I dunno if that was an example of what I'm about to mention or not, but you know what I can't stand?!..when people, older people, take something that's no more than their opinion, and try to push it on younger people as fact and make it seem like they have scriptural basis, cause they're old & they can do stuff like that w/out getting questioned, lol...Like I said, your situation might not have been an example of that at all..but..sheesh
Sometimes old people say funny things about dating to..example:
I was in the car out in service with two older sisters (like..old) and I wasn't really paying to much attention to what they were asking me so when they asked if I had like a single boy I was serious about and I said "no.." I do stuff like that a lot when I'm not paying attention, I just answer without even going over the question first. Well, they said that this was good because you shouldn't just stay with one boy, I should have fun and go out with as many boys as I want to. Perhaps they should rewrite the YPA book?
I love warped advice. That's right, go sow your wild oats.
I didn't take offense, this brother is cool and I was told he sometimes says things that are off the wall. However, it isn't right for someone to push their beliefs of what is right and wrong on you--when it has no scriptural basis. AND IT HAPPENS ALL THE TIME!!! Personal opinions should be left out of counsel. I shudder to think what my Mom would have done to that elder if I had followed his advice.
