you really got your hold on me

Glassjaw is a N.Y. based rock band.

Dan The Automator is an amazing D.J. and producer whose work ranges from track mixing for several artists including the Beastie Boys, Herbie Hancock and Depeche Mode to Cibo Matto, Primal Scream, John Spencer Blues Explosion and Stereolab. He has also done collaboration work with DeLaSoul and producer Prince Paul. The point is, you should know who he is!...and if you don't then i don't know what to say.

Now what happens when you combine the two?

Now those of you who may know me are probably thinking she doesn't like hip-hop what is she babbling about? Well this is true, but I must admit, I am a sucker for both DeLaSoul and Handsome Boy Modeling School (<-check them out too!). I personally have never had any interest in Glassjaw either, despite persitence from my buddy Bryan (a.k.a. Ophelia)...and honestly, I still don't like them. However, when I heard about this new addition the the list of The Automator's projects, I had hear for myself, and I'm here to tell you that Head Automatica it is definately worth listening to.

The Vocal aspect of the group may take some time to warm up to, but the combination of rock along with the creative institution of Automator's beats makes for an intense blend of two genres that typically would not be combined.

Listen for yourself...I have chosen the two songs I like the best...and if you like them, then buy the album(or ask me for a copy hehe)-and be sure to catch them on tour sometime(rumor has it they have played with Thursday)... enjoy

handsome boy modeing school? they got that name from chris elliot's show "get a life"

deanh77 deanh77Founder

yeah, they sample a lot of chris elliot. either from the show or the phenomonal "Cabin Boy"

deanh77 deanh77Founder

yeah, Dan "The Automator" Nakamura (sp?) is awesome. Check out Deltron 3030, one of my favorite albums ever. its a collaboration between him and Del the Funkee Homospian, who is the rapper you hear on the Gorillaz hit "Clint Eastwood" (Gorillaz was a collaboration between The Automator and Damon Albarn).

Handsome Boy Modeling School has an album from '99 called So, How's Your Girl? I freaking love it. It's essential campy trip hop with a serious old school feel. SOLID GOLD!
