Small Grievence

tesoro by tesoro · Sep 5, 2003 · 379 views · Journal

so, tonight i'm going to the dashboard show with about 30 friends from Long Island @ Roseland...i have a small problem with this..i KNOW that it sounds really lame or whatever..but probably only about 10 of those people are really going to SEE dashboard..the rest are just going cuz it's a social event and dont even care about the music. i mean, i'm friends w/ mostly everyone going..but STILL, the show is sold out and people who would absolutely LOVE to see him and belt their hearts out wont be able to. am i being anal or is this legit?

yo. i want to see him and sing. i don't know why we have to wait like 40 hours to see him, though. because my friends want to meet at 5:30...the doors open at 6:45...first band, 7, next, 7:45, next, 8:30, next, 9...dashboard comes on at 9:45?? WHAA? ok so 5 hours later i get to see the guy i paid $25 for...craziness. all that pot smoke in roseland, i hate it...i saw goldfinger there when i was 16...crazy back then, too. I don't love the new album. the best deceptions makes me sad.

skaorsk8 #2 skaorsk8OG 2002

ok i seemed to ramble and get off topic there, on my last post. instead, you are right, many people are going JUST to hang out. seriously, the people i'm riding with want to bail before he comes on to go to a party..unless...and this is a direct quote ... "it's a good group of witnesses at the concert". i love my boys and all but i wanna stay to see dashboard...the last show i saw him at (skate and surf), i showed up just as he got on, and left when he got off. it was perfect. no time shoved up against sweaty people listening to music that i don't care about. the best deceptions still makes me sad. i hope i'm never in a position like him, when that happened.

thatdarngirl #3 thatdarngirlOG 2002

Aww that's sad cause I know my little sister wanted to go see him and she didn't get tickets because it was sold out..all because of your mean friends!! naw..she actually just waited too long. See, if your friends were just going for live music not even caring about dashboard..but just because they want to hang out and they're willing to spend $25 and maybe not even stay the whole time? That's dumb.

jamiephaser #4 jamiephaserOG 2003

lol worries worries

skaorsk8 #4.1 skaorsk8OG 2002

HEY! jamie spelled something right!

fivezero #5 fivezeroOG 2003

it's not something to worry about. if you're such a fan that you're worried about the placement of each individual ticket, the ticket holders "right" to said ticket, or how much you think they deserve it, or you want to question the persons motivation for going, proclaiming they aren't going to appreciate the show like a true fan would...i say all that's fubar. goldfinger put it best, herbs: "really, it's just music after all."

tesoro #5.1 tesoroOG 2001

haha, fubar..yea, i guess your right, that why i'm just SLIGHLY peeved, not raging.

fivezero #5.1.1 fivezeroOG 2003

haha, fubar, baby. but i know where you're coming from. i was at a radiohead show recently and this chick was all crashed out sleeping! SLEEPING! it took all my self control not to nudge her and tell her to wake the fark up. you just want everyone to enjoy it as much as you. and you feel bad that they are there and that some other person who'd totally appreciate being there is at home, moping. but thats part of being emo, folks. not being able to go...

ilikebirds #5.1.1.1 ilikebirdsOG 2002

guy it's just music.

fivezero fivezeroOG 2003

i agree. i just wanted to sympathize because i feel i've been being extra harsh on all these poor sucker dashboard kids. it IS just music.

thefunkyfresh #6 thefunkyfreshFounder

get over it!

tesoro #6.1 tesoroOG 2001

i'm sorry, that was not the correct menu option...press 0 to speak to a representative.

thefunkyfresh #6.1.1 thefunkyfreshFounder

i would never go to a show just to hang out, i just dont see the point. but i dont see why you're mad about it, they're the ones paying money to go see a show they don't care about. the artist is making money, so they're the big losers.

tesoro #6.1.1.1 tesoroOG 2001

lol, i'm not an angry wench, who's gonna yell at everyone who's not singing along..i was just saying that they were taking the opportunity away from TRUE fans to go. THATS all, they can do what they want, i just think its lame.

iwz #7 iwz

oh man, i wish i could go to this show. :(

magnum #8 magnumOG 2001

how can u goto a show to socialize, its not like you can really hear that well and have a in depth conversation with someone besides "hello". If i am going to go to the city for a show im sure as heck not going there to try to make believe its a party and socialize. Im there to go see a band i like. blah blah blah BLAHOEY

reaf #9 reafOG 2002

you people get so over worked! It's a show & dashboard is a little girl band anyway. ha ha.
Who cares who goes & who cares if the "true fans" were to slow to get tickets, be quicker, or learn to scalp them!

