I have been reading the Forums and I noticed, holy mack, there is a lot of love going on in eZabel! It made me wonder, which eZabeler's are gonna get married? Or are some ppl using this site as a cheap alternative to JWmatch.com? And there are lots of ppl who post occastionally. Is that because they have found love and no longer need to use the services that Ezabel provides? Help a girl out and answer these questions for me.

The way I think about it is, would you take out an ad in the personals requesting a JW? That's how I feel about jwmatch. "A rose is a rose is a rose"....just because we were warned about "chat rooms" and not specifically about "dating websites" doesn't mean it isn't something a true Christian should avoid.
K, Daddy. I sowwy.
Okay.. I'm breaking my silence...
I met Trish (my wife) thru jwmatch... I did not publicize it to anyone in NJ or here in Cali, because of the stigma of meeting folks on-line... all I can say is, after having a very nasty experience with thinking I was getting to know someone here in ezabel who totally misrepresented herself PLUS not really knowing anyone in my old area who I clicked with, I took the plunge after much prayer and put up a free listing on jwmatch.
Trish e-mailed me within a day... we got to know each other, I spoke with her elders and theirs spoke to mine.. I needed to know her rep, make sure she was who she claimed to be. We met after a month, and got married soon after that.
The way I see it, jwmatch is no different than meeting someone at an assembly or if you visit their congregation... you need to investigate who that person is with much caution. It could be you just met a person who only goes to conventions, or you met a spiritual giant. It could be someone who is fake and phony or it could be your soulmate. The important thing is getting to know who it is you are speaking with, whether you meet on-line through jwmatch, ezabel, yahoo or another web-site.
I also don't know of any information from the Organization that condemns "Witness web-sites" (just chat rooms and that there are 2 "official" JW sites) and don't know if that local needs part did that. I know several friends that met their mates on-line. All are in my age bracket and knew themselves and what they wanted in a mate and are VERY happy with who they ended up with.. myself included. Trish and I met a year ago on-line and we'll be married a year in July. She is the answer to many prayers.
You're very fortunate that it worked out for you, but it's really no different then the examples we're warned about that was done similarly but the exact opposite was the result.
You also said, "The important thing is getting to know who it is you are speaking with, whether you meet on-line through jwmatch, ezabel, yahoo or another web-site." That's the important thing no matter where we meet. To me the web has just increased my ability to widen out so to speak. I've gotten to know several new friends on this site alone. But caution needs to be key, you're right, just because a person says they are A doesn't mean they are, they could very well be the total opposite.
When I was younger and the web wasn't what it is today, I would travel to other assemblies if I wanted to meet new people. That's how I spread out and got to know more people. But I don't see many people doing that anymore. For me personally I couldn't use a site like jwmatch or jwconnections because it would bother my conscience I think. In my hall there have been talks from the platform, local needs I beleive, that directly warned against such sites. You both did the right thing by talking to each others elders, that's commendable.
But just like this is one good example of how great it is there have been several examples of just how bad it could be as well. That's why we're cautioned about it. I'm glad everything worked out for you both though.
Thanks...
The subject came up in service today about how I came to be here and how I met my wife. We have a new pioneer couple in our congregation.. the brother is an MTS graduate and he said he would NEVER have cruised the conventions looking for a wife, but that's how he found his wife. He called her elders and she called his... similar to me and Trish.
I don't recommend my way is the best, just that it worked out for me! In any event you need to be sooooooooo careful!
The same thing can be said of someone who marries an unbeliever and then they come into the truth. Just because it worked out really well for one person doesn't mean it's a good thing to do.
I'm not saying your experience is the same as this I'm just trying to make a point.
As with anything you have to use soundness of mind to safegaurd yourself and the decisions we make are up to each one of us. It is not our place to judge one another in any decision.
