Chubb VS Pioneer School

rocksupastar by rocksupastar · May 2, 2002 · 391 views · Journal

Well...here's the deal. I FINALLY made the decision on what i am going to be doing for school. I applied for Chubb Institute, passed the test and im going for Tech Support. Hopefully that will get me into Network Admin stuff along with giving me a basic understanding of cicso and setting up LAN's and things like that. Buuuut, heres the problem, my opening classes start 2 days before my pioneer school END... So you see my problem. I have gotten opinions from both sides of the spectrum, as to which i should miss, a day or BOTH days of chubb, or a day or BOTH days of pioneer school, now if it was YOU what would YOU do? Has anyone been to chubb, where the first few days of chubb THAT important??

Go to pioneer school. God shall handle the rest. Put faith where it will do you the best.

punkprincess #2 punkprincessOG 2001

Definetly go to pioneer school. when are you EVER going to get a chance to go again?

rocksupastar #2.1 rocksupastarFounder

just for sake of arguement, thats true, but when am i gonna go to chubb again?

magnum #2.1.1 magnumOG 2001

screw chubb goto pioneer school, if they got a problem i will go down there and lay the smack down oke?

web-toedchloe #3 web-toedchloeOG 2001

Don't consider Chubb as anything else than school-that's what it is. Would you skip a day of pioneer school to go to high school? There's nothing you can't make up at Chubb, but the information and the feeling you get at pioneer school are once-in-a-lifetime. Take it from me-I skipped a day of pioneer school to help my twin brother Anthony move away to college. Do I regret it? No. I know I honesetly believed I was making the right decision at the time. I felt like if I didn't see Anthony off I'd never see him again. But now, looking back, I realize that that whole day wasn't really that important. Sometimes events seem crucial when they're occuring, but you have to step away and look at the overall picture. My conclusion: Pioneer school was more important that my brother. You need to make your own conclusion. I have complete confidence that you'll make the decision that's best for you. :)

nicely put. im impressed.

katiedid #3.2 katiedidFounder

It's a hard choice to make. if you missed your brother's move, you werent gonna be spending the next few weeks-months totally confused, trying to catch up from that day; your career wasnt depending on the success of your brother's move.

magnum #3.2.1 magnumOG 2001

First week or so is usuall bs, you't dont learn anything and if they do teach somethin and you can't catch up with it you don't belong in the computer field. IQ above 10 is required folks, mike isn't yours a 9.5? :)

katiedid #3.2.1.1 katiedidFounder

that's what i thought, too. but his boss (who went there) told him that he's crazy for thinking of missing a day, but if he had to miss anything, it should be the actual classes later on, and not orientation.

web-toedchloe web-toedchloeOG 2001

But different people have different opinions about what's crucial - that was my point. Like you won't miss a class for a show, remember? Someone else might without hesitation.

katiedid katiedidFounder

very true, good point. I am pretty crazy about that stuff. (ex. I'm gonna miss the CO on the 14th cause I have my final)

katiedid #3.2.2 katiedidFounder

not that im saying a career is more important than serving Jehovah - I'm not. I just want whatever is best for you, mike. What would make you happy?

magnum #3.2.2.1 magnumOG 2001

YOU PAGAN! TSK TSK TSK!

ilikebirds #3.2.2.2 ilikebirdsOG 2002

did anyone pay attention to my first comment.. geez.. Put Jehovah first and all other things will be added to you . Go to pioneer school bucko.

katiedid katiedidFounder

no one listens to you, ty!

ilikebirds ilikebirdsOG 2002

yea and everyone wonders why this world is so messed up... LISTEN TO ME I KNOW ALL

thefunkyfresh #4 thefunkyfreshFounder

i think i agree with everything that's been said. go to pioneer school, you won't be able to go to that again, you can make up the stuff you miss at chubb, chances are the first 2 days wont be anything really important anyway. Just get in contact with your teachers and explain to them that you have something that you cannot miss that will keep you from the first 2 days of classes. or you can lie. say you got turned into a newt.

rocksupastar #4.1 rocksupastarFounder

thats true.. no.. i agree with everything that everyone has been saying.. ive never been to school before.. and im just afraid of messing up and being too far behind in chubb, but then again, i dont wanna miss any pioneer school at all.. i was thinking maybe contacting the teachers and seeing if i can meet with them so they can give me orientation then and my laptop and whatnot at that time. Maybe i can set that up a few days before i leave for pioneer school? whatcha think?

thefunkyfresh #4.1.1 thefunkyfreshFounder

contact them as soon as you can, if you email them a few months in advance they will take alot more serious than if you call the day before classes start.

you get a laptop!??

rocksupastar #4.1.1.1 rocksupastarFounder

oh yea dude... you get ur own laptop and EVERYTHING!!!!!

raerae #4.1.2 raeraeFounder

Whenever i miss school i always freak out like a nitwit and have a nervous breakdown because i feel like i will never catch up and i start thinking i'm gonna fail everything. but in reality, everything is back to normal in a week or so and i freaked out for nothing.

IT's like your first day of school- every year, you feel like you will never get used to the new schedule and you're so confused, but then you feel totally comfortable in about a week. Actually that didn't relate at all but neither does mike. HAHAHA just kidding bud. GO TO PIONEER SCHOOL!!!!!!

deanh77 #4.2 deanh77Founder

and when they look at you funny, state with conviction and a british accent: "I got better!"

highschool #5 highschoolOG 2002

games are so much fun don't you think

rocksupastar #5.1 rocksupastarFounder

Well... if all that was riding on this was just me and my life... i would go to pioneer school, but thats not the case, i have alot more to worry about. And, you obviously didnt read the story completly, i AM going to pioneer school, IF, and i say IF, i was going to miss ANYTHING from pioneer school, it would be part of ONE day. And everyone that i have talked to has had no trouble FINDING a job outta chubb, its the getting through chubb is the problem they seem to have.

katiedid #5.1.1 katiedidFounder

I'm sorry mike. I'm sorry I made things more complicated.

tesoro #5.2 tesoroOG 2001

that was kinda harsh dude, try ENCOURAGING...not slamming! geez!

delliott101 #5.3 delliott101OG 2002

Been perusing the site and stumbled on your comment... you are so right... there is nothing to compare to pioneer school! I went this past Aug/Sept and I don't know how I got this far in the truth without pioneer school. If you or anyone else can make room to pioneer, even if just for a year, DO IT... if only to get to the school!!!!

C

Mike you deffinitly should go to pioneer shool. like ty said, put jehovah first and the rest will be added to you. If you have the opportunity go now!

Although people are giving you all this advice, mike, it is ultimately your decision. Whatever you decide to do will obviously be after a lot of thinking and heartfelt prayer - so we have no place to criticise whatever you decide. Just remember to "throw ALL your burdens" on Jehovah. He is there to help you so let him.

ilikebirds #7.1 ilikebirdsOG 2002

so wrong ! it's not his decision. it's ultimately my decision. and i say " PIONEER SCHOOL "

punkprincess #7.1.1 punkprincessOG 2001
