"LOST"
the new tv show "LOST" is absolutely essential tv watching. i watch NO tv, but THIS is a QUALITY show. i admonish all to watch it. the two hour pilot was clipped into two pieces over the last two wednesdays. luckily, they're replaying the whole pilot, combined, this saturday.
this show's got awesome action, the effects are movie-like, the acting is KEY and all the performances are spot on, the characters are COMPLETELY unpredictable. one of the coolest aspects is that theres like 50 survivors in the group so they'll be a revolving door of interesting characters and personalities. J.J. Abrams, the mastermind behind Alias, is in creative control of the series and thats definitely a good thing.
the thing that hooked me is that this isn't a normal "plane crash survivors stranded on a tropical island" dealy. you don't know why the plane went down, you don't know where they are, you don't know who's going to be dangerous and who's going to be helpful. there are some REALLY mysterious scifi undertones that will make for some HUGE revelations later in the season and series.
color me extremely excited. i'm having a viewing at my joint on saturday. YESSS!

yeah... WOW
you're not kidding. we all screamed!
something i wrote to a buncha whiny, annoying LOST fans that happen to be my friends, lol
i DON’T think the show is made up on the fly. it’s all just WAY too complicated. the map, the hatches, the others, dharma, hanso, the religion, the science, the character subtext. no way this is being slapped together haphazardly. I DO think things change during production and not everything goes as planned and accomadations need to made from time to time. these things dictate what plot tid-bits are brought to light, when they’re brought to light, and also what things have to be put off or accelarated in order to preserve a good pay-off. the details on that scrawled map will CERTAINLY be a guide to the trajectory of the WHOLE next season, if not the whole series. like finding the hatch was to the second season. i have faith in the deliberate pacing. theres an ARC at work. 5+ seasons long or so they say. do you think they will make the same mistake the producers of the X-files and Alias made when everyone is throwing that in their face every single day? unlike a lot of show producers these dudes take what the fans say and debunk it as the series progresses! hurley’s ‘time travel’ and ‘everyone is a part of his own personality’ gags. also the sun and walt ‘are we being punished’ thing. these dudes are dancing a pretty amazing jig, if you ask me.
NOW as for stuff that was introduced and never really devoloped: Jack will still build a little army and Jack will have a war—BEGINNING at the end of this season. Ecko is building a Church—watch. Desmond will be back—super soon. the sickness—i dunno. i still think the time frame Frenchy mentioned hasn’t arrived. theres more, but i forget them now.
ADDITIONALLY: there are a few things that i don’t know how to read and that’s Locke’s erratic behavior, Charlies dark side stuff, and Sawyers gun-hoarding thing. these seem like accomadations and/or devices that exist to make later occurances more believable. can’t really vouch for those things. again, there are more but i forget them now.
another thing i read from the producers: with all the people going on about the breaks in the season. they’re going to remedy that next season by doing three “mini-seasons.” 7 episodes, 7 episodes, 8 episodes. with an undetirmined amount of time between the blocks. i like the sound of that a lot.
I don’t even know about the mythos anymore. Way too many curveballs. We’re not gonna figure it out by seeing little clues here and there, especially this early in the series. Trust that. So, resign yourself to a wild ride. Enjoy the characters, because they are ALL very enjoyable. Suck in the well-placed clues, there are subtle ones and not so subtle ones. Let yourself enjoy the pacing, because it’s really not so bad. Lots of really interesting stories and ideas are being set up. Everyone is so ready for the pay-off, and they didn’t even get their pants off yet. That’s America.
I feel bad for the people behind this show. It’s a pretty innovative and complicated venture. They’re doing a show with a lot of subtext and a lot of people don’t get it or don’t care. So, they bait you with pretty faces, Hawaii, amazing stories. What keeps you coming back are the characters. Their stories, their struggles, their pasts. The island is a net. These people are struggling. We’e watching the fur fly. What the impatient folks want is the story on WHY. But, the conspiracy isn’t done cooking. Theres a lot, a lot, a lot of ground to be covered still. Lots of important people that have to be introduced before we’re going to BEGIN understanding the true WHY’S of this whole thing.
The people who produce this show are making it more for the patient people. The people who like a slow burn and appreciate a good build. People who are sick of mindless entertainment and instant gratification. People who know the devil is in the details. It’s super tough for the producers to keep such a wide fan base entertained. They’re doing ok though. Lots of people are still into this series. A sad inevitability is the disappointment a lot of people will feel when the series finally closes. Theres no way this amazing build will work out to be as big as everyone expects it to be. We’re Americans! We whine, we piss, we moan, we get disappointed easily, we send back cheeseburgers, we want $@^& done OUR way! We want our favorite show to be our everything. S’just not that way.
