by It seems that old pay phones are becoming collectors items how funny is that. In the age of cell phones, pay phones are becomeing obsolete. They are becoming a novelty item, as it seems people are modifying old pay phones so they can be used in homes.
The total number of pay phones nationwide has dropped 29.5% in the last five years, including a 32.9% drop in pay phones operated by local phone companies, according to the Federal Communications Commission. Some companies that used to make them have stopped.
Here's a quote from someone who bought one of the modified ones: "My grandchildren and great-grandchildren won't know what it is," said Bill Ray, who bought one of the pay phones and keeps it atop a filing cabinet in his Memphis, Tennessee, BellSouth office. "I thought I'd get it for the nostalgia, and it will be a conversation piece for years to come."

yeah but it's good in case of emergency like when you broke down after the parkway tolls at 4am and had to walk home. when i lived at home i just kept my cell off so they couldn't bother me but at least i had it for an emergency. stop being stubborn
What that wasn't a big deal. It was only 2:30am and I only had to walk 3 miles home in 20 degree weather.
you have to get one. i wouldn't be able to focus in life if i didn't have one. just the fact that the phone keeps numbers rather than me remembering them is A+++++ would use agian.

actually i got a friend who's dad works in the pay phone business.. he has a lot of his phones in more of the ghetto areas... and he makes really raelly really ridiculously good money...with them. i dont know how. but it's lots of money.

yeah. that's why usualy when a payphone is ringing, only certain people pick them up. i read a book about these amazingly smart gangsters and all their moves were coordinated with payphones.
