AWW! hahah i love cats inside bags/boxes or like, behind curtains, they get so insane! it's hysterical.

tesoro #130 tesoroOG 2001

Oh gosh, i'm never eating pork again. I've never been a fan of it, and when i start thinking about it, it's the meat that bothers me the most because pigs are so smart. And this morning, on the way to work, there was a huge tractor trailer with all these adorable little pigs in the back, and i was stopped at a light next to them, and they were sticking their cute little noses through the bars, and looking at me with these sweet eyes. I can't take it, seriously, never eating them again. :-(

sorry piggies.

it's ok, I'll eat twice as much now!

JACK JOHNSON IS WORKING ON A NEW ALBUM, DUE OUT IN FEB 2008!!!!! WOOHOOO!

fivezero #129.1 fivezeroOG 2003

so all the little girls can dream of their sensetive little acoustic surfer boy. singin' the simple songs of your heart like it was you with your loved one sitting upon sand and wishing upon the waves. *wretch*

i think his only redeeming quality is that he doesn't take himself seriously.

y'know? i actually like this guy's music. no foolin'.

socalgal #129.1.1 socalgalOG 2003

coming from a surfer girl....his sound is soothing like the ocean. like you can just sit there after a surf session, listening to some jack, with the fire going and totally chill. its one of the most amazing feelings ever

a spare phone that's connected to your number?

originalsnob originalsnobOG 2004

Yeah how do you get that? What carrier?

g.f.s.rocks g.f.s.rocksOG 2001

Yeah, I still have 4 of my last verizon phones, so I put one in the car just in case I forget mine at home. All I have to do than is call verizon (not from my cell phone, obviously) and activate that phone or just go online and do it there. Its not that bad, I just cant see myself without having a phone... I actually reverted back to Analog when I was down in Kentucky for unassigned territory... now that was a blast from the past...

socalgal socalgalOG 2003

so you ahve all 4 lines running at once? how can that be? extra charges? i need to know cause my phone is my life and i would love to do this.

g.f.s.rocks g.f.s.rocksOG 2001

No no, they arent all running at once. BUT if I need it to be activated all I do is call Verizon or go on the website and activate the phone. This will than make that phone the primary phone, until I go back to my original phone and re-activate that one to use...

socalgal socalgalOG 2003 g.f.s.rocks

if you want to see a movie that makes you feel like a kid again and makes you wish disney pricesses were real see Enchanted

i saw this.. and i liked it

Amy Adams actually moves and talks and acts like a cartoon disney priness! The movie is extremely silly and totally childish but cute and fun. And makes you sad how cynical this world is that a super happy positive person is considered a crazy mental patient.

My favorite part was when she met a couple who was getting divorced, and her eyes WELLED up with tears all dramatic exactly like a cartoon princess would, and she got so upset that the couple's love was ending, and it was just a really cute part. Divorce is so common these days that people don't even react to it. The way she reacted to it was priceless.

and i HATE musicals, HATE HATE HATE, but I loved this haha

I'm between a Samsung and a Toshiba (I'm leaning towards Samsung) does anyone get the whole contrast ratio thing??? How does it work, is it the higher the number the clearer the display or the reverse??? I also get that different companies start at different levels so that's throwing me a bit.

PLEASE HELP!

thanx =D

iwz #101.1 iwz

The higher the contrast, the better. So, 1:10,000 is really really good, but you pay more for it. It's the ratio between black and white, basically.

I'd go with Samsung. But, do post a link to the one you're looking at.

theremin #98.1 thereminOG 2002

Yeh, I know. Altho, that's the first I'm hearing about execution! Is that true!? I was surprised enough last week or 2, when they were talking about 3 possible punishments -- A fine, or 6 months in jail, or fourty lashes with a whip. And last week they decided to jail her. Execution talk now!!?? Crazy!!!! Plus, the kids in the class decided they liked the name Mohammad for the Teddy Bear, named after a kid that's actually in their class. That's insane. I hope she's able to be rescued from this.

This is why being a teacher can be a totally thankless job.

When I get over my emotional exhausted-ness of this semester and don't have to wake up at 5am anymore after getting five hours of sleep, I will share my stories of student teaching in Paterson.