Oh, by the way. This shows OWNS every other show you’ve ever watched, so shut your mouths. WAAAAHHHHHHH WAHHH
ahh well said, well said
i'm convinced they are writing in everything that people are speculating about the show just to make it interesting.
that's true. they've been debunking theories left and right. this is so much fun for me.
last night lou (don't know if you know him) totally missed the end which is almost always the big moment in the show. my friend vanessa and i started filling him in and he's like where was i??
i loved in last night's episode when nothing happened the entire time!!
but seriously this show is ok I guess but I wouldn't watch it if my gf didn't love it
gf?
gf = Gold Fish hahaha
gf = todd
Hahaha!
lol, nuh-uh! I'm a b/f if anything. Geeeezzz.
honey... the men are talking. why don't you go finish the dishes?
Uh oh! You're saying you want Todd to wear a frilly apron for you? Keep it PG on here, ok?
lol
i think everyone hates this show if they only see like one or two episodes, i didn't like it at first i had no interest in it
but once it captures you.. it's OVAH
LIBBYYYYYYYYYYYYY
i knew it all along.
boring.
oh, wow. didn't see that coming, lol
that's what I was going for. Surprise.
It's not that the show is boring, but if you thought that was what I was getting at, that's okay. I don't actually watch it, so I can't judge it. I didn't find it nearly as addicting as 24.
It's more that my comment itself was boring.
YO! check out www.lostlinks.net
check the CTV trailer for tonights episode DAVE. that'll set you up BUT GOOD! yzzzzz!
my heart hurts because I know I will only see the last 10 minutes of this episode and will have to wait to download it. BOO

ooh, good link, zabal
Just recently got totally hooked on this show by a friend of mine. Lost craziness just can't be beat!
no, sir. it can't.
It's like really unbelievable to have a cast of SO many characters that are all SO well developed.
Like I really wanted to pick a favorite and I was just thinking about that now, and I'm like, Locke, Ecko, hmm okay Jack.. okay Sawyer, oh and Kate, and Jin and Sun, and .. HOLY CRAP it's impossible to pick a favorite
I kind of love Henry Gale
well I mean "Henry Gale"
the actor always plays such creepy creepy parts, and he's like a bad guy on Lost but you don't really know what his deal is yet
when he said, last week, "I guess it's a good thing i'm not one of them"
that was hott haha
He is, hands down, my favorite guest star. Hands down. He's so awesome. And he ended the episode before last PERFECTLY! "Got any milk?" I was laid out. Here's what JGM said about Gale:
"Henry's true identity is going to be the topic of a lot of contention on the show. We plan on heaping twist upon twist upon twist with that! Henry is a character that the fans are going to have to watch very closely, because he carries great meaning for the future of Lost and the castaways in general. On the island, his ultimate faith is going to affect everyone on the show."
yeah he's awesome.
good stuff.. good stuff... really a lot more questions raised of course as usual.. i can't even imagine what's gonna happen next
that's what makes this show such a success.. no one can predict what's gonna happen, ever, at all. crazy
that's why i hate TV... all this suspense that leads up to nothing
enjoy the ride

i'm worried that when we finally do get the full explanation of what is going on on the island it's going to be a let down
i mean i think it's going to be a letdown no matter WHAT it is at this point, anything built up THIS much is going to be a letdown
:-/
i don't think it will ever even come to a defined, explained conclusion. we'll have to piece it together with the clues laid throughout the series. theres no way, after such a wild ride, that a satisfying conclusion can be wrought. it's impossible.
i didn't see the episode yet but i'm up to my elbows in spoilers, it's all good

what a waste of time this speculation is, really, the creators of this show are geniuses, GENIUSESESEESESES
So that folks don’t keep posting the same things over and over again ad nauseum, here’s my own take on a summary/analysis of what we know and what we don’t know thus far about the drawing on the door. I won’t address theories about Gale, the supply drop, or other stuff, since that’s really beyond the scope of this thread. And, please forgive me if I state things that are (or should be) obvious. It’s more to get all the facts in one place, rather than assume people know. Also, please don’t quibble with my usage of terms here, unless you think they’re wildly inaccurate.
Feel free to add to, subtract from, or modify this.
