morning, all.
how was your long weekend?
very, very good. very busy. yours?
yeah, def. beautiful, beautiful weather. i don't think we'll have as nice a weekend all summer long.
we spent sunday and monday with my Uncle and his wife in the Bronx. went in service and to the Castle Hill congregation. Very nice and warm group there. Monday we went to the NY Botanical Gardens, a street fair in midtown, and dinner in the East Village.
sounds great. never been to the botanical gardens. should check it out. saturday night i visited some friends in franklin park. sunday i went on my friends boat, but it was too windy to wakeboard. grrr. monday i went to a bonfire at island beach state park. i'm pooped today.
i had my district convention. i am exhausted.
highlights of the district convention are as follows:
1. we get new stuff
2. we watch a drama
3. brother algian gives talks.
4. Giacomo owns a Jesus style robe.
also - this may go without saying- my back dislikes the chairs at the Stanley Theater.
Awesome! We don't have ours for a while yet.
Stanley's seats are certainly horribly uncomfortable.
It wasnt Jesus style... I would call it more of a Paul or James the brother of John style...
I knowww. i've noticed too that the seats up top are a bit smaller than the seats down below. i'm not even that tall [5'9] and the seats up there killed me.
This movie was just all right. too much indy iconography. the soft camera filters made me wince along with the overuse of "out-of-nowhere" moody lighting. too many stereotypical characters. lots of stale biscuit dialogue. it was apparent that it was filmed almost entirely in a studio. some of the action was a little TOO unbelievable. shia swinging from vine to vine with the monkey platoon almost made me run out of the theater screaming...
still, somehow i really enjoyed and it want to see it again soon.
the tarzan part is what pushed me over the edge from "dislike" to "extreme dislike".
i just realized i commented in the wrong place. but, yeah, that tarzan thing totally bummed me out. and you're right, dude--- if you like indy go pick up the trilogy before they make you buy the quadrilogy box set with kingdom of the crystal turd included. maybe they shouldn't have squeezed this one out... the first three were just too good.
