dream weaver is VERY good... we are using it now to make our web pages in class... and its easy to use... the only thing is, its mad expensive... speaing of which, does any one have a copy i could burn? haha
I have a cracked copy on CD. You can also download it on Limewire.
Oh, and this is the whole suite, Dreamweaver, Flash, Fireworks, Coldfusion, am I missing anything?
problem is, i can't DL any thing to my computer, my dad took my Kazaa away and if he finds out i DLed any thing, he would KILL me haha hes all "i'm not getting sued for ur stupid music!" but my teacher is a retard and the only way to do the work is to have it at home, which is NOT fair cuz its an expensive program and he should give us time in class to do it but hes stupid and i don't like him haha
i will hook you up one of these years when i'm at my comptuer
I don't know much about the website my husband made for us, but he went through a company called Midphase, and that's been working out really well.
Ok, wow this is from a few months ago, but I'm going to answer anyway. :P
It depends on how big of a project you're talking. If it's a simple website with no tables or extravegent designs FrontPage works well. It's very basic for the begginer to figure out easily.
The Macromedia MX 2004 suite is very nice and includes everything you'll need to make just about any type of site. Focus on Flash and you can make the site very pretty and very dynamic. I'm currently working on getting a better understanding of the entire Macromedia suite. Mainly focusing on Flash and Dreamweaver. Finding the time to learn this all is challenging but I know if I get good at it, it can only pay off.

use dreamweaver mx. i've heard good things about it. of course, it's always better to learn html and code it all by hand :)
haha... not if you're designing a huge site. it's so hard to keep track of everything. plus dreamweaver has built in ftp which makes it easier to keep track of your file structure.
That's what I do. ...do it all by hand. I like it best. Notepad rocks! WYSIWYG editors annoy me.
Notepad is evil. Vi rocks!
When you're on a UNIX machine, or shell. Otherwise, gotta do with what you got at that moment. Which, is usually notepad in my case.
ick, I think if I really had to code in VI, I would not be coding at all. So far every job that has had VI I have installed either midnight commander (or other multiline editor) or setup X terminal unbeknownst to the admin to get Nedit at least up.
Actually, it's not even just VI that aggrivates me, it's these wacky terminal protocols no one can agree on.
I use VI for simple things, I haven't figured out how to code with it but I can run simple scripts. But emulation is such a pain with UNIX.
yeah i use VI for small edits, its a quick editor, but even after learning all the short cut keys that make me feel like im stitching an oriental rug I can't stand it for bigger projects, plus no syntax highlighting....
And yeah term emulation, what the heck, all this software we wrote uses IBM3151, an ancient emu protocol, so of course finding a really decent soft terminal that supports it is impossible
yup notepad rocks
they all do different stuff... i've read the review on macromedia MX and heard all around its the best for creating a website from the ground up. however it contains several different programs including dreamweaver, flash, and fireworks