What we know (or think we know)
• The drawing on the door was done in ultraviolet-only ink
• There is more than one style of handwriting on the door, implying that more than one person contributed to the drawing.
• There are several different things drawn around the centerpoint. Given that one is labeled the Swan, one the Staff, and one the Arrow, we can infer that the others are also hatches, like those first three.
• Given that the drawing is on the back of the door, it could likely only be done while the door is in the down/closed position.
• Given that the door likely only closes periodically, and given that there is more than one style of handwriting, we can infer that the drawing was done by different people at different times over a long period of time.
• The extent of the drawing implies that the author(s) of the drawing have either been on the island a long time, have done a great amount of exploration, or have access to a body of knowledge unknown to the Losties and us.
• There are two hatches drawn with dashes at the 2 o’clock and 3 o’clock positions. We can presume that these have not been discovered by the author(s) of the drawing, but are suspected to exist.
• There is one hatch at the 8 o’clock position drawn with solid lines, but which has not yet been seen by us labeled “The Flame.” We can infer that its existence is known to the author(s) of the drawing, but not to the Losties.
• There are several mathematical/scientific formulas on the drawing, which are believed to relate to phsyics/calculus/magnetism.
• There are many notes relating to the Dharma Initiative, including references to an intranet, infrastructure, Dharmatel, DIHG, etc. that imply the author(s) have more than a passing knowledge of the Dharma Initiative, it’s organization and structure, its capabilities, its believed purpose/mission/goals, and its location.
• There are many notes in Latin written in a different handwriting style than those relating to the Dharma Initiative, the purpose and relevance of which are unknown.
• There are several lines on the drawing that imply that the map of the known and suspected hatches are drawn overtop/in conjunction with a topographical map of all or part of the island.
What we don’t know, or don’t have enough information about
• The author(s) of the drawing are unknown
• The purpose of the drawing is unknown
• The data and method of collection from which the drawing was created is unknown
• The reason for it being on the back of the door is unknown
• The reason for it being in ultraviolet ink is unknown
• The drawing’s age is unknown
• There are several notations on the drawing to CV (CVI, CVII, CVIII, CVIV, etc). It is unkown whether these are all roman numerals, or if the “CV” refers to something else (Containment Vessel, Core Vent, etc).
• The lines drawn connecting various hatches with each other are of unknown purpose and reference.
• The “incident” referred to in several of the notes is unknown.
• It’s unknown what the centerpoint with the question mark is.
• It’s unknown what the X’s are at the end of the various tunnels at the hatches (presumably, they’re dead ends in underground tunnels)
• It’s unknown what the octagon denotes – whether it’s the island’s boundaries itself, whether some other boundary, or whether it’s just a convenient framework in which the hatches exist.
• It’s unknown what the dates/numbers/equations refer to.
• It’s unknown why the previously drawn hatch at 11 o’clock is scratched out.
• It’s unknown what many of the abbreviations stand for (DIHG, MDG, CV)
Latin Translations
• Hic Sunt Dracones = Here (there) be dragons.
• Malum Consilium Quod Mutari No Potest = Evil advice what change cannot (can't make sense of it... What evil advice cannot change? What evil advice could not change?)
• Cogito Ergo Doleo = I think therefore I am depressed
• Aegrescit Medendo = The treatment is worse than the disease
• Credo Nos In Fluctu Eodem Esse = I think we're on the same wavelength
• Ut Sit Magna, Tamen Certe Lenta Ira Deorum Est = The wrath of the gods may be great, but it certainly is slow
• Sursum Corda = Lift up your hearts (to God)
• Nil Actum Reputa Si Quid Superest Agendum - Don't consider that anything has been done if anything is left to be done.
• Liberte Te Ex Infernus = Save Yourself from Hell
• Aeg Exit Montendo=? not sure
pretty good episode. Sayid is the man, because I would have believed the guy when I found the parachute.
so did "Gale" push something to make the blast doors go back up? hmmm. what the heck was on the door?
why is it written in invisible ink?
what was the countdown for, that was barely audible?
i was thinking like sayid, but i thought the grave would be empty. do you think this fake henry gale was coming to relieve desmond? he was pretty chill once locke came up to the control room. also, in the flashback...was lock inspecting sayid's woman's house?
I think Gale knows more about the hatch than he's letting on. I could be dead wrong tho. It's possible the baloon man was coming to relieve one of the hatch men. We still don't know who the original hatch men are. We know one is named Kelvin. That's it. Desmond needs to get his butt back to this series. Where the heck is he anyway? As for the flashback: Good eye. That IS Sayid's woman.
