I think it not true, especially if you hurt people in the process.

hunkpapap hunkpapapOG 2003 ·

I think this statement is conditional, yet false. Not all is fair. Because if you are doing whatever possible to 'hook' someone, are you in love? I don't think so.

In war obviously you must do whatever it takes to win, because you are worldy and it doesn't matter because you are going to die anyway.

tinser tinserOG 2002 ·

yes! another thread recycled! thanks pat!

hunkpapap hunkpapapOG 2003 ·

anytime, resurrection of MEANINGFUL threads...

tinser tinserOG 2002 ·

wow, thats a really good point about "all being fair in love"....i've never heard anyone say that before, but it's so true, so i guess they should change the saying to like and war, or infatuation and war, uh...romantic interest and war?

thefunkyfresh thefunkyfreshFounder ·

go to kazaa and search for a video file called "the state love and war". so funny.

wow this was so before youtube

ophelia opheliaOG 2003 ·

Yeah, no validity at all to this love & war statement here......Funny how widely used this comment is, wonder who actually lives by this standard...Cause screwin over friends & stuff like that to get girls is just silly

forrestina forrestinaOG 2002 ·

thatdarngirl thatdarngirlOG 2002 · forrestina

Born in Teaneck and lived in Fort Lee for four years. My sister lived there for 8 and my parents had lived in different parts of Bergen for a long time, my dad since he was a kid.

ophelia opheliaOG 2003 · omegatweeter

tinser tinserOG 2002 ·

yodasucka yodasuckaOG 2003 · tinser

g.f.s.rocks g.f.s.rocksOG 2001 · yodasucka

g.f.s.rocks g.f.s.rocksOG 2001 · tinser

tinser tinserOG 2002 · g.f.s.rocks

its true, sometimes you gotta make mistakes to get anywhere in life

g.f.s.rocks g.f.s.rocksOG 2001 · tinser

Good thinking... who says you werent smart??

tinser tinserOG 2002 · g.f.s.rocks

probably daniel m hill

ophelia opheliaOG 2003 · tinser

yes, I do recall dan saying something along those lines to me once..But I stuck up for you, saying that you were smarter than he'd ever be..he than began to cry, when he realized maybe this was true..So i said, in hopes of consoling him, "Cheer up, she may be smarter than you, but you'd probably beat her in an arm wrestle"..this fact made him happy again

tinser tinserOG 2002 · ophelia

hahaha, this was a nice little story, i liked it...and yes, he definitely would beat me at arm wrestling

ophelia opheliaOG 2003 informative · tinser

That is, unless you entrusted me w/the job of being your personal trainer..I'd turn you into an Arnold Swarzanegar-ette....w/arms thicker than tree trunks..then, you could not only out smart him, but, kick his butt too

tinser tinserOG 2002 · ophelia

hmm, okay......i'd like that...being smarter then dan just isnt enough

malibu malibuOG 2001 · ophelia

my mom used to be a rower (you know, big long boat and you row up and down rivers in it) she showed us pictures of the girls that get scholarship for such things. they are the largest gorillas i have ever seen. its insane!!! if you want big arms, take that up.

forrestina forrestinaOG 2002 · malibu

like on a crew team?

malibu malibuOG 2001 · forrestina

yes, thank you. i was trying to think of the sport name but it just eluded me at that second. good job smartie!!!

g.f.s.rocks g.f.s.rocksOG 2001 · tinser

I truly think you could beat mister lactose intolerant at arm wrestling...

malibu malibuOG 2001 · g.f.s.rocks

thats because milk gives you strong bones and muscles and so hyldon doesn't have them. you win.

tinser tinserOG 2002 · g.f.s.rocks

hypothetically i can win, because i'm stronger, faster, smarter...let's just not test this out

g.f.s.rocks g.f.s.rocksOG 2001 · tinser

Sounds good... and I agree with you on all accounts...

hunkpapap hunkpapapOG 2003 ·

i think you like it cuz you're sister's twin is in it.

tesoro tesoroOG 2001 ·

ahh yes..Dean brought it up i think..it's so true though....

tinser tinserOG 2002 ·

yeah, but passion is acceptable and obsession is not

thatdarngirl thatdarngirlOG 2002 ·

Why isn't obsession good?

tinser tinserOG 2002 ·

swimfan

honestly...now that i'm rethinking about passion v. obsession...the line between them is getting less and less clear

thatdarngirl thatdarngirlOG 2002 ·

Like..can't you love someone soo much that you are obsessed with them? I don't think obsession has to be a bad thing.

ophelia opheliaOG 2003 ·

well, it depends on your definition of it i guess, obsession is usually connected to psychotic behavior.....you don't gota be psycho to show yer love..

fivezero fivezeroOG 2003 ·

the definition of obsession: is a persistent disturbing preoccupation with an often unreasonable idea or feeling. so, yes, that's a bad thing. ever see or hear of fatal attraction sometimes people get so attached that they can't even function without knowing exactly what their significant other is doing. the paranoia--that he may not like you, or he may be checking someone else out. the constant need of reassurances. that unbalanced fixation is oppressive and will eventually lead to a break up. obsessions in relationships shouldn't be confused with passion and they are not sweet or nice or healthy. definitely rethink this one.

thatdarngirl thatdarngirlOG 2002 ·

Interesting..is that why all those other boys kept running away?

malibu malibuOG 2001 ·

yeah but obsession need not be stalking as in swimfan.

ilikebirds ilikebirdsOG 2002 ·

most def. and it's better to have had and lost than never had at all. and kids go cuckoo for co co puffs

yodasucka yodasuckaOG 2003 ·

I think that that statement is totally false... who ever said that is a retard... if all is fair in love then is cheating ok? no! totally not! Bottom line- boys r jerks and they all need to be locked away somewhere where they can stop causing problems for us girls!

fivezero fivezeroOG 2003 ·

ah, yes. but who do guys cheat with?! GIRLS! girls are NO better. we all should be locked away. if our faults were what HE were watching, who could stand?! so, hush.

ok4now ok4nowOG 2002 ·

i submit exhibit a: potiphar's wife

yodasucka yodasuckaOG 2003 ·

!!!!you hush!!!!

ok4now ok4nowOG 2002 ·

see now, i gave you a chance to come back with shechem...but u blew it!

ophelia opheliaOG 2003 ·

haha, layin the biblical smackdown, nice.....yeah, mel, guys, and girls, are equally as messed up when it comes to relationships...and you know it

fivezero fivezeroOG 2003 ·

s'true. people don't know how to respond to a biblical choke-slam.

fivezero fivezeroOG 2003 ·

meh, bad topic. things are way too complicated to give a definitive "true" or "false." tough guys will say "yeah" until they get totally burned or remember that they have been totally burned. and girls will say no, because they're so flippin' sensetive. i think. I say WAR and LOVE should not be used in the same sentence and that NOT everything is fair in those seperate situations. i'd like to think witnesses have a pretty good idea how to go about dating and marrying without spouting silly sayings like "all is fair in love and war." i think people who use sayings like that aren't serious about their relationships and want an out when they've been careless with another individual's feelings.

g.f.s.rocks g.f.s.rocksOG 2001 ·

Agreed... there is no love in war...

E
exitstageleftOG 2003 ·

bri, your last sentence here is marvelous!!
