sometimes it's the DUMBEST stuff that makes me mad...

This morning I came into work and my coworker happily informed me that she and her son were in the office over the weekend and because her son didn't like my chair, they brought it downstairs to storage and gave me some other used chair. FOUR years, I've sat on that chair and never once complained. My "new" chair has stains on it that I have to wash off plus readjust it. I think she's upset I'm not thanking her.

B
brothermanOG 2004 ·

Beat her up. LOL! Coworkers suck.

Well, my ex pissed me off yesterday, so I feel tense today. Plus Jake was throwing his football around in my living room and knocked over a candle last night. A lit candle! Hot wax got all over my TV stand, the wall, and the back of the TV. I spent a half hour or so chiseling the hardened wax off of everything. So he got put to bed early for almost potentially starting a fire. What else happened yesterday.... Oh yes... Emily threw a huge tantrum in Walmart and decided to rip my coat open, somehow messing up the zipper. I managed to fix it. She got thrown in her room for a nap for that fiasco. Back to the ex... A woman living 20 hours away from her children was lecturing me about how I raise our children. Needless to say, that conversation ended up in a blowout.

you probably need to give her the katie "catty cake face." your old chair will return to it's original place by the end of the day.

nah i've got at least 10 or 15 years left... besides i don't eat junk food and i work out 5 or 6 days most weeks so i should be fine as long as i keep it up

yeah, wait until you've been married a while and you can't go to the gym as much ...

it's so funny tho everyone's always like "you just wait there sonny until you get fat and lazy like me!!! then you won't be working out so much!"

superhero superheroOG 2004 ·

yeah, i never thought i'd say that until it became harder and harder. now i go to the gym at lunch, 3 - 4 days/week. my days of working out 5 - 6/week are completely over.

i remember paulie telling me back when lauren and i were engaged "I gained like 20 pounds when we got married" and i swore in that moment that i never would let that happen. I've gained about 5 lbs in 2 yrs of marriage, so I guess I'm ok with that.

you're right. i lost 5lbs in three days once. working at a granite company. a girl would have to bust her butt for a week to do that. and if she GAINS that much she's ready to hang herself. a guy wants to lose five pounds? all he has to do is stop eating fast food for a week or two.

But thankfully, yesterday i wore my orange sweater, (not remember today is holloween) so obviously i couldn't wear it two days in a row. phew.

Well, make sure of another thing. A really good FYI. Don't wear orange on St. Patrick's Day either. NO WAY

A-Rod in L.A.? Odds say yes

You can bet on this: Alex Rodriguez will be playing for the Angels or Dodgers on Opening Day in 2008.

Really, you can bet on it. Now that Rodriguez has opted out of his lucrative New York Yankees contract to become a free agent, a proposition bet on where he might land is being offered by the gambling Web site www.bodoglife.com.

The site is giving 3-to-1 odds that Rodriguez will be wearing Angels red next season, the lowest odds on the board. Just behind the Angels are the Dodgers, coming in at 4-to-1 to land A-Rod.

superhero superheroOG 2004 ·

so how does that work?

there was a promotion that people who bought furniture at this store before last baseball season would get the stuff for free if the red sox won the world series. they won, so a ton of people are getting rebates on the stuff they got, some for thousands of dollars. pretty sweet

Picked up Guitar Hero for the Wii last night. $96 including tax from Target ... I found that to be highly ridiculous, but I refuse to buy any more stupid mini-games (Mario Party 8 was enough, thank you) and the Wii is collecting dust while I play my xbox from 2002 ...

so last night I popped the game in, put the wiimote in the guitar (it's all wireless, not sure if the other consoles are) and started playing. I left to get dressed for a bible study and found Lauren playing it ... which was weird but very cool.

The game also has online play ... I signed on to see, and there was ONE person I could find to play with, who was amazing. He must have had the game for like 5 years. I quickly quit.

Can someone give me a step by step instruction for fixing a computer with a virus? I have a Windows XP cd, and am going to try reinstalling windows.

superhero superheroOG 2004 ·

are you sure you need to re-install windows? when was the last time that's be done? (if it's 3+ years, i'd do the re-install. if not, don't bother).

Do you have all the appropriate drivers or other CDs that came with your computer?

If you do re-install windows, make sure you have the network card/wireless card driver somewhere else (thumb drive, cd, etc). If you reinstall windows and don't have a network driver, you can't go online to get the network driver WITHOUT the network driver (like a catch-22).

Norton Antivirus is kinda crappy, because people get it for free and don't realize it stops updating unless they pay for it. So the antivirus was probably years out of date.

so last night Lauren and I went to look at some new apartments. Ours is ok, but we have to use the complex laundry mat and we have some odd neighbors.

We looked at one SUPER CREEPY place in Paramus, and then an AWESOME, AMAZINGLY beautiful apartment in Westwood, right near the center of town. (Westwood has a nice downtown area, Starbucks, old-school record store, GAP, tons of cool resturants, train station, etc. We hang out there sometimes, just b/c it's so nice.)

