by so, i just started working for UPS. which almost didn't happen because i was playing major phone tag with this one dude while i was on vacation. for a while i thought it wasn't going to work out and i was sad. in the end i got ahold of the dude i was supposed to get ahold of and i'm in! i'm QUITE excited. the pay is good, the benefits are boss (and just in time because i go off my mother's insurance end of december) and the union is strong. another cool thing is that it's pretty physical, it won't be very hard to GET in shape (notice the emphasis on 'get in shape', it's something i need do). i also like the fact that there isn't someone bugging you constantly. as long as you do you're assigned work correctly and in a timely manner--there won't be any problems. call me crazy, but i loved working in the cold today, i felt so refreshed by it. UPS jackets are SO warm. exciting times for me! cheers!

dude, UPS guys are diesel. i'm not diesel yet, but when i am--WATCH OUT! seriously tho, we get no breakfast and an unpaid lunch hour. the jackets are warm, thank goodness. and theres only two guys to a truck during the holiday season because the volume doubles. dork.

lat nite in the restaurant i work at i was bringing up this large company chrismas party's coats and a man gave me $13!!!! $13 for three coats. some people gave me 50 cents and this man gives me $13. i was shocked...but then again, it is only the beginning of december. i cannot wait until i'm working chrismas eve.
yeah also the letter carrier, Nick got $2000 last year, and theres a route in Baldwin , the carrier got over $4k.
I toyed around w/the idea of working for UPS.....what kinda work are you doing w/them, truck driving?..(I hope you didn't already answer that question in the journal, I don't think I read the whole thing, haha)
nope. i'm not driving. but until january i ride shotgun and help the driver. then i go to loading and sorting and being the occasional assistant. after i do that the next step is driving part time, theeennnn after i prove myself, i can drive full time. i'm not too worried tho. the pay rawks and full benefits still apply even for part-timers. and if ya stick with this job it could work very well for you--LIFE-WISE.
what are your hours?
my hours are odd because i'm helping a driver during his route. on top of it his route is odd, he does residental, business, picks ups and a UPS store stop. i meet him in after he eats lunch and stay on til he's done with everything, around seven or eight at night. the normal hours are like seven am until your truck is empty! if you're loading and sorting, it'll either be an early morning or a late night shift, at the warehouse.
oh man!!! so my car is like an exact carbon copy of the UPS trucks (no power steering, huge wheel, stick shift all that good stuff) so i was talking to an adult about plans for the future and he told me that i should get a job at UPS because of these reasons.

when i wrote that i couldn't remember who i had this converstaion with so i couldn't cateogorize it. but now i remember it was a visiting elder to our hall.
I love UPS and Fedex but I think I love UPS more. The UPS guys are always friendly and cheery and even funny sometimes. I am just absolutely AMAZED at the ability to send something out at 8 pm at night and it will get to its destination at 8 in the morning. I know it's not that amazing, it's trains, planes and automobiles that get it there but still, it's amazing to me. I HEART UPS!!