If you talk to older ones in the hall, they will tell you that when they were dating talking on the telephone to a perspective partner was a not accepted. It was frowned on because you were not chaperoned. New technology always frightens people and with it comes responsibility. As was brought out in a recent article about telephone sex. We all need to be checking ourselves to make sure that what we are doing are clean before Jehovah. Whether it is dating on line, phone, or meeting ones at assemblies. The society has only cautioned to be careful. Which I agree. But for my two cents on JW match is that when you start getting into the 30-year old age group and you are looking for a partner it is difficult. Either the ones you meet are single for a reason or they are married. So to have an option like this gives hope that there is someone out there that matches what you need. I know in my circumstances of being 33 and having my husband leave the truth to marry my best friend, leaving me with three children to care for, it was important that I find someone who matched many aspects of what I needed and what my children needed. Now I am sorry but in my area I considered every single brother in my age group. All 5 of them!! So then some would say, “well you might have to wait until the new system”. Right! Then go out and have lots of attention from worldly men; to come home and be able to look on Jw Match was a blessing. It reminded me that we are worldwide. That there was a brother, someone who loved Jehovah out there for me. It gave me strength. Jehovah blessed every step of my way and continues to bless my marriage that came off JW Match. As well as the congregation. I know many in my hall that at first was leery (which I understand, as anyone who wants to make sure of what is right, should be) but now have stated how great of a choice I made. A friend of mine, just about 5 months ago went through a similar situation. She felt unsure about JW match and although looked at it never did anything with it. She was 40 and beautiful. Well now she is married to a worldly man. Now I am not saying it was because she did not look on Jw Match, because we all need to always stand for Jehovah but the point being it is hard to find someone as you get older in the truth that is single. The important thing the society always stresses no matter which way you chose to find someone is be informed! Example..My brother who was raised in the truth, along with several other of the like, hardly ever make it to the meetings but are at all the district conventions meeting girls. Given we need to always be discerning and careful and above all mature enough to be marrying with a clear head.
its sad how some people can fool themselves into thinking a course is right......when its not.
maybe delude or justify is a better word.
someone once told me humans can justify anything in their minds...i believe it...existential
Oh it's mine I found it fiiiirsst!!...oh
so evil
ya know, people always call me that...hmm
Me too. I once had a kid in school ask me if "666" was inscribed in the back of my head!
yo....have you seen that new 666 magazine??!?!...that front cover is nuts..like..emerging from the water..is this ferocious 6 headed demon-tiger w/these lil beauty pagent lookin crowns on each head, like, woah....imagine like being @ the beach...sunbathing...enjoying the summer breez...seagulls, chirping up above..& that thing just like BUSTS outa the water right in front'a you...
It's true humans can justify anything you can see that by just looking at the condition the world is in right now.
Yes it's true but at the same time it's a personal choice what someone decides to do. If there is no scritpural law on the matter then it's left up to each and everyones conscience to decide what to do.
it's sad how annoying you are.
Yeah, like how one person will have two different profiles like she's two different people... that's sad and delusional!
Ok guys, really there is no need to go over this again. Gollum... once again... why must you get everyone all stirred up? There really is no need for the personal attacks... I am sure that everyone has a different opinion on topics, thats why this website has so many users, everyone likes to share ideas and thoughts. If you dont agree, thats your own opinion. I dont know about everyone else, but im sick of everyone talking about this subject... move on.
you no what u guys have a point we were warned at the assembly last summer about what can happen they could be apostates on reproof, disfellowshipped whatever the best way to meet someone is face to face they can get to know u n you can get to know them curiosity can be very dangerous it can kill you spiritually n phsically jah has provided many ways for us to associate we cant get caught remember 1 peter 5:9 he is seeking to devour us aka kill us remember he said he can turn ne one hes been at this for thousands of years we gotta watch it its too high a price to pay
this is one LONG sentence
i just checked out the site for the first time. seriously, it's one of the funniest things i've ever seen. esp all those little pics in the corner of the home page-the guy w/ the flower in his teeth. holy crap that is hysterical
you've got to be kidding? flower in his teeth?
