A new era is about to begin next Friday night at the Grist Mill Cafe in Andover, NJ. Fin's first show will be a short accoustic set at the cafe on open mike night. You might also catch a short accoustic set from our friends Band From Society as well.
We don't know the exact time we will be playing, because, again, it's open mike night and anything could happen, so it all depends on when we sign up for it. Everyone is invited, of course, but not everyone can fit in the tiny cafe. We'd love to see you all there, but it just won't work.
I'll tell you what--if it goes well, and we have a good turn out, we'll do it again and the rest of you can catch us then--sound good!?
By the way, after the show, I'll be putting up a poll, so don't forget to come back.

ok, quick question, is it pronounced 'Fin' like the dorsal appendage or 'Fin' like the end in spanish?
good question. It's really undetermined. I say it the spanish way, but Toby says the dorsal way. The meaning has to do with the spanish word "fin".
you should change the spelling to "FEEN" but the pronounciation to "FUN" and change the style from contemporary rock to not so much "playing instruments" and "making music" to "sticking post-it notes to your heads" and "eating cake"

it actually is based on the latin word "fin", which is the basis of the spanish word also french, italian and english. anyway... technically it is pronounced "feen", yes, but i just figured eventually everyone will say "fin" so i may as well start it now...
i chose the name fin b/c i have wanted to get a band together for a LONG time with guys that are really good, and are naturals, that can really carry their own weight musically and then some. and finally there they are... Todd, Jose, and John... all amazing musicians.

I don't think it's cheesy (though, I may be biased). I just don't consider myself an amazing the best of the musicians. I'm the low end, bringing up the rear. The other guys are amazing--Toby, Jose, and John--that's for sure.

My uncle through marriage is japanese, born and raised. i JUST called him. he said that in many dialects they say Ray-men, whereas others say rah-men. and they are both widely accepted...

Really? That's quite surprising. I don't think I've ever heard a Japanese speaker pronounce 'ra' that way. Did he mention which dialects pronounce it that way? I don't doubt that he knows more about this than I, but in the standard Tokyo dialect it's definitely pronounced rah-men.

That should totally work! I have almost mastered avoiding traffic on friday nights on Route 80 from 1+ year driving to the ledgewood-byram-andover area. I'm just a bit worried about the snow thing.

Hey, we were going to try to do a show this friday, but that won't work. So, now we are thinking about doing a show NEXT friday. We'll figure it out and let you know what's up. For now, let's just say that it's on!
