so lets bring this up after a few months...in celebration of the new fall out boy album i always had their first 2 albums, but i could never really listen the whole way through. there were brigh...
Well I don't like the "pop-punk" sound at all, so the music they make will never sound good to me, regardless of whether they can play it well live or not. It is overly produced in the sense that the sound is not creative. I do like bands that interesting and produced, like The Life and Times, for example. Their music isn't like what's all over the radio, and that's what I want to listen to. Think about older musicians too, like Peter Frampton hooking up a modulator to his throat and guitar to produce an amazing sound. Creativity is what I'm looking for, and Fallout Boy does not have it.
As far as lyric, why would you not demand a band with good lyrics all the time? I don't read books that are poorly written, I don't want to listen to music that's poorly written. I've said before that the Ataris are a band who write catchy music, but whose lyrics occasionally suck. I still have their albums because they're fun to listen to when you're in a fun mood, or at parties; and a few songs on each of their albums are well-written. But they're probably the only band in that "fun" genre that I can stomach for half and hour straight.