*the site is hysterical!
something's spookey about this site though..like...#1 it's DEFINATELY not approved of by the society, and, i dunno,i just get a weird vibe from it
Oh yeah that's for sure. I doubt they would even approve of something like this. They reccomend when looking for someone don't look and if it's truly what you need Jehovah will provide you with someone who will compliment you very well.
speaking of websites not approved by the society....
is this site not approved?? what the...??
there are only two websites approved by the society
so what you're telling me is that, this site isn't divinely inspred?!?!
wait wait, this is a completely public site. it's never claimed to be for JWs, and does not require any song numbers from the KM to sign up and post.
until NOW! quick, what's the song for next week's public talk??
HA HA HA HA HA HA
I was kidding calm down, i love you this site and just about all of it's members...
even me?! :)
go back & see if you can find B Mac..hahahaha..so funny
I DID see him!! don't even tell me that it's you. the pic was small and a little fuzzy
wwhaat??..no!!...lol, I AM NOT B-MAC!..lol, don't go startin no rumor..he had jerry curls!..i've never jerry curled my hair!..and in the pic if saw he looks a bit buff too..thus further proving it's not me..i just wanted you to see him cause his pic&profile is funny
haha SORRY! just checking for sure. yeah i went back and reread it (and the pic is obviously not you). soo funny. some of the profiles are obviously made up. but it kills me when they are like "i'm spiritual, i love doing my watchtower and taking long walks in service..." OMG! it's so hilarious yet so sad at the same time. if you are registered on that site, just take the word "spiritual" right out of your description.
isnt it a non-prophet orginization?
very funny .
haha, :::::crickets:::::
no body marks my stuff funny and sumtimes it really is!!
boo hoo
i gave you the cricket...thats better then nothing
whats a cricket? besides a bug?
it's classic
thanks, Tins!!!!
HAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
what are u laughing at?
haha... thats actually really funny
They actually ahve a FAQ page, and to join, you have to use your Kingdom Ministry, and they go by the song numbers, and that's the info you need to join. They change it every month. I must say, pretty smooth. And funny...just funny. They also have a part that says not to join if you are 1) not baptized or 2) not legally divorced and free to remarry.
Whoa.....covering their butts on this one.
It also says that they are in no way approved by the society, and for more info, see what the society ahs to say on "safe internet usage."
you have to pay to post too, dont you?
I think so.....I didn't read that far into it. I was just checking to see if a certain girl I know still had her profile up on there.
i dont get how people find people they know on there
This girl told us that she had put up a profile. That's how we knew. And while we were looking, we saw a profile of a guy we knew, too. Pretty funny.
did she put it up as a joke or for real? cause, i think we've all contemplated putting up profiles of dan hill as a joke....but c'mon, for real...thats pathetic
Well, she "claimed" it was so she could check out profiles, to see if one of her friends was up there, but having browsed through briefly and found the same friend she was looking for, without having to put up a profile of my own, it kind of makes me wonder.
too late, i'm already on there, courtesy of magnum
he prolly has one , an alias
are you ever going to grow up? seriously. i'm patiently waiting for you to act like an adult. i'm not bringing this up again.
fight! fight! fight! *all the school kids gather around in huge circle*
oh get over it! u were even more nasty to me! i'm TEASING u like u did me!
remember, this is MACKING!!!
New rule, you guys can't talk to eachother or mention eachother in your posts...this is sooooo "MOM he/she is looking out of my car window!! Make him stop!!!"
yo toxicgirl why don't you shut up for about two minutes? go cook something.
steady, padawan. i see your problem--you need to learn how to talk to girls. old and young.
oh yeah??? we there are many things you can't do but i don't go around making fun of you for them. of course i could always start...
i LOVE you guys! seriously!! even if I cant spell!
thanks starship (btw i can kinda cook, but the reason why that pasta was gross is because i was lazy. i could have made pasta instead of reheating it. however, pasta has no business being frozen and reheated THAT'S why it was gross)
i'll teach ya if u want. i'm not italian but make a great sauce!
ask my ginzo hubby, thats what we had tonite. I cooked even tho I'm sick. what a wife! (i hate to cook tho)
hah, i thought this was in response to me...i was all like "yo!"
noooooooooooooooooooooooo i love u man!
haha, thanks :)
you know whats funny, a couple of friends and i went on jwsingles.net... just to check it out to see if we knew anyone on there... and we DID! too each his(or her) own i guess!
yeah well i remember jwsingles.net and a guy i knew hooking up with sisters there, calling them his g/f's and breaking up with them after a week or two. BUT, the best was that if you ever looked at the site there weere only 4 points of 'criteria', all were either yet to be baptized, at one time married, at one time d/f'ed or rather large....