Sun and Jin are sooooooooooo beautiful. When Sun was walking her big dog in her cute little outfit and heals?? SOOO CUTE.
How long have they been on the island now, around 50 days? Isn't it typical not to realize you're pregnant, when you're about 6-7 weeks into it...before that, it's very possible not to even have the symptoms? Hmm... I'm thinkin the father may be the guy that was teaching her English.
but i hope i'm wrong
Yeah, man. Good, good episode. I have a special place for sad korean eyes. I guess that’s why I like the Sun and Jin episodes so much. They never miss. The emotional bulls-eye is always hit.
Now as for Gale. The writers are killing me. They’ve written him so well, that I don’t even have a leaning, either way, on whether he’s an “other” or not. I like how this show straps you down for an amazing ride the end of which you really can’t guess. I loved how Gale’s comments seem to reflect what the people at home are thinking. “What’s the computer for? How old is this cereal? Got any milk? You people aren’t curious enough.” Also him busting on the Jack/Locke trust issue was great. What a great character. And STILL I don’t know if he’s lying.
Back to Sun and Jin. Like I said before: they are FIRST RATE. Those two actors are just top freaking shelf. Butttt Suuu-uuunnnn. Your eyes tell me you’re lying to Jin about being faithful, but true to “Lost” form—it could be nothing. I don’t even know what to think. We may find out that she didn’t cheat, that it’s a lil miracle.
This is important to me, kinda. I’ve seen that almost everyone on the island has been up to some form of evil-doing. All except Sun. I think may she be sullied. OR we’ll find out she’s GOOD and that GOOD people do exist among the other islanders with closets full of skeletons. BUTTT I’m starting to think EVERYONE has something really messed up in their pasts. Even the ones who SEEM to be good. Time will tell.
On the comedic tip [and you’s all know I’ve got one] While watching “Lost” last, my pal Spammy and I got to brainstorming about the potential “bebby-dadda” of Sun. It could be Jin. It could be MICHAEL. OR ANY DUDE ON THE ISLAND, Anna Lucia included. We kinda went off the deep with the brainstorming and we came up with the SMOKE MONSTER being the daddy:
it’s night. Jin is still out to sea. Sun turns in for the night after a hard day of planting.
the smoke monster begins swirling around the tent, machine/snake sounds blaring. Sun huddles up, scared. the smoke monster quickly enters the tent and a “struggle” ensues. the sounds turns from a struggle to that of love. a loud, mechanical howl cuts the night air. several hours pass.
a familiar shape appears at the front of the tent. what looks like smoke is rising from it.
camera pushes in slowly to reveal the smoke monster has taken a mans shape. and is smoking a cigarette. the smoke man flicks the cigarette into the ocean and dematerializes into the jungle.
Sun peaks out, concerned. she looks around and smiles a satisfied smile, closes her eyes, and disappears back into the tent.
Yes, we are insane.
It could be Jin's baby the island seems to have healing powers.
yup, the island healed Locke's legs. maybe it helped Jin's "little guys." ya never know.
i only saw the last 10 minutes of this episode as usual, and the exchange between Gale and Jack and Locke was CRAAAAZY
i don't mind the spoilers. I"m gonna download this episode probably tomorrow... whenever it's up on Itunes
when's the next new episode... ??
two weeks
coo
i was told this but i dont know if i believe it. go back to the pilot episode. when jack is standing there on the beach, shannon is screaming a man walks by and says watch out for the gas and then part of the plane blows up. the camerea follows him a bit and then you never see him again. the whole rest of the episode only really really main characters say or do anything. so who the heck is this guy? conclusion come to that it is the captain/man with the beard when he wasnt wearing the beard. thoughts?
and i so knew sun had baby problems as soon as claire was like, "ur not a mother are you?" hahhaha i knew it!
i don't know about the beard dude. i'll have to check it out. as for the Sun/Claire thing. good eye. now i do remember Sun having a funny expression.
"maternity leave" - great episode. basically explained the entire time Claire was gone. and tons of info about the others, but of course, more questions too.
they appear to be a well-supplied scientific group/cult of some sort. they wear costumes to fool the crash survivors into thinking they are also castaways.
I knew that beard was fake. it looked ridiculous
do you think "he" is alvaro hanso?
