My friend Emily Has waist length hair and she did this style for a winter formal and she didn't hack off anything she just used jumbo bobby pins strategically placed from beneath. Just so you know, just incase you haven't fully committed to the idea of the BIG SNIP
my hair is WAY too thick to use bobby pins. in fact just doing the girl fohawk 
i need like 5 bobby pins and thats for such a small amound of hair.
its pretty much all or nothing. and im in love with the 40's swing style. ive been looking for a hair cut that is 1/2 modern & 1/2 40's andi think this is it! if i hate it, itll grow back in a year. my hair grows at a rediculous rate. last year this time my hair was just above my shoulders...

i ahve waist length hair too and have been contemplating cutting it too...but everytime im sitting in "the chair" i get scared and jsut trim it. right now im experimenting w/color so im getting a total change w/o having to cut it
yea, ive done so many different crazy things with my hair, actually i think theres a story on here from like 5 eyars ago about it. but in the end, it always grows back :)

Everytime I'm in "the chair" they hack of a lot when I always say trim, last summer I lost three inches. I mean my hair grows fast but, I was really excited when I walked in the door I was on my way to where I wanted to be...when I walked out I was fuming! Then the stylist goes "No Mami it only looks short because I flipped it up, when it falls it'll still be long." Ummmmm it fell and it was barely collarbone. From that day forward I have not sat in Mary's chair.
right now the base color is dark brown and it has a mix of light, red and light brown highlights. its step one of the lightening process. i really like it....it actually looks like ive been out in the sun a lot.