If anyone here really uses that site they might as well shoot themselves now!
hahah, very well put.
I've seen someone I know on that site. Well I know of him. It still freaks me out every time I see him at the assembly.
wow i mean i think there will be at least two ezabel weddings next year...I mean this year we had a bunch and we have to keep that up to get rid of ezabelers to make room for new ones to go on the musings page...
You're just trying to get rid of the top 20 so you can rise above.
heheheh
alright, JW match is SICK...I went to it like twice, just to laugh & make fun of it, (ended up seeing a pic and profile of somebody who actually has an sn on eZabel, who's identity I'll keep anonymous)...but, it seems like most of the people on there aren't even witnesses, it freaks me out, I'm surprised something like that even exists...but, um, yeah, there have been a lot of flirtatious exchanges on this here site recently..I'm attributing it 100% to the HGW,haha
its not iwz, on JW Match is it?
i've been sworn to secrecy
So thats a yes then, I knew it..
I KNO WHO IT IS!
actually i have a really funny story about jwmatch.com for those who wanna hear it.
so like i said we had gotten a local needs on using this site. so my good friend tells me that he knew if we were getting council on using it, it had to be because there was a really hot girl on it. so he told me after the talk that nite he looked it up. and it was his perfect girl: dark hair, pionner, loves to snowboard. everything he wants
so i'm talking to him (on im) and he's saying that he webcammed with her that day. and she was so perfect and he was going out to colorado to visit her soon. and i was trying to ya know tell him how this was a really bad idea, don't do it. and he starts yelling at me saying how she told him none of his friends would be happy for him and how none of us were his real friends. blah, blah, and how the elders were so wack and why should they obey their council. made it sound like he was completely talking to an apostate and being won over by her. i get sooooo upset that he's still telling me everythings she's said how i don 't understand and don't care about him, think he's stupid.all this stuff so i cna't take it anymore cuz i get sooo upset and i just sign off the middle of a sentance cuz i don't want to hear it anymore.
i try to sleep but i'm just so mad and frustrated at him that i call him up and start yelling at him. things he said at the end made me wonder if it was really him so i start asking "how could he agree with her? what are you thinking? and this is what comes back at me from the other side of the phone:
YOU GOT PUNKED SSOOOOOO BADD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
i know this is pretty long, and i'm sorry but the basic line is i got worked over sooo bad. it should have been a crank yanker cuz i got punked sooooooo bad. but now it is my duty to pass the punk on.
anyone wanna guess on who it was that did it?
oh me oh me I wanna guess cause he said he was gonna do it to me first..but I get soo mad.
yeah after i got done being embrassed at yelling for him and everythings he's like "yeah i was gonna do it to either you or lynz cuz it could only fool either one of you but its just so much funnier that i did it to you"
ghetto booty supastar??
hahhahaha. no good choice but no.
JWmatch.com is messed up... how can you prove anyone on there is a witness or an elder or pioneer or what not? I wouldnt trust that place....
I don't wanna offend any one,,, but i find jwmatch.com completly disgusting...
yeah i don't like the whole idea. using a computer as a substitute for yourself to find a date is kinda weak. unless you're crippled for life or have real social problems or somethin i can understand.
i dont know.. i kind of find it FREAKIN" hilarious when someone takes your picture and puts it up there stating that you ' love long walks on the beach with a walkman while song number 43 is played '
good times.
well since someone did this to me.. i think i'm gonna have to pass on the torch and do it to... hmm.. dan hill maybe.. haha.. still that profile pic.. i'll send the link when i get around to doing it.
let me see the link..is it the same person who did it to my friend from toms river?
that is disgusting, i didnt even know about this. is it for real? personally, i cant believe that these are actually witnesses. ever think that its an apostate site?
