julius ...

I was just talking about this the other day - I came into the truth when I was a little older, so I never read the bible story book. Now I think I should have, because the little kids in my hall know the stories like the back of their hands and I can't remember any of them. :(

superhero superheroOG 2004 ·

i used to recite the "jonah" story word for word, to convince people i could read when i really couldn't.

web-toedchloe web-toedchloeOG 2001 ·

My little brothers loved that one too. I remember them both saying "Go to the city of Ninevah!" all around the house, and I thought, Who was supposed to go to Ninevah? :P

summer played this trick, but i think she used the story about dinah.

Have you read the book at all? It's awesome! I love the Wise King Solomon one with the two ladies and the baby. That was always my favorite.

tesoro tesoroOG 2001 ·

yea, you should read it, even after all of the society's books i've read, whenever a certain "story" is being discussed at the meeting, the pictures i rememeber are from the bible story book.

web-toedchloe web-toedchloeOG 2001 ·

I leaved through it when I read the stories to my brothers when they were little, but I've never read it all the way through. I'd feel silly - the writing is for little kids.

g.f.s.rocks g.f.s.rocksOG 2001 ·

You may think the writing is for little kids, but it is still using the Bible as its reference and is a tool from Jehovah to help out the younger ones, so there is no difference between reading that book and an article in a Watchtower or Awake that is targeted toward the younger ones... Shouldn't we all be like babes when it comes to learning more about the truth?

web-toedchloe web-toedchloeOG 2001 ·

Obviously it's the same information, but it is written for little kids - that's not my thought, it's uncontroverted.

g.f.s.rocks g.f.s.rocksOG 2001 ·

How will you be able to teach your future kids about Jehovah with this publication, if you yourself have not completed it?

web-toedchloe web-toedchloeOG 2001 ·

Well if I have kids, I'll read it. I do the bible reading every week and that has the same info; it's not like I'm missing anything. Little kids just retain info better, especially if it's in story form. I wouldn't retain it better than a bible chapter at this age anyway.

g.f.s.rocks g.f.s.rocksOG 2001 ·

Hey IF's can happen by mistake... I do agree though that the older you get the retention starts to diminish

socalgal socalgalOG 2003 ·

well its nice to know you retain EVERYTHING from the bible and dont need bible aids. :P

sure the writing is for little kids, so it should be right on your level. oh! lol.

oh i still refer to my book of bible stories when i need to refresh my memory of something. it just explains everything so easily.