("he's going to be very upset about this" or whatever, when the beard guy was talking to ethan about claire?)
possibly, alvaro hanso is the benefactor or director of DHARMA right? from the films?
- the bearded/clean-shaven dude is not in charge - another good revelation.
where the heck did all that baby stuff come from? already there or imported somehow? I find it unlikely that it was already there, unless they kidnap pregnant castaways often.
and they sort of abandoned that place, but still go back to it to get their disguises, apparently. so how many bunkers are there on the island, if they had no problem leaving that huge, well-kept one?
Theres are SIX bunkers total.
oh, we know that? when did they say that? and how many have we seen so far: the button bunker, the taily bunker, and the obstetric bunker? is that all of them?
We've SEEN three so far. The title card on the orientation film said 6. So, I'm guessing theres at least 6.
WAH i only got to see the last 15 minutes wah
oh boy, you missed a lot
watching it now.. wow.. man good stuff
something else somebody told me. how the guy that may/may not be an other (i so think he is, plus sayid doesn't feel guilty.)said his name was henry gail. now anybody who knows the wizard of oz knows that the main character is dorothy gail. and he said that he had come in a hot air balloon. another wizard of oz connection.
my boss was also telling me how supposedly when they are in the hatch and jack is pulling the arrow out in the background there is a picture of a hot air balloon. leading conclusions how this "others" guy is just like the main guy in the usual suspects who makes up his stories from everything he sees around him. just some ideas.......
Those are very good ideas. I've heard the Wizard of OZ parallels. Very fun indeed.
play with this:
http://emri.perception.net/
type in all kinds of things: orientation, waaalt, game over, etc. keep trying!
c'mon, people. you know i speak in spoilers. at all times. do i come off like a know-it-all? read at your own risk.
A little theme that keeps resonating: old habits die hard. Sayid. The Torturer. That gave me chills. Mannn.
In the transport that dropped Sayid off: Did you notice Kate's step-dad? He had a picture of a young Kate.
As for that dude they found: DID YOU SEE THAT LAST LOOK HE GAVE SAYID?! he is one of the "Others." No doubt about it. Sayid tenderized him BUT GOOD and he didn't budge. Frenchy was right about him.
As for the clock running out and Locke punching the code real quick: RUBBISH! still, it was neat to see those weird symbols pop up. They look Egyptian. Curiouser and curiouser. I've said this a million times: they will TRULY let the clock run out in the LAST episode of this season. THAT will be the cliffhanger. My words. Mark 'em.
The Claire flashback to the days she lost are finally surfacing. I knew they'd do that. Can't wait.
possible meaning derived from the symbols.
http://i39.photobucket.com/albums/e183/Alyson3783/hieroglyphs.jpg
well another theme we were discussing was the father thing. everybody has ajor issues with their dad. locke, sawyer, kate, jack, (charlie and hurley apparently dont have one) but this episode gave insight into sayid's past and he has daddy issues too. the interrogator guy says about his dad was a proud war hero who sayid wouldn't dissapoint. more daddy problems in the mind.
yeah, this is something i've noticed too. one of the episodes was even called "all the best cowboys have daddy issues." that's definitely a strong theme.
guy on the helicopter with sayid looking at the picture of the girl..
girl = kate
guy = kate's dad
yeah yeah yeah...old news!!! haha j/k
i'm just bitter i only saw the last 15 minutes! booooooo
so.. i guess they're gonna just... keep.. dropping new people onto the island.. okay
i'm frazzled with this show already.
hmm yeah
wow next week: they find another bunker
I liked seeing Sayid's backstory. when the CIA guy spoke to him in Arabic at the end, that was awesome. nice little twist.
ok, yeah. can't say i saw any of THAT coming. a few of my theories took a crap and died last night. the whole Sheriff Sawyer thing is gonna last all of ten seconds. Charlie and Sawyer are two desperate idiots. their little situation is gonna crumble. they might save the Charlie/Sun revelation til later. just know that when it comes out Jin is gonna whup. his. butt. doesn't look like Charlie is gonna get the redemption he needs. i think that's kinda sad, because i liked his "nice guy" character a lot. anyway, that mess will unravel or take a back seat next episode. because it looks like a LOT of crazy crap is gonna go down. A captured Other! Sayid, the Torturer! Rousseau! SAWYER! HURLEY! The TIMER hits ZERO [if this is a dream sequence i will have a fit]! Oh, and as for the "Long Con," Saywers backround story. pretty twisty. i don't think i fully registered what was going on because i was watching the Grammys at the same time. i wonder if he killed that dude in the diner to get away. did he give her part of the loot? fake loot? i wonder if he decides to go meet her anyway. i'm a lil mixed up. time to surf the boards for clarification. I love this show.