Well..I know some halls have been warned against using sites like this for sure.
yeah we got a local needs talk on it and how the way you find your mate is at the kingdom hall, out in service, quick build and how you don't need to crednetials to walk into the door like you do to be on jwmatch.com
actually...not be argumentative...but to do a quick build, you need to have all your privildeges, a good recommendation from your elders, etc...which are kind of credentials. i'm nit-picking here, i know.
Well..if it's at your own hall you can do it. I helped with mine a little bit (I had to do food cause I was underaged..it was gross)soo..you can meet any new people that come to your hall to help?
shut down hyldon!!!!!!!
I loved the guy who went on and on about how he loves being a witness b/c there are always more goals, more ways to love Jehovah, yada yada...then you see he's 23 and "wants to get baptized this summer."
good thing hes been able to keep up with all his goals..no
and when are YOU getting baptized, bubbles?
WHAT IS UP WITH THIS BUBBLES THING? i don't get it...
im shooting for 22 or 23, you cant rush certain things
I just read this thread, and find it very humorous. There is actually a girl from my hall who put her profile on JW Match, and I find that interesting, because her dad is an elder, and you would think he'd try to be more aware of the goings-on under his roof. Anyways, this site (JW Match, not ezabel) concerns me, and I'm just waiting for a local needs part on it in our hall.
I was telling some of my friends about it. In my area, the friends are unaware of it and were totally appalled by it. It's been around for a couple of years now I think. But I agree with you, it amazes me that some witnesses think this is acceptable-and then they proudly post their success story. It's so dumb it's funny.
It's not that I find it "acceptable" or "unacceptable"...I just think its kind of disturbing that people feel the need to find a significant other online
What I'd like to know is how these people think they could possibly get to know someone well enough online to have any sort of serious relationship with them. Even assuming that both parties are being fully honest (which is an incredibly naive assumption) there's just so much you can't possibly find out about someone online.
You call them on the phone? I donno, I'm not speaking from experience here but they use the online thing just to find someone who they then get to know by other means.
So, my opinion on this matter is that you can only really get to know someone by being around them for a significant amount of time. I just don't think that long-distance relationships work, and if you meet someone on the internet, unless they happen to live near you, I don't see how you could have anything but a long-distance relationship.
our CO has mentioned things about it to the people out here
THere was a talk given in our Distrcit Assembly about internet dating. To me it seems pretty worldly. We logged on to see what it was all about and we could not stop CRACKING up! We found some from our area that had their pics up. But we refrained from mentioning it to them....it might embarrass them.
Wow. You're a lot nicer than I am. If I found out that one of my friends was on jwmatch.com I would have so much fun. :) They would never hear the end of it. :)
Someone I know actually did that. They made up a fake person on that site and put a picture of a biker with no shirt just a vest on and long hair down to his shoulders and then said that he as an elder and pioneer. It was pretty funny.
wait wait... people have actually hooked up over ezabel ?....
well like...yeah
me and that red haired girl
me and mrs. pham
hook ups i'm trying to forget
me and bryan (i count that since he tried to grind on me. i hated every minute of it.)
me and that red-haired girl from all the pictures on ezabel are getting married.
Who has red hair?
i think her name is bonnie. she is NOT the girl wearing the giant spoon.
Dan... for the love of goodness, can you please start picking girls that aren't already married?!?
ok..i have to say this..i got the world's FUNNIEST instant message yesterday
it was from jay 79..i should have saved it... it said
"dan, i know what kind of woman you want, i can walk around and think 'dan would be interested, not that one, not that one, oh this one- dan would be interested...not that one...not that one..."
i was like...yo..this is like a pyramid scheme..i have people working for me...and looking for hot married women...this is more wonderful than the first time i saw mary poppins.
that little girl?
