District Convention: Jersey City
August 24-26

magnum magnumOG 2001

brooklyn july 4th weekend what what! bk in the hizouse! And we found out yesterday, probably the earliest in the country top that!

superhero superheroOG 2004

uh dude i got you beat by over one month

magnum magnumOG 2001

the official announcment isn't supposed to be till the week of the first, check the km

web-toedchloe web-toedchloeOG 2001

I think it says "the service meeting" the week of the first.

web-toedchloe web-toedchloeOG 2001

That's also the most packed because a lot of people have off from work that friday; No parking, tight seating.

malibu malibuOG 2001

really? maybe you guys are actually with us this year. ya know, seeing as how we share the hall.

juicymango juicymangoOG 2003

wow, i wonder if this means no more philly?!

I would be so happy just to hear the words "no more philly"

hmm i can't wait to find out where ours is

it better not be at Turnersville a.k.a. snorefest, that assembly hall is so boring! After going to Stanley Theater most of my life nothing else compares

I mean it's a nice assembly hall and perfect for its purpose but NOTHING compares to Stanley Theater!

superhero superheroOG 2004

stanley theater is NOTHING compared to newburgh

newburgh has seats like a brand new movie theater, with extra leg room

juicymango juicymangoOG 2003

wow wow i must check it out. Yeah, leg room would be nice at the Stanley.

superhero superheroOG 2004

haha, maybe they should renovate ..

that was a JOKE, people.

thatdarngirl thatdarngirlOG 2002

Newburgh has the greatest seats ever.

beachbum beachbumOG 2002

newburgh is the most comfortable hands down, but as to beauty and artistic merit, nothing beats the stanley. not even all the granite in newburgh.

thefunkyfresh thefunkyfreshFounder

what's wrong with philly? i always liked philly, easy drive there, new clean facility, air conditioning, plus you're in a city with stuff to do after

juicymango juicymangoOG 2003

I loathe Philadelphia. I'm not sure why. At first when I moved down here I kinda liked Philly but i just thought, eh, I like New York better. And I loved living close to NYC and just being able to go there any time. And I think I started to miss that more and more. And now, i have actual hate for philly. I don't really know why. Maybe it's all the reports of murders and "city in crisis" specials on the news. Maybe it's because the news people for Philadelphia are dumb and annoying. I really don't know why I hate it so much but I just do! If I never have to step foot in Philadelphia again, I'll be happy.

New York has structure to me, I know it pretty well, and I like the subway system even. Philadelphia annoys me. I don't know it, and I don't like it. haha.

is it rational? NO! Do I hate the ask the question and then answer it yourself kind of speaking? YES! Do I do it? YES. Why? I don't know.

thefunkyfresh thefunkyfreshFounder

hahaha... too funny

no it's true, philly is nothing compared to nyc, every thing closes early and is closed on sunday unlike nyc, it's impossible to find even a deli open sunday morning. plus the bums are so annoying in philly. but i do think it's a good place for a convention, plus there's always fresh prince of bel air reruns and at least 3 will smith movies on tv at any given time

juicymango juicymangoOG 2003

hahaha true, true

yeah i think it's just because I love New York and I'm so far from it :(

thefunkyfresh thefunkyfreshFounder

well it's a good thing you're going to reading then, cuz ya know... reading... come on, serious metropolis right there

juicymango juicymangoOG 2003

yeah. BUSTLING.

haha

web-toedchloe web-toedchloeOG 2001

Hahaha - I feel the same way. A couple from our hall keeps asking us to go to the Philly art museum with them, and I don't think I can because I miss the Met so much. There's just no place like New York. :(

thefunkyfresh thefunkyfreshFounder

my mom says there's some pretty great museums in philly though... i'd like to check em out

A
alexOG 2001

the Philadelphia museum of art is as good as the met. the Rodin exhibit they have is awesome...and they got those steps that rocky ran up in rocky 1.

forrestina forrestinaOG 2002

my mom says that too. this one's her fave: http://www.collphyphil.org/mutter.asp I haven't been there yet.

I have been to the mutter museum, its actually a very interesting museum, if your into medical things and stuff... It was a studying museum for all those learning about the medical field and for surgeries and stuff, but now its outdated for that, so they just turned it into a straight medical museum...

forrestina forrestinaOG 2002

I was just there yesterday. Cezanne to Picasso exhibit is almost over-you should try to make it there if you haven't yet. I especially liked the Americans in Paris exhibit. (Oh and on a sidenote: I saw Ethan Hawke there with his children. Hello hottie!!)

yay yayOG 2004

IMO cities, are nasty. Except LA was pretty cool.

theremin thereminOG 2002

First year since I've been alive my Cong. won't be assigned to a Convention in Philly. 'Twill be quite a change. We got the announcement of Jersey City tonight. It was a funny sight watching everybody turn to each other, like ... wha?? wow .. . hmmm wow

if we're gonna have to spend a weekend in a city i've never seen before it better at least have something interesting to look at hahaha

thefunkyfresh thefunkyfreshFounder

that is FARRRR... i drove out there once, took like 3 hours

socalgal socalgalOG 2003

OMG i could not imagine having DC 3 hours away. ours is only 15 mins. away

web-toedchloe web-toedchloeOG 2001

I think Hackettstown - Reading is probably closer to 2 hours or less. It's only about 50 minutes from me.

coreyfeldman coreyfeldmanOG 2003

Mine is in Reading July 6,7,8.

theremin thereminOG 2002

60 miles northwest of Philly. Strangely enough, the first year I don't get assigned to Philly and get assigned Jersey City instead, I might be moving to Philly, the first year there's no Philly Conventions and wind up going to Reading Convention. Ironic.

forrestina forrestinaOG 2002

we're in Reading sometime in August. I've been away so I have to get the dates from someone tomorrow.
