there's also a brother in my hall who kind of mumbles and there's this ongoing joke that no one can understand what he says and it just sounds like "mumblemumblemumble sandwich mumblemumblemumble" ...

We have a brother from Cameroon, where they speak French, and his accent was really thick a few years ago, when he first moved here, but it's much better now. Still, all the older sisters in the hall giggle and say they can't understand him. They say they just smile when he talks, trying to follow along. :P
