I've actually heard that guys do a lot better with tips and clientele if they act feminine. People expect gay guys to give better haircuts than straight guys, I guess. So, he was probably just acting all gay-like, either for you, or for other people there at the time.
The best haircut I've ever gotten was from a straight guy. He was beautiful.