No one threatened to execute me, fortunately.

note to self

take it easy on the squats

goodness... i can't walk!!!!!

i've been trying to build the muscles in my leg back up since my knee is pretty much healed up..... sooo.... yeah walking for the past two days has been a challenge hahaha

B
#96.1 brothermanOG 2004

Watch it with squats. Start with leg extensions and low weight on presses. If you aren't using a machine for squats, it's easy to hurt yourself using a bar. I tweaked my knee a couple of years ago doing squats with a bar. I just use a squat machine now, since I don't want to risk messing up my knee again.

juicymango #96.1.1 juicymangoOG 2003

yeah sad thing is i'm not really using heavy weights, just dumbells, like 15 pounders, haha... i just haven't done them in so long, and my one leg is atrophied after my knee injury...

but yeah i have to take it easy lol

juicymango #96.1.2 juicymangoOG 2003

i did some super low weight extensions too, my knee goes CLICK CLICK CLICKETY CLICK CLICK it's scary!!!

B
#96.1.2.1 brothermanOG 2004

You might want to just stick to a stationary bike for now. My knee does that too, but I can't hear it unless my ear is right up against it. I'm sure one day I'll have to be scoped.

ilikebirds #95 ilikebirdsOG 2002

I was talking to paul on fri...can't believe how big kadence is already. crazy! she's all grown up

tesoro #94 tesoroOG 2001

Having people over can really be expensive. I just looked at our bank account, and we spent close to $300 to have 20 people over for dinner on saturday. That's a lot! I mean, it's for turkey, ham, veggies and such and also, booze and paper products. But still, wow, i didn't realize it.

iwz #94.1 iwz

However, that's less than $14 per person (including you and Austin), which is really pretty reasonable. Plus, no tip!

superhero #94.1.1 superheroOG 2004

hmm that's true. i definitely agree with the idea of asking everyone to bring something, though.

I've taught Lauren to ALWAYS say "we'll bring dessert". It's so easy - buy some Entenmann's for like $5 - BAM. DONE. Lauren was previously baking for everything we got invited to ... i'm like "let's keep it easy, and focus on eating someone else's food"

maybe i'm a bad influence

theremin #94.1.1.1 thereminOG 2002

No, that's actually good. Jesus said to Martha: “Martha, Martha, you are anxious and disturbed about many things."

tesoro #94.1.2 tesoroOG 2001

yea, that is def true, but when you go out to dinner w/ 20 people, you usually don't foot the bill. haha

it's not that i'm unhappy we did it. Everything was really nice and everyone had a good time. And sometimes i think it's easier to have a bunch of people over at once than 4 or 6 at a time, cuz then it takes a lot longer to get around to different ones in the cong. We are trying eventually to have everyone over at one point or another, and we have 14 elders and 150 publishers, so that'll take a while.

You just kinda deceive yourself when you go to the liquor store one day, sam's club the next and the grocery store the last, you don't realize how much you're spending. lol

B
#94.2 brothermanOG 2004

Whoa... That's why you ask people to bring something with them. Haha...

tesoro #94.2.1 tesoroOG 2001

Actually, every couple/family that came brought either a side dish, wine or dessert. I do think i made too much food, cuz i'm always paranoid that i'm not going to have enough, so i made a 20 lb turkey and a 12 lb ham, and like 5 lbs of green beans. Haha, i chalk it up to making way too much food because i'm italian and i like to make people eat, but i think it's really because i can't judge it well. lol

B
#94.2.1.1 brothermanOG 2004

Haha... Everyone brought stuff and you still spent that much! Wow...

malibu #94.3 malibuOG 2001

its so weird. i was just checking my banking account because we had like 20 people over and i'm thinking....wait how much did i spend? was yours because you got the free turkey from shoprite?

superhero #94.3.1 superheroOG 2004

mmmm free turkey ... i love leftover turkey sandwiches, open face, with gravy .... aaaaaaaaahhhhh

tesoro #94.3.2 tesoroOG 2001

hahaha, yea, i'm like, me & austin could never handle a 20lb turkey, let's have 20 people over instead.

juicymango #94.4 juicymangoOG 2003

dang i wanna have a big dinner and i don't think i can fit 20 people at my house AND i cannot spend $300 in one night in the winter when i have almost no work ha

tesoro #94.4.1 tesoroOG 2001

well, my house is not very big, we just had people in the kitchen & set up a table in the living room.

