On Why I Hate..me?
I can't sleep. Well, I can but it's not feel-good-in-the-morning sleep. It's more of a wake up constantly throughout the night sleep. And when I say constantly, I don't mean once or twice I mean five, six, eight times. It's really messing me up, especially since it's been going on for over a month now. I don't know what I'm doing wrong. Since it was taking me so long to fall asleep (like, 2 or 3 hours) I now don't go upstairs to my bed until I am ready to fall over. It's making me very grouchy and disagreeable during the day..and this morning I was so tired and confused that when I went to pour cereal I almost put water in it. As it is, I stared at the water for a while trying to determine what it was and why I didn't want it in my cereal. This no-sleep thing has also been increasing my headaches. It got so bad yesterday that my vision was going up and down, and by that I mean that things that weren't moving were. Any suggestions on how to sleep better besides taking medication for it?

Do you like natural/herbal remedies? Valerian Root supposedly works really well. ... or a glass of warm milk... more calcium in your diet... somethin like that.
Yeah I don't mind the herbal stuff, I just can't get addicted to Nyquil again because that was bad.

i know i haven't been sleeping well lately because my room is freezing! i keep waking up because my covers keep falling off and i'm too cold to sleep. i need to get a space heater
Hmmm, how about up-ing your dosage of calcium/magnesium that's a natural relaxer, usually helps for me or read you WT or awake or some other sort of bible lit, thats always relaxing and a great way to end the day
So funny cause it almost sounds like "yeah, read bible literature and it'll put you right to sleep!" I actually do read my bible reading before I go to sleep.
Also, I have recently been getting a lot more calcium then I used too. I don't drink milk but Ive started drinking a lot of orange juice with calcium in it.
I re-read it and it did seem like i meant it put you to sleep. LOL Hmm...well if you take orange juice the natural sugar will keep you awake. Take the herbs of calcium magnesium. If not I have a friend that will bore you to sleep, I'll give you her #....LOL

coral calcium is good. you need to take it a little before you go to bed though otherwise you may get tired when you don't want to. it helps me a lot
one more thing, 5-HTP, that has a calming ingredient - tryoptophan - that'll help and it's herbs. Google 5-htp and it'll give you the low down =)
i thought orange juice gave you vitamin c, not calcium. i drink tons of orange juice and i thought i was gettin vitamin c.

Yea i dont sleep well either... i see it as my body saying " hey guy guy it's only 12am.. get your butt up and do something.. " so.. thats what you do. get up and do something until your tired. you're young. sleep is for quitters. it's like " look at me look at me i'm awake, alive.. having a good times.. but i want to quit this.. and sleep "... soo dont sleep

It can be expensive stuff. Just visit your local heath food store and pick up a bottle w/ that type of top that can administer droplets.
ps: Please stop using that Ny-quil. Continued use is totally unhealty. It's like doing asprin theraphy with Tylenol, not good at all...
Yeah..I haven't used Nyquil in a while, unless I get really sick. It took me a long time to go back to sleeping normal the last time I got hooked to it.
i use nature's sunshine, they have one with Hops, Valarian Root, and Skullcap.

i've been on sleeping pills for most of my life... i started taking them at age 12 but now i can't sleep without them which is pretty bad.. but before my doctor put me on them, i tried a buncha stuff... try buying one of those noise machines (unless you are a person who needs complete quiet), or buy a sleeping mask thing (unless you like light), also try NOT going to lay down unless you feel tired, cuz if ur just laying there awake, it gets worse, uh... u could try reading a boring book... that usually put me to sleep...

not really, i don't usually sleep durning the day either... i just don't need that much sleep i think... i have better things to do with my time then sleep haha
yeah, this is gonna sound stupid but i really wish there was just a pill we could take that would be enough to "energize" and renew our bodies. I wish we didn't have to sleep. It's SUCH a waste of perfectly good hours of life!!!!! Seriusly. And also eating, i wish there was an option for like getting an injection or a pill and be full. Eating is soooo time consuming and expensive.
However, I love sleeping and eating.. haha

I can't sleep unless I have the fan blasting and my room is really cold. During the winter my mom and dad insist that I have the door closed since they don't want me cooling off the rest of the house.
I totally need my room to be freezing to go to sleep too, it helps me breathe better.
Exactly! Of course, I end up having to have, like, four blankets on me so that I don't freeze to death, but it's definitely easier to breathe the cold air.

Listen to kenny g..His music is SOO insanely sleep inducing, it's like a sonic-sleeping pill, seriously....& every song sounds exacly the same...if that don't work..I'll let u borrow my fountain, it's really cool, it has a green orb in the middle of it that floats on these jets of water that make it spin - & it has these pretty marble rocks on it..it'll bring the sounds of nature into your room, it sounds like a mini waterfall..that, along w/kenny's elevator music, should put u to sleep in no time

Problem is I can't have music or noise other then my air condition or air cleaner in the room. It bothers me. I'm a very picky sleeper.
Someone told me that you're not supposed to use your computer before bedtime cuz the light messes up the chemicals in your brain that let you get sleepy... I know it hasta be more technical of an explanation than that, but in plain terms, there it is....

Yeah..I'm not too sure about that one. Ever since we got the internet I've used it before I went to sleep (originally because my older sister would play computer commando at all earlier times).
I suggest exersizing or moving a lot before sleeping. Then you'll be exhusted and want to sleep. XD I had the same problem, actually. I have to take 50 MGs Diphenhydramine and that just makes me dizzy. Moving a lot helps a lot though. It's always best to go all natural =)
