Go to any cool concerts this summer? Any planned?
I'm going to the Format and Ted Leo in August, but nothing so far. What have been the best shows of your summer? Of your life?

Page 1 of 5100Monkeys YES they are awesome LIVE checked them out in NYC this weekend they were insane. Checking them out on their second tour stop- hitting up their Boston, Philly, and NJ stops too!
Red Abbey opened T is a POWERHOUSE totally inspirational she's amazing Treys pretty talented too but T owns the stage and her vocals are sick. I'd never caught any of their material before, I'm an instant fan!
I've a long time ago realised that I don't really have similar music interests with the majority here, but anyway...
What I saw since the last post...
Super Furry Animals.. again
Animal Collective
Manic Street Preachers.. again (this could've been the best concert so far of any band I've seen..)
What I may be seeing coming up...
Sonic Youth & Dinosaur Jr. together at same show
Sonic Youth tomorrow night! One of the bands that made the bands to see before you die list!
are you sure they aren't just a band you see and then die?
i saw them in nyc a few years ago. they stumbled on stage. did a static filled medley of songs. stumbled off the stage leaving their instruments shrieking. they were on stage for maybe 20-25 minutes.
Hmm Sounds like you were at a Sonic Youth cover band's show
nah, it was them. i'm a big fan, but that show was a bummer.
i need to listen to more of their stuff, but i'm not really into the whole experimental/noise stuff. imo
I could care less if others like them or not... but here you go anyway, if were curious enough to sample their most recent album aka a rock album ..melodies & lyrics

BLINK 182 IS BACK!!! seeing them every time they come around this summer!

at The Brighton Bar
hahaha
no lie
But, I have to work :(
Last night Lauren and I went to see Rob Thomas at Foxwoods - it was a benefit concert for the charity he and his wife founded.
The show was really nice, Foxwoods is a good venue with comfy seats and plenty of arm room. Rob played for about an hour and a half - old songs, new stuff, a couple of covers including an acoustic version "Time after Time" and "the Joker". He actually told a story about playing his acoustic version of "Time after Time" for Cindi Lauper and she was totally unimpressed. The also played an acoustic of "Smooth" which is excellent and the guy next to me started crying.
Overall, a great performance and a really fun night.
sounds like a good time.
The Rocket Summer this Saturday night!
Last night (yes, after the meeting) Lauren and I went to see Nightmare of You at a place that we pass every day on the way to work. There were only like 40 people there (it was kind of sad) and we were the only ones there in meeting clothes.
They played a good set, and I thoroughly enjoyed myself. The guys in the band kind of know us now (there's not many people to know, I'm guessing) so Brandon (the lead singer) and Lauren now play a game where Lauren guesses what song is coming on next. It's humorous in a weird way.
Good show, overall. I'm thinking they'll never make it big, although I don't know why. The music is fun, New Wave is always cool, and the lyrics are interesting and catchy, while not being pathetic and emo.
I like Nightmare of You a lot. I think someone uploaded them to my FTP a coupla years ago.
I did not realize that
a) they are a somewhat local band
b) they have not already made it big
yeah they're from long island and the city, i think. sadly, they won a "who's next" contest from MTV back in 2006, that other bands have become famous from (like Coheed, My Chemical Romance) but ... ah well
yeah i love them. they gotta come out with a new album.

Busy P & DJ Mehdi, Santo's Party Room NYC, Sept 18
MSTRKRFT & Felix Cartal, Webster Hall NYC, Oct 10
Busy-P & DJ Mehdi [Both from Paris, France] @ Santos Party House in NYC
Amazing DJ sets from both these guys. They DJ'd about 75 minutes each and then rotated here and there til the end. DJ Mehdi looked like he was having more fun than anyone in that place. Busy-P had audience connect issues, but he killed it all the same.
Highlights were:
-To Protect & Entertain by Busy P, feat. Murs
-Stress & DVNO by Justice
-Windowlicker by Aphex Twin
-Kids by MGMT
-Hey Boy Hey Girl by Chemical Brothers
-Set closer was a glitched up version of Where Is My Mind by The Pixies
Santo's Party Room is in the Lower East Side? Invite me next time. You can park over here and we'll take the Ferry over.
Upcoming New York shows: Secret Machines, The Decemberists, & Dr. Dog
going to see Anberlin Oct/29 at webster hall!
anyone down to see the ataris at maxwells in hoboken?
fri, sept 26th.
oooh that sounds cool. for some reason im really into the ataris lately. let's do eeet!
that sounds really good. I've been listening to them a lot lately, and really enjoyed when we saw Kris acoustic a couple of months ago.
this may be just my personal opinion, but i do not like the acoustics in maxwells.
how much are tickets?

