think about mcdonalds... billions and billions served vs. a little out of the way restaurant that nobody knows about but serves great food. that's what the man does, puts music into easy t...
i'm not huge into that genre, but just off the top of my head maybe guys like billy hector, johnny winters, walter trout, or some of the other rock/blues guys. or maybe government mule or railroad earth. i don't know there's tons out there you've never heard of and a lot that are even closer to the genre than i mentioned
bela fleck and the flecktones, they rock. buddy rich was as good and some say even better than neal peart. the guys in living colour are amazing musicians. vernon reid of living colour is said to be one of the greatest guitarists of all time, and many people say that will calhoun, also of living colour is as good or better than neil peart, and corey glover the vocalist is an astronomically better vocalist than geddy lee.
if you know so much about rush, you would know that are not in the rock and roll hall of fame. does that mean they are not good? no. but they are not as mainstream as you might think.
Yes, I do know that they are not in there.
I was at a BBQ today and I told one guy about the discussion I was having about Indie music. Spoon started playing on the radio in his car when we were leaving and he was like "This music is horrible!" LOL!!!
spoon is on the radio?
they have so gone mainstream!
Reid plays a good guitar, just listened, but the band sucks. Just sounds annoying to me.
okay, they suck. you are such an authority on music. you really sound like you know what you are talking about when you say that one of the greatest rock groups of all time, composed of some of the greatest musicians of our time, sucks.
But according to everyone else in here, music is art and there are no greatest of all times. It's in fact subjective.
I view these guys as some view Rush. They play their instruments well, but don't sound that great when everything is mixed together.
I could say you don't know what you are talking about when you try to deny the laws of physics in sports.
You just have to accept that punk sounding bands and other kinds of rock just are not widely accepted as good music. If you like it that is your preference.
studies have been done that have determined the what the hardest sports are. if i remember correctly it was in order boxing, hockey, soccer, and then football. i don't remember where baseball or other sports were on the list, but it doesn't even matter to me.
the way i see it is like this; i don't care if rush is better than any of the bands i like at playing music, because i can play music better than you can. and i don't care if baseball is a harder sport to play than football, because i can play sports better than you can.
neil peart would laugh at you if he heard your argument. and he would probably be pissed at you if he heard you say that living colour, strung out, etc. suck.
The sports you listed have to do with endurance.
Cockiness... I like it. It will be your undoing. Haha...
Hey whatever. Most musicians respect each others work. So I don't care what he says.