so, lost was pretty nuts
you said it, sister
i only saw the last 20 minutes of it too, and it was GASP-ish
We had a friend over last night and she wanted to watch Lost. We watched a few minutes until she realized it was a repeat. My main question: If they're really lost on an island and not eating too much food, how did the fat guy stay so fat? You'd think that a desert island would be his dream come true.
haha i read that as "dessert island"
but, they addressed that at some point... i can't remember their reasoning for it
yeh they had charlie ask him why he wasnt any smaller and he said im a big guy its gonna be awhile before you want to give me a piggyback ride
lol, me and todd just watched that episode last night. pretty good one, making our way thru the first season
he was a lot bigger in last night's episode than he is in the new episodes, i thought anyway
this was the guy who was on the show, "becker", not that anyone watched it.
i started watching season 1, i'm maybe 6 or 7 episodes in. i think this show is just okay, it's kind of interesting i guess. the first couple episodes had my attention but i'm starting to get bored with it
if you're bored after just a few episodes, prepare to fall asleep.
yeah, subtext out the wazoo. i was a distracted dirk watching this episode, so i didn’t make all the connections i think i could have made. still locke, in his hunger to understand the island, is turning out to be bad news. he’s thinking of taking the baby and trading him to the others for secrets about the island! he’s turning evil or . . . confused and shady. this is all conjecture, of course i think echo will become a more benevolent and spiritual advisor. and him marking the trees furthers the clues about an inter-clan sperating process, and also the mysterious “good/bad” list that the OTHERS have. anyway, as for charlie—he hasn’t used the china white. he’s still confused and trying to hold together the little family he’s grown to love and depend on for acceptance, so much so that he went to some pretty extreme and seemingly insane lengths to protect them. Charlie, inside, being a spiritual type dude with serious issues, he’ll feel really strongly about something, but won’t act on in it rationally. as he grows he’ll know to act right, so he don’t get smack’d right by Claire AND Locke. but, man, what a stern beat down he got on the beach. i was totally surprised. ok, so we’ve known for a long while that Claire’s baby, Aaron, is a special baby and is in danger. NOW, some people realize it and are on gaurd, Claire seems to be taking it more seriously by getting Aaron baptized by an african gangster, lol. but that’s good. STILL the others are gonna try to take him again. the ‘ETHAN’ others not the ‘ZEKE AKA the SEA-BILLY’ others, if there actually is such a division. i think we’ll learn more about the baby and the OTHERS real soon. when lost comes back on [Feb 8] it’ll be in a time called SWEEPS! a time when all the shows whip out their best episodes, so lets look forward to some good fun, fish, and fruit flavored moonshine with the OTHERS and our favorite Lostaways.
quicknote: the Hurley and Libby stuff was very cool but more than a little bit weird. i think Libby, being a psychiatrist and Hurley being an ex-mental patient—there is some history there. MAYBE Libby isn’t a psychiatrist at all [she sure doesn’t act like one] but a mental patient herself. hmmm.
quicknote: a really funny line from Saywer to Hurley regarding Libby doing laundrey, “i know ya want to put a load in, yourself.” or something like that. i was rolling. also when Saywer called Hurley “Jabba.” mannn.
quicknote: the best line of the episode goes to increasingly sympathetic yet annoying Anna-Lucia, “are you hittin’ that?” Jack was like, “Whattttttt.”
nice summary. I missed half of this episode due to my meeting and I think I need to download it.
i love when sawyer and hurley were talking about libby and hurley calls them the tailies
yeah, that's a shout to the fans. a lot of fans call them tailies. that was awesome.
I was way underwhelmed by this episode.
yeah me too. kinda lame
totally agree. it was all screw tightening. nothing REALLY interesting. it's also because we aren't amazed or touched by the gangster priest baptizing Claire and Aaron or buy into them being because protected by this or being heaven together. I bet people in certain religions were touched. *shrugs* lol
i know you can be overwhelmed and you can be underwhelmed.. but can you ever be just whelmed?
