at our convention people sat up in the sky boxes and typed on their laptops. it seemed a little weird to me, but I think our CO even had his laptop out, I figured that was for something important....

I'd think it would be distracting to everyone else around to take notes that way - they were probably working on something. Plus, having taken notes of work-relating and RBC meetings, if you're typing what someone's saying, you really can't get the point. I type like 80 wpm and I was getting frustrated trying to keep up.
