Getting used to the word "fiancé"
A friend told me that the weirdest part about getting engaged is getting used to calling your girlfriend your fiancé. I guess I'd have to partly agree. It is hard to get used to, but I think the weirdest part has something to do with the fact that I actually had the guts to finally ask her. I'm one of those guys with a fear of commitment. So, it took me a decent amount of time to actually make up my mind that I was ready to pop the question.
The thing is, I've known from like almost day one that I would marry Mikayla. It's just that the further I get into a relationship, the more I realize how serious I am about it, and about how it will affect my life. And then I start getting scared.
Plus, I have another problem, which is over-analyzing everything. Like, say I want to go out and buy a new stereo. I can't just go to The Wiz and listen to a few and buy one. I could never do that. I have to go out and find out which ones have gotten good ratings, and read all the user reviews. I have to research everything about all of them, and compare them to my little laundry list of requirements: it has to have a 3-5 disc changer, it has to have an auxiliary input, it has to have a sleep/alarm clock on it. Then I have to compare prices, and then check availability at my favorite on-line retailers..... you get the picture.
Mikayla passed all my tests. She has everything I want, and more. She's my perfect companion, and she brings out the best in me. She's strongly grounded and has a great love for Jehovah. She has energy, she is a hard worker, she sticks to her beliefs and values and is just oh-so-stubborn enough as to not be a softie or a hard-head. She loves animals. She's willing to try new things (like hamburgers or swordfish). She loves to have fun, and she loves to shop. She likes to dress up. She loves to clean! She worries too much. But, I need that, because I'm the most blasé (definition #2 applies perfectly) person around. She's beautiful in so many ways. And, hey, she actually won my mom's affection too, and that's saying a lot. Haha.
So, I really have to say that I think I just made the best decision in my life in asking Mikayla to marry me. It gets me excited thinking about starting a family with her. Good times are sure to come. And since Mikayla and I have already proven to each other that we do great through the bad times, the bad times to come are sure to be surmountable.
Thank you, Mikayla, for wanting to be my fiancé! I love you for it!
And in case you haven't figured it out yet: Yes! I'm engaged!

Awww! I know you guys will have a happy and long life together. Congratulations!!
I'm so happy for you ian, and it's so funny that you mention your rigorous testing, and your insistance on getting the best of the best. because it's so true, if i want to find out if something new that i've heard of is good or not, i'll ask you. and you will not only find the best reviews out there on that particular subject, but reviews on a plethora of alternatives. I know you guys are gonna be really happy. It is really amazing that mikayla won your mom over, your mom is so scary sometimes...like a mob queen or something. also if you think that getting used to saying "...my fiancee" is weird, just wait till you start saying "my wife". well, maybe it won't be so bad, remember that seinfeld where jerry pretends to get married to courtney cox? and he can't get over how much he loves saying "my wife"?? "My WIFE has an inner ear infection.....I LIKE THAT!!!" I just hope that's not the only reason you decided to get married though, because I hope you never say jerry's words: "I just couldn't handle the responsibiliy of a pretend marriage." Well i know you guys are gonna have a great future!! congratulations :)
OK. We all new the real reason you got engaged. It isn't just because Mikayla's a great girl, and that she's perfect for you, and your going to be all happy together and stuff. You did your research and you found that your missing out on doing all these great married couple things with Adam and Jalynn. And your were thinking, "how can I get involved in all this fun?" It's easy just get engaged!
Ian, I love you so much. Thank you for all the great things you said about me, I just hope you know that I feel the same way about you. Thank you for asking me to marry you, it was about time, hahahhahahahahaha. You also passed all my tests, and I love the fact that I am marrying my best friend. SO thank you Ian for wanting to marry me : ) Love you, Mikayla
This is so adorable, I can't even stand it :) After an article like that, who wouldn't want to marry Ian? hahahaha

So you have plans to make, including picking your groom-party. I was just thinking......were you planning on picking brandon as your best man, or your computer? OH, or is your laptop really been a better friend than your home computer. Your tower definately has better sound and graphics, though. I don't know.....brandon doesn't really do anything fancy like either of those computers. Ohh, and if you go with computers....how will you dress them? Will you have to get like black cases, and white bowties? Will you make your whole groom party main, ian, server, laptop, palmpilot (ring bearer). Mikayla's bridal party will have to carry those suckers down the aisle. oh, all the computers could be running some phat screen savers, or benchmark utilities, or something.....
i love how there are now 10 comments to this story, yet no comments to other people's remarks....interesting

Well, that was the most touching thing I've heard you say, Ian. How charming you are! I think you broke a couple of hearts today. You said such nice things, except for the part about your mother. Which reminds me- that FunkyFresh kid better watch out, cause I know who he is!