How long do you think it would take to train an army? \m/
i know. that line is one of stand out moments of this season, if you ask me. WW!
pretty good ep. it's one of those non-linear eps that doesn't pay off or come full circle, like some episodes do quite well. y'know--with the island life profoundly paralleling with the flashback culminating in a moral, lesson or revelation. not MUCH of that. this is what we call a FILLER episode, but it's one that REALLY shouldn't have been. i mean, it's a JACK episode AND they actually run into the OTHERS! this shoulda played out differently. you have the others RIGHT THERE and you don't ask them some seriously overdue questions?! call me a whiner, but that shoulda been different. i dug the flashback a lot though. it was a slow burner. told in focused emotional strokes rather than splashed reveals or character coincidences. i totally bought into it.
i liked how they made it clear that everyone is doing what they are doing for very different reasons. the group appears to be moving in the same direction, but the divisions and motives are varied and for the time being secret. who is right? who is wrong? who is evil?! even with the down episodes and the occasional 6 week gaps between episodes, i still love this show.
confession: i think the way that the writers are handling the "others" is insane and they will not be able to make it pay off right. it just feels like they've painted themselves into a corner and they're trying to build to something that will most likely be convoluted and anticlimactic. i hope i'm wrong.
yeah i was kind of disappointed in that whole "others" thing
oh did you notice, the bearded guy said "Alex, bring her out!" ALEX! Danielle's daughter Alex. I guess she is still alive. So we can guess Walt's fate and the fate of the little kids they took.. so does this mean they maybe don't have enough women in the group or something so they are not reproducing so they are stealing children to keep their group going?
and the whole thing on "you live here becuase we are letting you live"
eh.. vague
they didn't CHOOSE to have their plane crash there.. i duno
it was a good episode but i was definitely disappointed with the lack of questions the Others just disappeared into the jungle, lameeeee
and Kate, seriously, KAAAATEEEE ... i don't know that's all i have to say about that
yeah, when he was going on about how when you are a guest in someone's house do you take your shoes off and put your feet on the table? come on. I would have just laughed at him. and then I would have gotten shot in th face,, but it'd be worth it.
yeh but sawyer did try to shoot him but it didnt work
lol
actually, i didn't noticed that. wow. i guess anythings possible. i'm kinda thinking they want "gifted" babies, not just procreation receptacles. i don't know though. it doesn't seem like they're gonna hurt Walt, so that's good news. or maybe they've already cannabalized him. i just don't know.
so i read somewhere that the writers already have 8season of the show planned out. just think: 8 years of ridiculous only revealing lil tidbits. which i think is crazy cuz ya just cant keep the same actors for 8yrs and its not like you can add new ones.
but also that by the end of season two the writers will reveal why the plane crashed.
what plane crash?
the plane that they were traveling on. the writers never explained it. like how all of a sudden they are 200 miles off course and suddenly just drop onto this island. what caused it to happen and all the goodies.
wait! WHAT PLANE CRASH?!
ok so when jacks wife says that she was seeing someone else.. it was sawyer
in the 1st season when they were talking about sawyers backround he walked into his hotel room with a girl (jacks wife) in the hotel room there was a guy waiting for them he told sawyer that the man he was looking for was in Austraila
what?! who have you been talking to?!
no way! can anyone verify this?
im pretty sure but icant find the right DVD to check does anyone know the name of that episode?
signs point MORE to Desmond. but nothing is impossible.
thats what my sister was saying
al r8ight. its totally desmond. there was a picture in the hatch when they shoed desmond working there of him and a blonde chick. the blonde chick that was jack's wife. and THAT'S why when jack and desmond confronted eachother and jack screamed how he married her. desmond just nodded and walked away. craziness!!!
here's a link to a screencap of that picture - it's not Jack's wife

interesting..
I LOVE the feeling of not knowing and then when everything comes together and you go "ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!" it's so rare and it only lasts like 2 seconds and i love it and I love how LOST does this all the time
i think i said this before, and in this very thread ... hmm.. did I?... hmm..
oh yeah, in case you guys didn't notice, the electrical flickers inside that black cloud were showing events from ecko's past and stuff
yeah what the heck is that black smoke?!?!??! i want to know, NOW
well, it's the island's security system. designed to scare people off, AT LEAST! i'm thinking theres a LOT more to it than that, of course. it seems fully repaired from the dynamite enema it got last season.
ian's right--it reads minds or pasts or good or bad or whatever. i guess we'll find out. probably we won't.
whoah. I missed that completely. again. I wasn't watching this at home and the TV was crappy.
do you think charlie noticed the images?
i don't think anyone noticed them but us. the camera panned THRU the cloud. maybe ecko knew it was reading him or he saw it was reading him, but he didn't give an indication of that. something tells me that was a little "gift" from the writers, giving us a peak at the clouds capabilities. i dunno.
i saw it i saw it i was like WHOAH THERE ARE FACES OF PEOPLE IN THE CLOUD!!!
and then i went on lost-forum.com the next day and they had screen caps of what it is..