Breaking Benjamin
With Special Guest Seether
The Front (me, todd, alex, and jose) playing at Centenary College August 30th
Ended up going to Toms River fest yesterday too. I saw Gavin Degraw and Lifehouse. Didn't think I would enjoy it as much as I did.
saw Live and Collective Soul last night at Musikfest
blast from the past
I'm seeing them today! yay!
yeah Collective Soul are old dudes stuck in the early 90's, didn't relaly connect with the crowd and were CORNY as ever
Live was pretty amazing as I thought they would be
Got sucked into going to Toms River Fest this year. It's held literally across the street from my house. 3-4 minute walk.
Gonna go Sunday only. I'll be seeing Avril Lavigne, Daughtry, Collective Soul, and Live. I wouldn't normally go out of my way to see any of these acts, but a buncha friends are going and I kinda dig Live and Collective Soul. The rest of the stuff I can laugh at.
ugh avril lastink
I would've liked to see Collective and Live. Didn't know about it. Found out as I was going to the Joshua Huddy, that my sister was going to that Fest to see Daughtry.... but I didn't know anything about Collective and Live playing. And, I'd probably take the opportunity to invite Carrie Underwood for a Rita's Ice.
Yeah, we saw Sher there.
We left after Collective Soul and Live. Live was REALLY, REALLY good. They played Lakini's Juice which is my favorite song by them. I was pleased.
All Points West Festival -- I have two extra tickets to Friday (8/8)anyone interested?
Radiohead, Underworld, The Go Team, Girl Talk, CSS, Duffy, Andrew Bird, Grizzly Bear, Mates of States + more
Radiohead, Underworld, and Grizzly Bear. Awesome Awesome Awesome. Who is "more"?
I'm seeing Radiohead on the 12th... but no harm in seeing them twice. I probably have to say no tho, cuz I'm taking off work for the 12th and 15th already.
see the whole line up here:
dude you weren't gonna bother mentioning, Animal Collective and The Secret Machines!? Especially Animal Collective bruv. Love them!
I only mentioned the bands that were playing on Friday.
I too, love animal collective, however I saw them live earlier this year and I was highly disappointed
Beat. Well, I see Radiohead on Tuesday and I think Grizzly Bear is opening for them!
duuuude. radiohead??

OMG i want to see the stereophonics, but of course we're in Mexico that week
Me too dude, me too. I mean I'm not in Mexico as well that week.. but I miss Stereophonics every single time they come around. And, of course they're playing when I have to work & I'm already going be missing enough work days next month to take off any more days for a long while.
Saw Jakob Dylan last week ... can't remember if I wrote about that. I love the Wallflowers but this show was super-boring. I posted on the Wallflowers message board how boring it was, and some fans got really mad. haha.
I almost wish I wasn't tempted to look at concert dates...they just end up depressing me in the end (cuz I can't logically go to every show I wanna go to...I need to enter concert rehab)

Saw El-P, Dizzy Rascal, Kidz in the Hall, and Busdriver on Friday in Philly. Intense show. El-P, Dizzy Rascal and Busdriver come highly recommended.
GOLDFINGER
MONDAY, JUNE 23RD
BALTIMORE, MD
OMG where are my NJ TICKETS ... please post dates ASAP
i need to have a long chat with John Feldman about these stupid "free the animals" songs.
hold on, no NJ dates. looks like MD is the closest location to me.
how much are tickets for MD?
i'm thinking that at the end of the show, i'll offer to buy John Feldman a beer so we can talk, man to man, about the content of these songs, and how he's affecting my level of fun by spending so much time worrying about these animals.
$25, me & Tina are going. Our boys bailed! You & Lauren should come! You guys could stay at our place.
yo how about just me and a friend ... because lauren is busy going arabic dancing that night, and i definitely do not do that
wait, this concert is on a monday? what the ... wait, i just realized i'm in chicago for work that day ... ARGH WHY STAPLES WHY!!
chicago! i can't wait to go there. We're going mid-june! i've never been. is it amazing? did you meet the sausage king?
i've been to chicago 6 times. i have worked every minute of every time i've been there. i want to see chicago but i know i never will.
I've been to Chicago. Fun! I intended to just stay there, but instead I came back to NJ... why did I ever come back... ::hits self::
I'm going to Live 105's BFD on June 7. The line-up this year is awesome. Check it out at http://www.live105.com/pages/1989575.php
Yays: The Kooks.
annnnd... that's all I'm seeing from that list that I like.
:(
Well, it's in San Fran anyway. Not that I wouldn't travel if I thought I'd like the Festival enough.
That would be a very excellant show for me. The whole Scion Subsonic Tent is quality electro. I'd never leave. I'm seeing MSTRKRFT on Friday. Stop by that tent and get your groove on! MSTRKRFT & Moby? SWEET!
I'll also recommend MGMT. Who are you looking forward to seeing?
Personally, I'm most looking forward to seeing Cypress Hill and Flogging Molly. Alkaline Trio and Everlast could be good too. I'm thinking Moby and Lyrics Born are the most interesting from the Scion Tent. I'm not really sure what to expect, though, since I've never been to a concert this big. All the concerts I've been to previously have had maybe three bands playing. I'm really excited about it.
Be sure to let us know who you saw and what you thought.
Definitely.
So my friends and I ended up seeing Everlast, Flogging Mollys, Pennywise, and Cypress Hill. We were thinking of staying for Moby, but we were really tired by that point, and decided to head home.
Overall, it was awesome, though I think I do prefer smaller concerts. Everlast was great and the Flogging Mollys were even better live than I expected. I really need to see them again, preferably when they're headlining.
uh ... question. If you go to Yankee Stadium, and you want to get something on the jumbo-tron, what would you do? (it's a long story.)
http://newyork.yankees.mlb.com/nyy/ballpark/stadium_messages.jsp i wanna hear the story.
Wow. I am very impressed. I had actually completely forgotten about this idea until this moment, due to having a horrible week full of allergies and a circuit overseer visit.
THANK YOU!
i just called and left a message for the people. trust me, whatever happens will be truly embarrassing, but not for myself. also, $100 is a small price to pay for this.
it's my brother-in-law Ben's night out before he gets married. he's not 21 yet (hence the long story) and it's a surprise (it's hard to find ways to surprise a 20 year old) and this is my chance to truly get him back for falling asleep during my wedding talk.