The apartment had all wood floors, huge rooms, large screened in porch, and the guy was willing to put in a washer/dryer for us. He said if we stayed 2 years (which we probably would) he'd re-do the kitchen for us after 1 yr.

Only problem - the guy wants $1625, including water/heat/gas. Electric would be more. We've got a budget, and that's a little too high for us reaching our goal of Lauren working part time - ARGH.

superhero superheroOG 2004 ·

yeah, 2 bedroom. We'd not be in our territory anymore, but MUCH closer to the hall. (good for KH BS, right?)

(long story, our sister cong. got dissolved and our hall was in their territory, so now our new territory is HUGE and involves at least 12 towns.)

tesoro tesoroOG 2001 ·

Honestly, i think that's a waste of money. You could get a cute little house with a mortgage of that price monthly, but at least then, you're money would be going into the equity of your home.

superhero superheroOG 2004 ·

a cute little house where? certainly not anywhere within 50 miles of where we live/work.

starting houses here are $350,000, here, no lie, and really crappy for that. The best I can figure, we'd be looking at a $3,000/month house payment at a miniumum.

tesoro tesoroOG 2001 ·

hmm, what's your town/zip code? you can buy a fixer upper.

g.f.s.rocks g.f.s.rocksOG 2001 ·

HAHAHAHA a fixer upper house in any town around us is somewhere near $300,000

superhero superheroOG 2004 ·

zip is 07646. we'd like anywhere within a 10 mile radius of our zip, as long as it's not a scary town.

(thanks for backing me up giac - PA is a little different .... )

even if we did get a fixer upper, i'd have to spend $$ to fix it up ... that would make no sense. Plus time that could be used toward service/meetings/studies ...

tesoro tesoroOG 2001 ·

http://www.century21.com/buy/property_detail.aspx?tr_key=34017282

If you really look into a fixer upper, it is kind of a headache, but worth the effort. You can put 10-20K into a house and have it be worth 50-60K more.

theremin thereminOG 2002 ·

Yeah its true, PA is a little different... In fact the closer you get to PA and farther you get from NYC it gets cheaper... I wonder why...

tesoro tesoroOG 2001 ·

You're so annoying. PA is one of the most beautiful states in the country. It's close to Baltimore, DC, Philly. We have good schools, great value for houses, and a lot of work in many fields. Me & Austin have now bought, rented and sold 2 multi-unit homes, and we are on our 3rd. Think we could do that with houses at $300K? I doubt it. PA has been pretty good to us.

g.f.s.rocks g.f.s.rocksOG 2001 ·

No you couldn't and Im not saying PA hasnt been good to you guys, but for those who have good paying jobs out here, where we couldnt get half that much living out in PA finding the fixer uppers for cheap doesnt come easily. PA is a great place to start when your newly married...

AND you cant compare Baltimore, DC and ESPECIALLY Philly to NYC...

honestly thats a good price for a 2 bedroom. you said its nice, quaint neighborhood. does it come with washer dryer hook up so you dont ahve to worry about a laundromat?

here you'll pay that for an "ok" neighborhood

g.f.s.rocks g.f.s.rocksOG 2001 ·

How much was the place in Paramus.... and where was it?

superhero superheroOG 2004 ·

it was right off fairview, near the jewish synagogue center. i got really confused over there, because i thought it was near the panera, but that was spring valley not fairview. anyway, still creepy. and $1350.

g.f.s.rocks g.f.s.rocksOG 2001 ·

$1,350... I still think thats a bit much... for that area. My brother and Mario rented an apt in Ridgewood for $1,400. It had 3 bedrooms a kitchen and living room with 2 bathrooms... a much better value than that...

superhero superheroOG 2004 ·

yeah, that is. Ridgewood is nowhere near our hall, but that is a good deal. was that recently? how did they find it?

superhero superheroOG 2004 ·

end result of the story is that after a long night of talking and praying, we told the owner what we could comfortably afford, and he said "i like you guys - let me talk to my wife" ... so we started praying again... but i guess his wife laid the smack down.

and of COURSE, that night, at our hall, they announced that we were going to have an RBC project at our hall the exact w/end we were planning on moving. so i guess we are getting some indications...

juicymango juicymangoOG 2003 ·

so last night at the meeting i had a talk which i decided not to miss just because of my stupid knee

and i decided to just not wrap my knee or wear the brace i just realllly do not want to call attention to it, and i figured, my talk is in the back school, i'll just sit in the back and all i have to do is sit up front it'll be like 5 steps away

sooooooooooooooooooo i find out, at the meeting, that the person doing the talk in the front main hall did not show up so i had to do it up front
and i'm like.. crap, crap i have to go up on stage, crappy crap crap

yeah i almost fell haha

i felt my knee buckle a tiny bit going up the little stage stairs, and then going down the stage i kind of stepped down on my bad leg and wobbled a little

and the brother said something like "so nice that you made it even though your leg is not up to par" and everyone was looking as I wobbled back to my seat

ugh. i hate attention haha.

