Halle Berry Wins Award!
Ok, so for those of you who don't watch TV, Halle Berry won the Oscar for best Actress the other night...I have no problems with that. She's beautiful, an excellent actress, has a lot of style, and a great haircut. Her acceptance speech PISSED me off, though.
In effect, she said that she was accepting this award for all the hard-working, black actresses in Hollywood, known or unknown. She felt that she was now "opening doors" for other black women in Hollywood to win awards. Now, hold on ONE second. Halle Berry is NOT black! Right before she got on stage, they showed her hugging her WHITE mother! (Halle is half-black.) And, she is by NO means the first black person to win an Oscar- Sidney Portier won an Oscar for Best Actor nearly 30 years ago- and Whoopi Goldberg won Best Supporting Actress back in the in 90's.
SO- now that a black woman finally wins Best Actress, should we all say "Wow, well NOW America is finally equal for everyone"? That's not right at all...I don't want to sound political or anything, but some stuff she just gets me riled up. The only thing she did this past year was work HARDER than anyone else at being an Actress. Her being black had NOTHING to do with it. The fact that she is talented, beatiful, and worked at being the best in EXCELLENT movies is what mattered the most.

I was trhe first black oscar to win an actor
I was annoyed when she cried about it.,.,I think it would of been better if Nicole Kidman would of won...Then i wouldn't have to see Halle's speech/crying over and over and over again.
What is she wearing in that pic??
nothing. that's just a full body tattoo
hmmm, impressive...
remember when that one model had her bathing suit painted on? It looked like a real bathing suit too....out of control!
Yeah, but you couldnt tell...
no way!! link please.
ewwww dirty dirty little boy!
I didn't see it, but I agree with your comments. She's actually a very stuck up, proud person. She thinks alot of herself, and this fits her character perfectly. She needs a lesson on humility.
I actually could care less... who cares about the grammys... tehy sucks, hollywood sucks, movies suck... actually.. cept for jackie chan, i would watch them if they gave jackie chan an award.... otherwise they all suck... and besides, the movie that she won for was a terrible movie...
wait...do u think they suck?
nah, its ok... hahahhaha
Actors really are the stupidest people in the world. They make such a big deal out of pretending to be something.
:::hides SAG card, quickly back into wallet:::
i think actors are good because they tell a story but just all the coverage they get for just living their life is very annoying. i was also bugged about how she said for black women everywhere and yet she herself never went through many of the struggles others did because she is half white. although i will admit when i saw she won, i did cry for her.
yea i can care less.... who watches the oscars? like i care who wins awards... when there's a real life celebrite deathmatch.. give me a call
I watched it because someone told me some actress(they didn't know who) was gonna be wearing a dress made of all diamonds! wow, a dress with nothing but diamonds...how wonderful...i just HAD to see it. boy am i Gullable!!!!
yeah...i saw that dress on a news program the day before. but they couldn't say who was wearing. then i watch the whole program, and no dress!
does anyone know who wore that dress?
you're totally right about the speech. i didn't get her whole 'doors are now opened' point. i mean, she did a really good acting job, and she got the aware...great! and you're right about whoopi goldberg; she won for "ghost". but are supposed to believe that since whoopi won for best supporting actress, and no black woman since then has won for best actress, that some 'door' had been closed? i think that's ridiculous.
well, there's always NEXT year...
