I am sicilian. I have been trying to learn so that I can talk to my Nonna and Nonno. Plus, I am "getting to know" someone in the circuit. I got my first Italian Bible and got pretty good at looking up the scriptures by the end of the day, didn't have the guts to sing though.
The best is commenting for the first time. It's so nerve racking. Whenever I've been to an Italian meeting, I always like to read a scripture as my comment because you don't have to figure out the right grammar and stuff.
I can't even imagine commenting at this point. I will definitely go to a meeting though. I had so much fun yesterday.
The weirdest thing was seeing friends from back home in PA who now live in Hartford, Conn. who are learning Italian. The circuit covers a huge area.
Commenting gets easier down the road... its the real spontaneous answers that get me, unless I have it written down what I want to say, my Italian would come out a grammatical mess....
What is the name of the friends who are now in Hartford from PA?
The circuit includes the 2 congregations in CT, the 1 congregation in NJ, and the 5 congregations in NY. I believe there is still a group that meets in Old Bridge, NJ and in Philly. There is also a new group now in Boston, MA and up in the Wallkill, NY area.
The difference between the Circuit and District assmeblies are the 2 Italian congregations from Chicago.
So which congregation is this person your "getting to know" from? I thought the single youth fountains in the Italian were all dried up...
dried up? darn and i was gonna start hitting them up haha
The friends in Hartford are Jared Cutler and his parents, Dave and Diane Nelson. It was so crazy to see them, Dave used to work in my Father's pizza shop and new me as a toddler. It's such a small world.
I saw tons of young people at the assembly. Of course, they might have been younger than they looked. Those Italian girls were all beautiful.
My friend is from a congregation in LI. Something Park. I think it starts with an F. I wouldn't call him a youth though.
I loved the assembly though. I wouldn't do the convention, don't want to go to Canada to understand only a few words...but I would definitely do another assembly or a meeting.
Jared Cutler? Really? The one who is married and him and his wife are expecting a child?
So there are young ones left in the Italian? Really? WOW... maybe I should pay it another visit. Well, of course the Italian girls were all beautiful, they are Italian ;)
Is your friend from the Florham Park congregation? Now your making me remember all the years and memories I had in the Italian...
This year the District is in Toronto too, they moved it from Montreal...
If you live in Jersey there is a congregation in Ridgefield you can visit.
Yeah, he and his wife are expecting in October. It was so weird to see him. The last time I saw him he was probably a teenager and I was maybe 10 years old. We had an assembly part together.
Yeah, the congregation is Florham Park. I couldn't remember the name.
Maybe I'll try visiting Ridgefield. I use my new Italian Bible with my American one now. I can't believe how much I learned from just one day at the assembly. I am feeling very motivated. I love it.
Thats so funny, Jared and Talitha stayed in my basement this past weekend for the assembly. Talitha's parents and my parents are best friends, our families would go away almost every summer... She is like one of my older sisters... Im guessing since you havent seen him in such a long time, you werent at their wedding?
I should get a new Italian Bible and song book. My old song book has drawings all over the back page where everyone is singing (some people here have done the same thing!)...
No, I wasn't at their wedding. Actually, I didn't realize Jared was married until last year. My friend Sabrina used to go to Florham Park, but moved down to NJ when she got married. She saw him at some gathering and she mentioned me, where I was from and he told her that his family was close to my mine when they lived in PA.
WOW... what a small world
I wonder why it is that some nationalities are overall better looking than others. Not that it's a set rule...but for the most part it's true. For example....italians, brazilians, egyptians....beautiful....people from the UK...not so much. (First countries that came to mind)
That is so true... you can also include some french, swedish and swiss people. But of course, everyones opinion of beautiful differs. Some people consider beautiful girls ugly and ugly girls beautiful, but I think your statement really applies for the majority of people...
don't forget eastern european!!! all the models are either from brazil or the Poland/Russia area. Go Poland! wink wink
Yeh, I definately dig 'em. Girls that come to mind are Elisabeth Hasselbeck representing Poland & Mila Kunis respresenting Ukraine. I've definately seen very attractive Polish and Czech girls in my day.
hasselbeck is polish?! i didn't know that.
yehp
I resent that! In defense for us Belfastians!
