eZabel Legacy

Valerie from Long Valley, New Jersey, was sixteen years old when she joined eZabel in 2002, and she had the kind of offbeat personality that made her stand out immediately. She introduced herself to ekulu as someone who liked to "throw dead jellyfish and mountain climb" — which was either a hobby combination unique in human history or the perfect encapsulation of a Jersey shore teenager with a sense of adventure. She attended the same hall as raerae, thefunkyfresh, and rocksupastar, and was friends with flomojopoanode. Her comments ranged from a vivid takedown of salt-and-vinegar chips ("they attack your taste buds") to a heartfelt journal entry about fighting loneliness by retreating to her "cave" with a heated blanket and a magazine. She journaled about being sixteen and feeling trapped in a playpen you can almost reach over, and she dreamed of swimming in a kiddie pool of noodles — an idea she credited to an old lady from Patch Adams. She showed up to eZabel events, threw a party at her house in March 2003, and once informed the site that Eskimo kisses were on their way out thanks to electric heaters.

eZabel Personality Type: ENFP — "The Jellyfish Thrower." Ten comments, two journals, attendance at multiple eZabel events, and a reading habit that dwarfed her posting — Val was a lurker with a vivid inner world who surfaced just often enough to remind everyone that the quiet ones are usually the most interesting.
