Munchkin Wars: The Odyssey

Eko tried to divert his eyes away from the sun as he trained his eyes across the dry desert plateau upon the white bird that fluttered around in the sky. When he had first seen this birds, it had drawn him toward it, inticed him to chase it down. This would be a good meal, Eko thought. He trained his arrow on the bird. Just as he was about to shot, though, the bird ducked down toward the earth out of sight.

So Eko ran all the way over to the place where the bird had fallen. By the time he got there, he was completely out of breath. The sun poured down upon him fiercly. Suddenly he heard the trickle of water and ran forward toward the sound. Suddenly, a glistening clear stream seemed to appear out of nowhere. he kneeled down to the water, and was about to take a drink when he noticed the bird standing on the other side of the water. As he poised his arrow for the kill, the bird suddenly began to change. It grew taller and it's white feathers formed into a sparkling white dress. The bird took on the form of a beautiful woman. Eko stood up and gasped, staring into her eyes. But before he could speak to her, she plunged into the small stream. The water seemed to absorb her body, and she disappeared. On impulse, Eko jumped in after, and the water began to turn to darkness.

Eko awoke and found himself staring up at the sun. Slowly the sun was eclipsed by a dark shape, a face.Eko jumped up to his feet and found that he was staring face to face (well not exactly) with a 3 foot tall green...thing. "Ahhh!" Eko exclaimed, "it's some kind of gnome!"

"Gnome?!?" the creature reponded in a squeaky childlike voice. "I'm no gnome! I'm a munchkin, and you're under arrest! I should take you to the Munchkin Queen herself! Now come on!" The munchkin pointed a small handheld object at Eko.

"What is that? Some munchkin weapon?"

"It's a light-gun, buddy. And if you don't come along with me, you'll be gettin' the bussiness end of it."

Eko laughed down at the creature. "You're actually Serious?" The munchkin frowned his beady eyes at his comment.He raised his light gun up to Eko's face and was about to fire when he heard the cry.

"Stop!" Both Eko and the munchkin looked toward the cry to see the bird woman propelled herself through the sky with the wing that sprouted from her back. She waved her hands in front of her and created a white light that struck the munchkin.

"OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOHHHHHHH!!!!" the munchkin cried, dropped his light gun and ran away. The Bird Woman flew down to Eko.

"Thanks a lot!, you saved me, I think. Who are you?"

"I am Jahanna, the bird woman. I live on that distant mountain in a beautiful garden." She pointed to a tall distant peak beyond the desert and forest around them.

"Wow, i'd love to see such a place!" Eko exclaimed.

"I'm afraid," she responded, "that such a thing would not be possible." I live with my demanding master, Ty, lord of the bird people. He would not approve." With that, Jahanna spread her wings, ready to fly.

"Wait," Eko stopped her. "Can you tell me where I am?" She looked plainly at him.

"In a whole other world, stranger." With that, she flew off into the blue sky. Eko looked around him. But before he could take it all in, he heard a piercing cry from the forest beyond.

"Help!" came what sounded like an old man's voice, "Hurry!" Eko began to run toward the cry for help, not knowing the trouble he was about to get himself into.
