Car Insurance

I admit, I don't have a clean driving record. I wish I did because I'm sure that my insurance would be a lot lower. So I just got my bill and I'll be paying $1,152.00. For you NJ drivers I bet that sounds pretty good. I know my bill would be much lower if I didn't have 3 accidents on my record. So let's complain about car insurance. Hey, if you want to complain about health insurance be my guest. I can't even afford that at this point in time and I need an inhaler.

wow, this thread is OLDDDDD

getting married has to be the best thing EVER for my car insurance. As soon as I got married, my car insurance dropped $1000. (As a reference, when I turned 25 it dropped $100.)

This year, my wife got into an accident, got a ticket, I got a ticket a while back that finally caught up with me, I got a newer car, and our insurance STILL dropped by a couple hundred dollars. I don't understand but I love NJ Cure forever.

Right now, here's the breakdown -

2004 Dodge SRT-4 - $1600 (full comp)
2000 Mazda 626 - $1400 (full comp)

I remember having my 95 Acura Integra around 2002, 2003 - I was paying $3300/yr. for ONE car. Insanity.

iwz #10.1 iwz

I was in the same boat as you for a while man. Paying like $3800 for a long time. Got married, dropped a LOT.

I was with NJ Cure for a couple of years, and I was paying about $2400 for our two cars with full coverage. A bit less than you're paying with them now, but in the same ballpark.

After our tickets and accidents were gone (3 years), we switch to NJ Manufacturers, and we're now paying $1400 for the same coverage on the same two cars.

And I hear State Farm is actually cheaper than NJM. Shop around dude, I think you can do better!

superhero #10.1.1 superheroOG 2004

yeah but shouldn't we wait until all our stuff is gone? right now we are heavily taking advantage of "accident forgiveness".

iwz #10.1.1.1 iwz

well, i know you can't get into NJM unless you have a completely clean record. But you should still check out State Farm and maybe Geico. Even with some accidents on there. doesn't hurt to check

englandkid #10.1.1.2 englandkidOG 2003

didnt you have NJM before? Cause if youve ever had it, you can always have it again. What accident was Lauren in??

juicymango juicymangoOG 2003

REALLY? even if you no longer work for a participating company or whatever?

englandkid englandkidOG 2003

yeah my dad used to have NJM and now because i was on the policy i have NJM on my own policy and i never worked for one of those type of companies that you need to work for and they told me that i can ALWAYS have it. my dad doesnt work for that same company and he still has NJM too. its the bestest! AND YOU GET REBATES!! wohoo!!

superhero superheroOG 2004

yeah you know what, dad never paid for my insurance, i always paid for my own (except when we lived in england) so I GUESS I'M MAD AT YOU BECAUSE YOU'RE STUPID!!!!!!

englandkid englandkidOG 2003

no, Im mad at YOU BECAUSE YOUR STUPID!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i have geico, and i pay like $1300 a year for full coverage on my 2005 mazda 3. when i get married it's supposed to go down a lot, i think the one quote i got, i'm barely paying anything extra for the second car.

i paid about the same for comprehensive on my 1990 volvo when i was under my parents insurance. i forget who they have.

Wow, I was definitely living in PA when I wrote this. I wish I only paid 1,200 a year. NJ is no joke.

B

I think I pay under $1000, but my car is a hunk of junk. NJ just sucks all-around. I am soooo moving away soon...

fivezero #8 fivezeroOG 2003

My car insurance just went down. I'm finally seeing my long past vehicular indiscretions melt away by the blistering heat of time.

Ya'll got nothing to complain about....

$4.40US/Gl (Converted from CA$1.157/l)

Over 25, full discount $1850US/yr car insurance

13% VAT on EVERYTHING

OOH, and the personal income tax... ugh.

C

I met two canadian chicks who were saying that over like $75k they take half...

M
#7.2.1 monsterEst. 2006

This is correct "Canadians pay the top marginal income tax rate (combined federal and provincial) of 52 percent on an income of just $59,000. Taxpayers in the United States pay the top rate of 47 percent only when their income hits the equivalent of $351,000 Canadian."

Don't even get me started about car insurance....I'm sure some of you enjoyed my story last fall pertaining to Geico.

walkngplaygrnd #5 walkngplaygrndOG 2003

wow, maybe my insurance isn't that bad . . . I have full coverage on the mistress, and liability on the wife and the guilder-van . . . for almost $2800 a yr. That's actually not that bad, considering . . .

fivezero #5.1 fivezeroOG 2003

thats really good.

T

oh man, gas is creeping towards $1.60/gallon for just regular. that's a crime. when i was a senior in high school gas was way cheaper. i miss the good ole days.

theremin #4.1 thereminOG 2002

complaints about $1.60/gallon hahaha so funny reading old comments

G
#4.1.1 gizmoEst. 2006

Seriously. It's getting hard to find gas under $3/gallon now.

juicymango #3 juicymangoOG 2003

Um.. I have Allstate, my husband and I both have clean driving records, and we have two kinda old cars at the moment.. so we only have the coverage that's required by law, i never remember if that's collision or liability, anyway we only have one because the cars are worth very little hehe. So we pay about $100.00 a month for car insurance, and I'm almost 25 so it's gonna drop even more. haha. Hate me.

ilikebirds #2 ilikebirdsOG 2002

Yea ... 3000! for liability on my jeep. No accidents. 1 ticket. Yea.. NJ SUCKS

iwz #1 iwz

$1,152.00 isn't that bad. just watch out when you move to NJ... big time shocker. ugh. try to stay with your current insurance company if you can.

i so can't wait till august. both my wife and I will finally be over 25. big time insurance drop. *pick it up DING!*

right now my insurance is like $3800/yr for two cars with full coverage. i'm gonna try to get NJ Manufacturers insurance through my company in a coupla months when I have no points on my license anymore. I think I can cut that rate in half.

T
#1.1 toxicgirlOG 2003

My company is Progressive. I've already checked and they don't offer insurance in the area where I'll be living. But maybe that won't count since I am already a customer??-I have no idea. I can't wait till my 3 points go away. And I am gonna try to be accident free from now on. At least till the insurance drops when I turn 25...3 yrs from now.

fivezero #1.1.1 fivezeroOG 2003

accident free for three years and beyond, hon! i don't want you to get hurt.

skaorsk8 #1.2 skaorsk8OG 2002

yo ian...i pay more than you, and i'm only one person...my car is older than yours, i drive 3 miles to work, and i have no points on my license...WOWWWW now i'm frustrated

skaorsk8 #1.2.1 skaorsk8OG 2002

OK...i just got a quote from NJ Cure this morning...and it's...get this $1300 less per year than what i'm paying RIGHT NOW. $1300 is a sweet downpayment on an apt. WOOOSH

iwz #1.2.1.1 iwz

Yeah, I have NJ Cure right now. It was a lot less than my old insurance company: Amica. Then I got married, and that dropped even further.

socalgal #1.2.2 socalgalOG 2003

WOW, I have NOTHING to complain about. But our laws are a little weirder. But yeah after reading these i am most thankful for what I have =)

thefunkyfresh #1.3 thefunkyfreshFounder

i just applied for NJM last week.... I hope they accept me!!

magnum #1.4 magnumOG 2001

2300 or so a year for 2 cars, it should actually drop to like 2 grand but im to lazy to call, 1500 is insane with 3 accidents, i would be paying like 4 grand if i had that many accidents.

starshiptrooper #1.5 starshiptrooperOG 2003