web-toedchloe #10 web-toedchloeOG 2001

Just think about us and saves the day and taking back sunday in 2 weeks. That show will be great and we all love the bands. That makes up for it. :) I'm so excited!

tesoro #10.1 tesoroOG 2001

yeaaaaaaaa! :) i'm excited...two other people from LI are coming too i think...vanessa cowie and john candito.

starshiptrooper #10.1.1 starshiptrooperOG 2003

does Vanessa have a brother named Rich?????
thats my daughters Rachels friend!!!!!!!!!!!
oh sorry, on topic , Rachel saw them (dashboard conf.) Thurs nite with her friend Kelly in Nyc.

tinser #10.1.1.1 tinserOG 2002

yeah, she does...she has two brothers, rich and mike...they are twins...rachel who?

starshiptrooper starshiptrooperOG 2003

Racehl who? ask HIM. who are YOU?

tesoro #10.1.1.2 tesoroOG 2001

yea, i met kelly like two weeks ago...she's friends w/ marissa.

skaorsk8 skaorsk8OG 2002

ahhhhh marissa...i remember her...

starshiptrooper starshiptrooperOG 2003

so is Rachel. Marissa seems like a nice kid.

hunkpapap #11 hunkpapapOG 2003

my theory is that if you don't love and artist or at least know 3 or 4 songs to sing along to, you SHOULD NOT go to a concert. I just want to sing to good music when i go. I do not want to be talked to during a song. I don't want you to talk to someone else while i'm singing. I think theremin will agree that mike doughty had the best game to play....

fivezero #11.1 fivezeroOG 2003

i don't know if you're just being...passionate or whatever. but you are dead wrong! i love going to shows and seeing new bands. take in songs for the first time. i find that to be one of the most FUN things to experience. especially if you end up loving the band. THAT'S good stuff. but if you're just referring to people who go to shows and just talk and carry and not even pay A LITTLE bit of attention--then, nah, thats not cool.

skaorsk8 #12 skaorsk8OG 2002

ok...so i went to this show. here's my thoughts.

Chris Carabba is the WORST performer EVER. He does not get the crowd excited. He does not even sing. He does not need to. His songs are so good, that he can just step away from the mike, not even play, and everyone will get excited.

When i saw him at Skate and Surf...he was jumping into the crowd...being nuts...here...he was not really caring. He makes $$ either way. Lame.

tesoro #12.1 tesoroOG 2001

yea, it was a good show, but not a great performance..at knitting factory it was TOTALLY differnt, cuz it was so small the whole audience would be talkin to him and he could actually answer questions and stuff..it was unlike any other show. i still loved last night though.

seit2see #12.1.1 seit2seeOG 2002

ohh please! i saw him before any of you ever even heard of dashboard... and he sucked back then too hahaha

ilikebirds #12.1.1.1 ilikebirdsOG 2002

me and him used to play 'truckers' in the sand box.. and he sucked at that too.

tesoro #12.1.1.2 tesoroOG 2001

so then why would you go to see him? social event? haha

seit2see seit2seeOG 2002

i went to see movielife and nfg 3 years ago or so and he opened up and i was like "this is so terrible... i hope this is the last song"

skaorsk8 skaorsk8OG 2002

was that before or after he started crying about the chick that didn't tell him that she's dumped his sorry butt?

tesoro tesoroOG 2001

"you shouldnt have stayed and watched so we didnt have to listen to complaints" hahaha

prozacchick prozacchickOG 2002

well i think u should all just shut up! : P (JAHANNA)

Dashboard is meant for memories....

that is why i love them

tesoro tesoroOG 2001

ALL, namely...me.. ;)

yea, dashboard definatly has a lot of memory associations....
hmm, i think i want to write another journal. (heh heh)

tesoro #13 tesoroOG 2001

also i'd like to say..best songs of the night...
brand new-jude law and a semester abroad...and
dashboard-rapid hope loss; so impossible; and they did a wheatus cover-teenage dirtbag...i LOVED that!

tinser #14 tinserOG 2002

i have a small grievance too. You spelled GRIEVANCE wrong!! (p.s: you know i love you though :) )

ophelia #15 opheliaOG 2003

nothing against dashboard..but..what would make this concert enjoyable for me..is if midway through, all the musicians subtly dissapeared(w/the exception of the singer)..and a further seems forever show broke out.THAT would be cool

tesoro #15.1 tesoroOG 2001

it was funny...during the show there was this guy behind me who kept yelling, FURTHER SEEMS FOREVER! really loud...so i told him to shut up or die! then later i found out he was with our group. haha...i guess its okay cuz he thought it was pretty funny..he was just there for MXPX.
