The Video Game Controversy

Over the years there has been much debate and controversy over video games. I'm sure we have all heard about attmepts to ban certain video games and to stop certain games as well. People bring out facts about video games leading to violence but is there evidence to really back that up?

Here's an interesting little quote from the article.

"The impact of video games containing violence has recently become a focus of research because children are theoretically more susceptible to behavioral influences when they are active participants than when they are observers. To date, violent video games have not been studied as extensively as violent television or movies. The number of studies investigating the impact of such games on youth aggression is small, there have been none on serious violence, and none has been longitudinal."

It's interesting how they are trying to see if there truly is a link between violence in games and violence in real life. Though if you really think about it violence has really become an everyday occurance. You see it on the news, on tv shows, you can even see it in walking around, and of course you hear about violence even in music anymore. It's pretty much everywhere. Are violent video games one of the major contributing factors? It's hard to say for sure but this article considers that.