I missed half of this episode because our meeting is on Wednesday... is it worth it to purchase it from Itunes?
HIZZLE YIZZLE
doin' it
Okay so obviously Michael was in another room when the film reel mentioned not to use the computer for anything other than it's original purpose =/
Favorite line of last night's ep What are you gonna do beat me w/ your Jesus stick?!?
Yeah, he wasn't there to see that part of the video... so, then, why is he hiding the fact that he's communicating with "walt"?
i think he knows venturing out to get walt from the others isn't gonna be a group thing, so he's being sneaky about it. as we see from the preview of the next ep. he runs off with some firepower to get his "boy" back, ALONE. that's when the "hunting party" goes after him.
i have no socks. they have been blown off. this one is in my top five, hands down. amazing ep. talk soon.
Ecko's back story was pretty cool. and again, another connection to the island. that was cool that they brought that around.
i had a strong feeling he was connected to that plane. when i first saw him i thought he was the drug smuggler directly tied to that plane. but it appears he wasn't on THAT plane. very interesting.
O M G!
yup
so, we've been watching season 1, we have one more disc to go. and, i think it is good, but not great. i just feel like, every episode, there are interesting new doors opened and scenarios, but it seems like, they never ANSWER any of the stuff. it's kind of frustrating.
NEW LOST NEXT WEEK!
i know. so hot. supposed to be an hour recap and then a new ep. said to be focused on my favorite black man, mr. ecko. notice how his name is locke but all mixed up. hmmmm.
I love Ecko!!! and Locke!!! awesome.. too bad I'll be missing this episode due to my meeting. Hmm maybe i'll catch the last half hour.. and then download it the next day and watch it again, so really who cares.
Dad?
lolz

Walt found a sidekick in the jungle...orrrr he joined the Other's family plan. who know if it's even really him. chances are we won't see that kid til the end of the season. like 16 eps away.
MAN what a crazy episode, right?!?! There were so many moments where I gasped and said WHAT?!?!??!
and the show just got even better - a beautiful black horse on the island?!?!?! They should totally tame it and like ride it around and stuff. That's what I'd do.
oh man, they're totally going to joust the others
yeah it's gonna get crazy! funny when Charlie said it's getting like Lord of the Flies.
Oh and I'm hearing, no new episodes until mid-January!!! :( BOO!
the sound on the tv I was watching it on was screwed up, when did he say that?
the kate backstory was great. I was a little confused about the father situation. she killed her real father, but said she didn't know he was her real father when she did it, then later she said she always knew he was.
again, I couldn't really hear all that well. could someone explain?
Also the movie. ok they cut out the part of the movie that emphasized not using the computer for anything else, and placed it on the other side of the island. why?
and the whole king josiah story seemed a little bit of overkill if the book only contained a clip of some guy just repeating what was said in the other clip, but a little more forcefully.
Charlie said that when he met up with Kate in the jungle, right before she asked him, if he thinks it's possible that there are horses on the island
she knew that guy was her real father, and that basically is the reason she killed him, i think i got that right, but i might be wrong
and yeah it was emphasized not to use the computer to communicate with the outside world. So it means its' possible to communicate with the outside world. But why? We all know they are NEVER getting off that island, haha
yeah, when she found out that dude was her real pops she blew him up because she hated him and everything about him so much. and sawyer reminds her of him. sucks for sawyer. i thought he had a shot at snagging her. but jack? wait, but anna lucia? whatever. we get NO hook ups on this island. me? i definitely would have put the moves on one of those unintroduced no name honeys in the backround. AND i think i woulda pants'd Hurley a couple times. and definitely tried to learn Korean from Sun and Jin. then maybe i'd start a beat box band and have huge parties on the beach. eventually i'd have to make instruments, because all we have is Charlies guitar. . .
the king josiah thing was all about echo is a secrective and religioius guy. like how he didnt talk for 40 days after killing the guy. or in next week's previews he is quoting scripture. i really wanna know what's up with him!
the dude mentioned the another facility and the occupants of that facility possbily persauding them to use the computer for other purposes. i thought that was a bit anticlimactic.
exactly. very anticlimactic after the huge setup by echo.
