Staring

I've been going over in my head now, an interesting situation I was allowed to experience a few weeks back. I, along with Legs (I doubt I'll ever call you Amanda again) went with Julie and Vanessa to school. Now, Vanessa had warned me that her school was 'prep' (for those in high school, this expression needs no explanation..and for those out..it's kind of used like abercrombie and fitch teenie boppers, but it's not always used in the negative.) Well, I really didn't understand how 'prep' her school was until I arrived there. I also must mention that to get a reaction from people at her school I dressed a bit extreme perhaps, in some people's opinions (fishnets, combat boots, plaid skirt, and a t-shirt). Never before in my life have I gotten dirtier, stranger stares and looks before. For once I felt what it's really like to be a complete outcast,seperated from anyone else like you. I felt completly trapped in a twilight zone episode where everyone and anyone acted the same and wore the same clothing, and of course, shared the same opinions on everything. Not only was I stared at, but I was also treated in a negative way by most of the teachers (and one always does hope that while kids may not be tolerant, adults are wise enough to be..this is often found not true). I applaude kids that every day get the cold stares and odd looks that ask them 'why are you dressed that way' or 'what's wrong with you?'. It's more like what's wrong with you, didn't your mother teach you that it isn't polite to stare? (If I offended anyone with my use of the term 'prep' I am sorry)