Also, something that i have to remember is that you don't have to have people over for a big dinner, you can make it at like 7pm instead of 5pm,(like after dinner-ish time) and just do appetizers and desserts or something. I will prob do that next time.

tesoro #93 tesoroOG 2001

i really think that you build up a dependancy to chapstick. I'm a compulisive chapstick user, and if i don't use it for a few hours, my lips get so chapped, Austin never uses it, and his lips are never chapped!

hunkpapap #93.1 hunkpapapOG 2003

i have four thousand sticks of chapstick. I bite my lips if i don't constantly have schmutz on them....

superhero #93.2 superheroOG 2004

i believe this. i never use it and never have a problem.

ilikebirds #92 ilikebirdsOG 2002

Just watched "Man from Earth"
Don't know what the hoopla is all about.
Guess movies are so dumbed down nowadays anything with a little dialogue is considered great?

tesoro #91 tesoroOG 2001

Me & Austin were on TV! Someone just called Austin.

At yesterday's meeting, they had news reporters taping us as we came in, and i guess we made the cut! haha Phew, i'm glad i straightend my hair.

I hope i can find it!

iwz #91.1 iwz

They're still covering this? What's the focus of the news at this point?

tesoro #91.1.1 tesoroOG 2001

Just the progress that is being made. And it's really remarkable. Already, we have cleared away all the debris, replaced the shingles on the garage roof that were damaged. Even cleaned the grass surrounding the area.

I guess we don't have a whole lot of news around here, so they're still interested in us. I hope they tape us doing the rebuild.

iwz #91.1.1.1 iwz

Very cool! That's good to hear that progress is already being made. Very encouraging :)

superhero #91.2 superheroOG 2004

i'm counting field service time for everyone who watched TV today

Stauffer's Animal Crackers are such a good, low-fat snack. For 16 (large) crackers, it's only 120 calories and 2 grams of fat.
(Barnum or whatever animal crackers are quite a bit higher in fat)

Taca Airlines (Taca.com) Has awesome fares to latin america.

tesoro #88 tesoroOG 2001

So, ya know how the WT said yesterday how we are born w/ a sense of justice cuz even children can see what's fair or unfair. So i was talking about that last night when we had people over, and i said..."A sense of justice is inbred in us" and everyone was raging on me saying, that word is only for like, inbreeding or something...welllllll, i just looked it up, and the synonyms were instict, or ingrained.

I'm so calling them up to tell them i'm right! haha

iwz #88.1 iwz

ur such an inbred

hunkpapap #88.5 hunkpapapOG 2003

correct but probably uncommon usage. 'We have a sense of justice inbred' or 'Inbred justice' might've been less confusing.

so friday my brother, my dad, my cousin, and i went to the city to go to the knicks game. We ended up seeing derek jeter and this guy. Jeter was filming a gatorade commercial in the village, and alex, my cousin, and i walked right into the set as they were getting ready to film. It was funny cuz they were telling other people to go away but i don't think they realized we weren't supposed to be there at first. the other dude was there too, he was hitting on some old lady.

then we went to the game which was awesome because the knicks came back from 17 points down and won at the end. Then we walked back and found our car had been towed. oh well, still a good day!

juicymango #86 juicymangoOG 2003

So, Nicole Atkins show this weekend at Stone Pony was AMAZING. We met her after the show and had her sign a poster for "mashed potatoes" haha... and we met Cashmere the keyboard playa extraordinnaire

it was cool because she is from Neptune so she said most of her audience at the Stone Pony was her family, and so everyone that was there was her family for the night, it was sweet

she is playing at a bunch of Borders stores in the next month it looks like, that is interesting... i wonder if it will be acoustic sets? She's playing in Paramus, Red Bank, Eatontown, and then the Bowery Ballroom in NYC in january.

Anwyay, see her.

juicymango #86.1 juicymangoOG 2003

and i really do not like chick music. I love Fiona Apple but that's pretty much it. i go to metal shows. i do not go to folk singy girly shows. she is the exception. And she is amazing!!

juicymango #86.2.1.1 juicymangoOG 2003

it was a little crowded because it waas in her home town

usually it's not really crowded, i've seen her 2 other times, it's a cool crowd, mix of middle-aged women, tatted up guys and chicks with haircuts and glasses like mine haha

yeah she is so good live
