Fact of the Day

skaorsk8 by skaorsk8 · Jul 9, 2003 · 297 views · · · Trivia

here we go....

Think about the publications that you see the most. Take, for example, Reader's Digest and National Geographic. Millions of old people, world wide, love Reader's Digest. You know how many languages it's translated in to? 19. 19! And it is available in 60 countries.

Now...the Watchtower. 147 languages!!! You know, in some places in Africa, where they have only a spoken language for some tribes, the society has brought in experts and actually CREATED a written language to go with the spoken words. Then they teach the people how to read and write IN THEIR OWN LANGUAGE. Wow.

Ok, that's the fact of the day. I know it was a little long.

that really is amazing.

I bet when they create a written language for these tribes, it looks like just English.

ophelia opheliaOG 2003 ·

Right, cause otherwise they'd have to create a whole new set of characters for the language..it's most definately english-letter based...the society rocks...