i would have definitely wrapped it or somethingif i knew i was gonna be walking up and down the whole kingdom hall and going up steps

The end.

superhero superheroOG 2004 ·

that "back school to front school switch" happens often, the school overseer acts like it's ok but sometimes it can be traumatic if you weren't expecting it

juicymango juicymangoOG 2003 ·

yeah it made me panic a tiny bit - but it was weird because i was kind of panicked about my leg so i didn't feel nervous about the actual talk, ha

socalgal socalgalOG 2003 ·

awww...well at least you still made it to the front...was it hurting bad last night?

juicymango juicymangoOG 2003 ·

it just felt really uncomfortable - like the swelling is still there and it just feels so weird like not being comfortable in any position basically because of the tightness and swelling.. and it kinda hurts today a little, i think i've been doing too much like all day yesterday i walked around with nothing on it, sooo today i'm icing it and keeping it in the brace

superhero superheroOG 2004 ·

hey a sister in my hall asked me to study with her son - what's good for a 9 year old?

g.f.s.rocks g.f.s.rocksOG 2001 ·

How about "Learn From The Great Teacher"?

tesoro tesoroOG 2001 ·

yea, that's what i was thinking. Of course, we didn't have that book when i was 9, but my fav was always the bible stories book.

tesoro tesoroOG 2001 ·

to this day, when discussing a topic at the meeting, i recall the bible stories book illustrations more than any other publication.

socalgal socalgalOG 2003 ·

we had the pink book, listening to the great teacher....you dont remember that?

tesoro tesoroOG 2001 ·

huh? yea, i remember that, but we didnt have learn from the great teacher, the "new" large book.

socalgal socalgalOG 2003 ·

no i know that but the new one is part of listening from the great teacher. you mentioned you wished you ahd the learning one so i mentioned we had the listening one growing up.

ok im confusing, leave me alone. lol

tesoro tesoroOG 2001 ·

haha, i'm confused. The new one is part of the old one? The listening from the great teacher didnt excite me as much when i was a kid, cuz the pictures werent as good as the bible story book.

superhero superheroOG 2004 ·

yeah i was thinking about the Require Brochure but maybe we can start with the Listen to the Great Teacher book.

iwz iwz ·

does he have any knowledge already? because the Bible Story book would be great for him too, at that age. in fact, I need to read that book again. It's chronological!

superhero superheroOG 2004 ·

oh. he's been to a lot of meetings with his mom, and he knows what's going on. also he's pretty sharp. maybe we'll try the Great Teacher book.

socalgal socalgalOG 2003 ·

i was thinking the bible story book too. when i get stuck w/certain studies or talks i still refer to that ook. lol simplifies it all

tesoro tesoroOG 2001 ·

so seriously, i'm trying so hard to talk my husband into this trip. Listen up guys, this is a great deal. The boston aquarium is cool, but the science museaum is awesome! it's so much fun. There is a ton of good shopping and places to eat around quincey market.

it's a great city, easy to navigate.

Boston is a great city... you will love it. You have to checkout Fenway Park (Best American League Ball Park EVER!) and by there you will find some cool restaurants/pubs/bars. Quincy market is very nice, touristy, but nice. I love the history around Boston. You will have a great time!

superhero superheroOG 2004 · g.f.s.rocks

boston is a little small for my liking. i feel a little too ... crowded in there, kind of like i could see everything in an hour if i walked fast.

my favorite parts of boston are the ... back streets behind the mall (argh mind blank on the name) - it's like the art store section of town, there are a TON of used cd stores and other good stuff, filled with hidden gems. I got a great acoustic Toad the Wet Sprocket CD from one, made my weekend. (AND THEN MATT DELLAQUILLA STOLE IT!)

this is so fitting for today in SoCal:

Somewhere high in the desert near a curtain of blue
St. Anne's skirts are billowing
But down here in the city of limelights
The fans of Santa Ana are withering
And you can't deny the living is easy
If you never look behind the scenery
It's Showtime for dry climes
And bedlam is dreaming of rain

When the hills of Los Angeles are burning
Palm trees are candles in the MURDER wind
So many lives are on the breeze
Even the stars are ill at ease
And Los Angeles is burning

This is not a test
of the emergency broadcast system
When Malibu fires and radio towers
Conspire to dance again
And I cannot believe the Media Mecca
They're only trying to peddle reality
Catch it on Prime Time
Story at nine
The whole world is going insane

theremin thereminOG 2002 ·

I discovered a map of the Fires on Google tonight at work

Last we talked to my Aunt about my cousins... the fires weren't in their area. I wouldn't doubt if they had to evacuate since then judging from this map.

And I heard on Internet Radio tonight (strangely enough a Radio station in Wigan, Lancashire, England) that there hasn't been a evacuation of this size since the Civil War!
